  1. Most people equate giving an FTDR with calling someone a cheater but that is not always the case. It is possible to get an FTDR with an honest mistake. It just means that you failed to do something right. I understand most folks going easy on new shooters because we want them to come back and have a good time. Most of the more competitive shooters that I know want to be scored hard even at club matches so they are better prepared for the sanctioned matches.
  2. An FTDR is 20 seconds not 15. You would not be giving him an FTDR in this case...I'm afraid that he actually earned it. I know that it is a bit harsh but it is what fits here.
  3. My model 66 and my new 625JM both use the 150-3 and 180-3 bit for the side plate screws like Mike said.
  4. I friend loaned me his RCBS trimmer. I made 250 and had to buy a new cutter. I'm with Doug...it does suck. I will never make them again. If I ever need them again I'll call the good folks at Starline.
  5. From the rule book on page 41. Failure to properly stow a partial magazine or live ammunition after a Tactical Reload or Reload with Retention prior to firing the first shot after the reload, will incur a procedural penalty.
  6. My 625JM has a step in the cylinder, I can load and fire 6 without the moons. It just doesn't eject with the rod.
  7. K,L, and N frame mounted pins are the same.
  8. No definitive answers but the same question was asked here.. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63550
  9. What we need is a definition of what is not a full length dust cover. The STI Tactical has a longer than normal dust cover. IDPA simply says it can not have a full length dust cover. So someone takes a full length dust cover and files off 1/32", it technically is no longer full length but most likely would never pass in IDPA. I think its the single stack guys that have a definition that says that the dust cover can't be longer than X measured from the front of the slide stop pin. We need Robert or some one at IDPA HQ to give a similar reference point as to what would be the maximum length before it is considered a full length cover.
  10. Well, it has to be old so how about "speedway"?
  11. Sure looks the same to me, right down to the black bars on the side.
  12. Great, neither the SO or the club president have read the rulebook. Regarding the original question, it's a malfunction and no procedural.
  13. Faster? I would be more than happy to watch my competition overrun their shooting position and have to back up. If they had planned their advance properly they could have been shooting when they were screwing around and backing up to get into position.
  14. So you got the ONE. No sense in looking for it now that its been found. Congratulations on a rare find. Isn't it great to feel good about the money spent.

  16. If you get the Blade-Tech you will need to get a SRB (Sting Ray Belt) attachment as the Tek-Lok most likely won't pass IDPA inspection.
  17. I find that a lot of people have a hard time figuring out how much to take off the strain screw, it's really not hard. The screw has 32 threads per inch so divide 1 inch by 32 and you get .03125. If your screw is good backed off 1 turn just remove roughly .031 from its length, that way you can just lock it down and never be bothered by it again. Just remember to round the end some after cutting it back or the main spring will try to walk out the side when you tighten the screw.
  18. You had better weigh your para before spending any more money on it. It's likely that it is already over weight for IDPA to start with and if you add a stainless magwell it will just get heavier. Weight limit for ESP is 43 oz with a magazine inserted. You can not go by Para's listed weights. What model is it?
  19. I also use 4.0 clays with a 230 LRN. I could get by with a little less powder but I don't want to have to worry about the chrono.

    trophies...

If an EXP won the DC it would not automatically make them a MA. In a lot cases he would not get a bump. They would still have to beat 9 others in his class or beat 10 people in his class and the one above. There would have to be enough participation in EXP and MA to get the necessary numbers for a bump. I also figure that getting first for losing is a bit silly.
  21. Well if you think about it, if you are a master ESR shooter, the first place Master trophy is up for grabs at a match where JM is shooting. Jerry will get the Division Champ award and the second place guy will get moved to first place Master ESR. I don't think JM being there is going to make any Masters not show up. If I was Master ESR I would love to have JM to compare to and still have a shot at the first place Master award. In my mind, it would still be second place but that isn't bad if you are close to keeping up with JM. When I make master in ESR I hope that JM is still at the top of his game. I look forward to competing against him.
  22. The regular California Comp 625 holders are not IDPA legal. You can make them legal by adding a post to the center that protrudes through the moon clip or modifying the plastic center by grinding it so that the plastic sticks through. I just use the 7 round holders that already have a post that sticks through. I actually prefer the 7 round holders anyway.
  23. I does get confusing between the different brands. The part that stops and locks the cylinder on a Colt revolver is called a bolt.
  24. David The K,L and N frame hammers are not interchangable.
  25. It was Speer brass that I tried as well. I had the same results with cartridges flying off the moons. I thought about what could be gained by going through all the trouble of using the GAP in place of the ACP and decided that I like life much more simple. I like cheap moon clips with mixed brass and getting great results. I figured that there is a lot more to be gained by just plain old practice.
