  1. OP - how often do you dry fire and/or practice with live fire?
  2. Thought I'd report back after finishing a Steel match and a few hours of action pistol. I found that with both eyes open I can transition almost twice as fast (steel challenge) and had a lot of success with this method. However, when I applied it to my normal USPSA practice session I had a very tough time hitting alphas consistently. I was able to transition much faster but it came at the expense of accuracy. I have thus resolved to putting a piece of office tape over my lenses and it has helped tremendously. I get a hard front sight focus but can still keep my peripheral vision. Next match is this Sunday so we'll see how it goes
  3. Gen 4 vote here. I like the mag release and the options for grip. The grip texture is also better IMO. As far as accuracy and performance goes I don't necessarily think one is better than the other
  4. What division are you competing in OP?

    KKM Barrels

Update: Just got the KKM barrel about a week ago and love the fit and finish. Definitely locks into tighter than stock and haven't had any issue so far. Shot a local match and a level 2 (Golden Bullet NorCal Sectional) with it and did really well. Although I can't tell you much about accuracy though as I've never done a before and after. But even it is a placebo I'm glad I got it
  6. That just makes for a non-exciting stage and lots of waiting lol
  7. Dawson EZ offs work nice for me. I'd rather have the TTI but they're 2xs the price. Don't think there's much difference other than aesthetics.
  8. I removed it for two reasons. One I was getting mixed messages about the legality of it for Production. Even with the research done by prior shooters in the links RO's at my local club couldn't say with certainty it was legal (it was 50/50). Two I think I can do it better by adding paint during the meading process. Painting after the fact doesn't work as well as it comes off during reloads. I will research some more and re-post when I am 100% sure at my club.
  9. Stick a Q-Tip in the breach before closing the slide. This will let you press the trigger without having to constantly rack the slide. You won't get the striker to fire but it will allow you to practice your trigger control
  10. Never thought of it like this. Thanks for the tip!
  11. I have the Gen 4 G34 but with the opposite problem. Even after bench resting and sighting in at 15 yard it actually shoots about 1-2" left of center when it came from the factory. All sights were zeroed visually and even after 'squared' shot well left. I don't have this problem with my other guns and my brother owns the G17 version which I shoot fine. I've since then drifted my new Dawson P sights to the right and have corrected it for now. I will definitely be looking up a new locking block, thanks
  12. I'm pretty new to USPSA but so far from what I've been reading here and elsewhere they do not seem to be the most transparent organization. Granted it is indeed large and run by volunteers who probably have full-time jobs and families, it shouldn't be too difficult to say: - Here is what happened - This is what we plan to do about it - Here is how we can help make sure it won't happen again Again, not easy to do for a large organization, but not impossible either.
  13. Wow. Hope they perma-ban that guy. Or susupend him for a few years at least

    KKM Barrels

Yeah that's what I've been reading as well but they don't have a drop it barrel correct? I believe I would have to take it to a gunsmith to get it fitted, no?
  15. I got 2 alphas on the first one during T2. There's a second clamshell towards the back right during hiding behind some barrels that I miked on. It was about 10-12 yards away however I definitely could have slowed down and taken the head shot. My adrenaline was pumping so it was hard to ease off lol

    KKM Barrels

Thank you guys for the feedback. I think I may have found my next upgrade! BTW - does anyone know how the KKM compares to the Bar-Sto?
  17. Never mind, looks like I have 50+ lol BTW I'm also looking into a 2011
  18. I have the same problem, hoping this post will get me that much closer!
  19. This is my 4th match after starting AP on 5/11/14. I've never seen these types of targets and they're a lot more difficult than I thought - especially on the move. As a newer shooter I was stoked but I miked on the second clamshell as the friendly came back up and I didn't want to shoot it. Was that a mistake? Let me know what what you guys think!
  20. I tried gloves just for the sake of it at the range and hated it. My trigger control was sacrificed for grip and I didn't like the feel. If you have grip issues try strengthening your grip or grip tape. Sweat can be cleared with chalk or dirt if need be.
