I didn't have any problems testing my 21 rounders. The dimensions on the grip seem identical to the existing X5 grips.

I had been shooting a stock X5 for a three day course so I couldn't give a good comparison other than to say it's noticeably better than factor and seems to be good enough that you don't have to get an aftermarket right away. I need to do all true side by side to see how much better the GGI would be or if any GGI parts can further improve the Legion.

What battery? I'm using the Duracells with great success

I checked out the Legion that was on the wall at the SIG Pro Shop and was very impressed. The trigger was surprisingly good, and with the full length guide rod you really don't need to do anything to this gun to be competitive. I put one on back order while I was there.

Regarding making weight for IDPA ESP, keep in mind that you could always remove the grip weight if you needed to find another 2oz somewhere.

As stated, you notice slide movement more when there isn't a mag in the gun. Since it pretty much goes away when there is a mag in the gun and since the slights are connected to the slide, not the frame, it doesn't make a significant difference in accuracy.

Any chance you have a full length guide rod instead of an X5 one?

Right place, right time? Unfortunately these slipped through my fingers, but I am seeing reports of the guns already arriving at distributors. SIG wanted to knock out 2k right up front, so we should start to see more out there.

I got hands on some Legion grips. Just amazingly heavy. Didn't get a chance to shoot them yet, but I they will be a nice performance enhancement.

X5 doesn't have a GG trigger from the factory, FYI. The heavy barrel on the X5 makes it worth it.

I can't say exactly why they went this way, but one possible reason is for Bianchi. You can use the factory magwell in Production but you are supposed to use factory base pads as well and the stock basepads for the 17 rounders don't work with the magwell. Same goes for IDPA ESP. It's much easier to add 21 round magazines later than have users buy seperate 17 round mags and extended plus zero base pads that may or may not be legal.

What is this lack of popularity you speak of? I see them all the time, especially in CO. I seem to remember a very strong showing at Nationals as well.

Regarding the AMG Lab timer, I think the Bluetooth integration with Practiscore is a game changer. As a stand alone I really like the adjustable volume, preset profiles, sensitivity adjustments and multiple par times. Only down side I have seen so far is its a bit slow to set new par times. I don't have a lot of data, but I went from CZ to P320 and feel I shoot the P320 better overall. I never felt as fast out of the holster with the CZ, didn't like the DA/SA transition, and was able to shoot as fast with the P320. YMMV.

The Romeo3 wasn't designed for direct slide mounting, but it's what Max went with because he preferred the height of the window when compared to the R1. The R3 mostly has a RTS2 footprint due to obvious shared heritage. Not sure why SIG originally sent with a nonstandard footprint for the R1, but they are slowly migrating to the DPP footprint for the R2 and R1Pro. It would surprise me if they didn't make something P320 related specific to the R3Max when that becomes available, but we will have to wait and see what and whenever that might be.

Size is shorter than R3 but slightly longer on the front than RTS2.

What length load? The SIGs seem to have a short chamber.

I run Red Hill Tactical pouches but I have some of the DAA as well. I actually modified that little round plastic part by epoxting it directly to the housing to eliminate the wobble.

Should be very similar. I'll have to see if I have unmodified of both, but I'm pretty sure.
