  1. Touché. I was thinking about grip mechanics not competitive legalities. Is it legal to compete with a Gen 3 upper on a Gen 4 lower? That’s not how the lower came..... How many angels dance on the head of a pin? Sometimes that is how these rules feel.
  2. And you can add a beaver tail to your gen 3 lower for ~$10 to $20. Check for them on eBay. I got the pair with two different surface textures to pick the one preferred. Put these on my gen 3 G17 and G35. The G22 gained a beaver tail from the Crimson Trace red laser installed.
  3. Try Google: http://www.spintaprecision.com/glock-17l-3rd-gen-front-rear-serration-long-slide-with-dovetail-sale/ Cannot guarantee in stock, but at least it’s a lead for you.
  4. Stock. We’re talking about 9 mm recoil here, not .44 magnum. Hold onto your pistol and control it. You are all talking about dealing with this and that malfunction or walking on the edge of malfunction instead of just staying stock. Box stock Glocks are reliable as hell. The Glock guys with malfunctions in competition have all modified one thing or another. Maybe add a little dead weight in the guide rod and/or grip if you must.
  5. Yes, but sometimes the “open air” race holster is necessary, such as when you have a frame weight on the rail and a left thumb rest on the frame weight. Pretty hard to get all that in a closed holster.
  6. Why does the slide need to lose weight beyond the cut for the DPP? I put a DPP on my G35 using a Dueck Defense dovetail mount, kept the same factory recoil spring weight and everything worked fine. No slide cut and the added weight of the dovetail mount. Then I decided to move the DPP to a Carver Custom frame mount so it no longer reciprocates. I left the slide without front or rear sights and still kept the same recoil spring weight and everything still works fine.
  7. When I shook the jammed pistol there was a slight rattle of the cartridge. I imagined it was trapped behind the chamber but couldn’t pull the slide back enough for photos like yours. Could your experience be a less severe version of mine? To others, why not get a trade-in G35 so you don’t need the aftermarket barrel and sight block?
  8. Understanding now the difference between a certificate (free gun) and a coupon (discounted gun) the time delay makes sense. It is the lowest priority order to be met, since there will be no profit other than the write off for donating the certificate in the first place.
  9. The Lone Wolf barrel may also be a problem source. I put a Lone Wolf 9 mm conversion barrel in my G22 fed by OEM 9 mm magazines and there were FTFs with Fiocchi but not Winchester white box or American Eagle. We were using up several different types of ammo, so the magazines were mixed loads. The FTF was like a failure drill, but it was a mess with the cartridge wedged in in such a way as to neither go into battery or allow me to eject it by racking the slide. The cartridge essentially locked the slide halfway between battery and slide lock. It took almost five minutes of yanking and banging with the magazine out before the cartridge finally dropped out the magwell. The first time it happened my wife was shooting it. I suggested she was limp wristing. After I unjammed the pistol it happened to her again. Each time it took five minutes to resolve. I was frustrated and she was embarrassed at the difficulty she had caused. When it then happened to me, there was major apologizing to follow. We burned the rest of the Fiocchi in a Sig P228 where it worked just fine. Even I was smart enough not to test it a fourth time.
  10. What is the advantage of ordering from Glock instead of using the local Blue Label dealer? Advantage other than trying one’s patience?
  11. And extended puts another small amount of weight right under the muzzle.
  12. Are you asking about ordering directly from Glock yourself or through a local GSSF/Blue Label dealer? I did the latter for a G17 gen 3, since I am in California where gen 4 and 5 are not approved. It came in to the local dealer within 2-3 weeks. Then I had my DROS (dealer record of sale paperwork, background check and 10 day waiting period. In other words even in California it took about one month.
  13. Let me add that the only people I've not seen "Glock Perfection" fulfilled are those who have substantially "upgraded" parts particularly in search of a better trigger pull. Whenever a guy has malfunctions at our local USPSA, particularly light strikes, it turns out he modified the fire control in one way or another. The time wasted solving the malfunctions almost always blows up the stage.
  14. Anyone have experience using TTI to open up the loading port of their shotgun for 3 gun quad loading?

    G43X

Variety of tastes and preferences are what makes the world go round.
  16. Glockstore Thug Plug comes in G1-3 and G4 versions to put weight in the back of the grip.
  17. Why won’t an inexpensive rubber grip sleeve like the Hogue Handall or a Pachmayr work? They are an inexpensive approach to try that leaves the grip in original condition.
  18. If they are concerned about conversion barrels acting like a bull barrel, why don’t they just say so in the rules?

    9mm minor load

Yes, we are all free to follow our own paths. I went G35 with magwell and Deltapoint Pro on the slide but am now in the process of moving it to a Carver Competition frame mount with a customized thumb rest being installed. Since I don’t reload, .40 S&W is the other way to major power factor. The money I didn’t spend on a 2011, which may not even be legal in California, is freed up for ammo and another gun or two. Already got a G17 that is evolving into my night match pistol and am contemplating a Ruger PCC next. That PCC may not be as trick as a JP but a lot less expensive. As a USPSA Super Senior with less foot speed, slowed eye hand reflexes, fun is more important than delusions of winning. Having fun, beating a friend or my score from the month before is all I ask.
  20. Amen. See my post from August 1st, page 2 of this thread. Use the Hogue Handall universal grip sleeve.

    9mm minor load

Best wishes for this project bringing in a very happy 2019 for you.
  22. Just put the ALG 6 Second Mount on my Gen 3 G17 with Aimpoint H2. The mount works with T1, T2, H1 and H2 Micros by Aimpoint, some Holosun models and other Chinese made Aimpoint knock offs that use the T1 mount scheme. The T1 and T2 Micros are night vision compatible whereas the H1 and H2 are not. They also tolerate deeper submersion. The second generation T2 and H2 Micros come with clear lens caps that pop open. These caps replace the bikini lens covers of the first generation Micros. I had to take the front lens cap off mine to fit the mount and the custom made holster. Just finished assembling this and getting it zero'd. Will use for night matches, steel challenge and night home defense.
  23. Don’t the new factory 24 round 9 mm magazines meet the 170 mm requirement? If so, they cost less than the extensions and eliminate the issues described in this thread. Yes, the thread began before these new magazines were available, but readers should be aware of the alternatives.
