^Yes. The more matches I have under my belt, the less my classification is important to me. I value my scores against fellow(and better) shooters more so. If ever someone suggests I'm sandbagging as a SS then I'm doing something right and ready to rank up. I don't mind being the little fish again. ...still having fun...

45 Raven and I have been sharing ideas about how to go about this. Below is mine. I find it very easy to visualize from a 3rd person POV (similar to an SO's perspective). I see me engaging targets, reloading and moving to positions. The mechanical details of shooting are not present, what I visualize is how I go about the course of fire (the flow, if that makes sense). I do feel a sense of calmness, awareness and purpose when visualization goes well. ... so continues my pursuit of progress ... and I'm enjoying it.

Here is my breakdown for 9mm: Retail cost per round $0.25. Cost per handload round minus brass $0.12. Invested $700ish in reload hardware Return on investment for me took me 6k rounds. As already discussed, bullets are where you can cut costs. Don't get wrapped up in powder prices, using powder like N320 may bump up price per round additional $0.02. Personally, I plan to move from plated to coated once I switch powders. May save me $0.02 per round but I'm hoping for better accuracy.

Nothing wrong with CBC. They are just different. Primer pocket is tighter and case wall a touch thicker. I definitely know when there is a CBC case being resized on my Dillion 550. I sort out CBC and Ammoload/FM from the rest and load them separately.

I know you are asking for coated data but want to share my experience with this powder using plated RN. 700-X is a large flake powder. On a Dillion 550b, I get more consistent drops at 3.8+gr. I settled on 3.9gr for Xtreme 124gr plated at 1.155in OAL which makes 129PF out of my P-09. I tried to go lower for coated bullets, but drops were varying too much for my comfort. I like this powder once it was dialed in. Soft, accurate and dirty but hasn't caused a failure for me.

Pinch or roll, I was taught to release the trigger once the hammer starts to fall. Doing so will re-engage the firing pin block to prevent the firing pin from striking the cartridge IF the hammer slips from your grip. Also, the hammer stops at half cock. This is different than what was shown in the video, where the guy releases the trigger after the hammer is fully down. I went decocker on all my CZs but manually decocking is still a good skill to have. Probably something I should add to my practice repertoire.

Very true. I would like to have less unnecessary conversations with myself while I shoot.

I'm starting to see improvements in my scores soon after incorporating visualization into practices and matches. Improvements have come in the way of higher accuracy(less points down) and just one mental mistake. Although my sample size is small, ten matches, the improvements are obvious. My overall speed is the same but now I'm seeing the COF and seeing my sights line up as I'm looking at the targets. My mind is calmer. I can hear everything. At a match two weeks ago, I can hear the guys chatting behind me right before the buzzer and while I'm shooting. CORRECTION: I was listening to the guys comment on my shooting AS I was shooting. I find that I can switch between thoughts and tasks easier and faster. On one stage(same match), I lost my mental round count preparing for a reload and found myself mentally counting targets I shot WHILE engaging a target then transitioning to the next shooting position. I scored towards the top just below M, EX and top SS shooters( Currently SS ). I'm not sure if I picked up bad habits but these are things I observed I'm doing lately. My "To Do" list includes: improve visualization by increasing the amount of detail and increase speed in practice(which I hope to translate to speed in matches). Simple enough

I'm confused also. Some have said the P-07 will fit the box with the CCP filler if they put light pressure on the lid and/or how the pistol is place in the box. CCP inherits ESP allowed modifications. I assume the P-07 will easily fit the box if the decocker or safety is trimmed a touch. It begs the question, is a trimmed decocker or safety allowed? I posted the question on http://idpaforum.yuku.com/. That forum is kinda dead. If I don't receive any replies, I plan on contacting IDPA office directly.

I love Ramshot Competition for .45 ACP but little leary of using for 9mm. Have you used it with 147's? I have had really good luck with RS Comp and 147 coated bullets. 3.2 to 3.3 will easily get you to 130PF and because you are in the top of the burn rate it is clean, cool and about as smokeless as they come. Asking about powder is sort of like the which came first, chicken or the egg. It's about as personal as it gets and everyone likes what they like. I try them all and I too like what I like. I experimented with RS Comp with 147gr coated. I can confirm 3.2gr makes at least 127pf in my CZ P09. Be wary that is 0.3gr over RS published Max. OAL is 1.145in.

Two weeks ago, a few of us CZ guys let a Glock shooter handle a P-09 and a 85 Combat. That next week he swung by CZC and left with an SP-01 Shadow. He shot it for the first time during the monthly IDPA classifier and barely missed SS. This guy usually scores towards the top of the SS group with his glock. He "likes" it, but doesn't love it just yet. I already called "dibs" if it goes on the chopping block! Good Luck!

I play IDPA Production with my P-09 and struggle with the first shot. Although, it isn't as pronounced as when I first started IDPA. I haven't had a stage where the COF had the first target further than 15 yards. So the first shot hasn't been too costly for me. I tend to grip pretty hard so that may be what counters the DA pull. So with Cajun Guts, I assume there is a 15# hammer spring in yours. I've switched back and forth between 15# and 13# but settled on the former to be on the safe side. But that 13# is nicer. Never shot USPSA, but I imagine it is "liberating" to shoot versus IDPA. I've had enough fellow USPSA shooters who recommend it that I might have to just do that.

As a new shooter who has only shot IDPA matches, I do enjoy it. The biggest "gripe" I have is the debates which occur discussing a course of fire and how the rules apply. A new shooter like myself can come away from the debate more confused because of the different interpretations. The match director has the final say but the whole experience can leave someone a bit put off.

Hey Joe, you shoot a shadow, what front and rear sight do you have? Brand and size? I have the H-Tac rear (HAJO with a tactical cut) and I asked Stuart to mill down the standard Accu Shadow front sight to 1.00 for me. I believe the Accu comes with a 1.125? I swapped out my H-Tac sights for Dawson's on my P-09 and noticed a slight increase in MY accuracy. The increased amount of light really made a difference for me.

If you breakdown it down, some aspects of the game are applicable for self defense or a related occupation. Still it is a game and a great way to socialize amongst like minded people.

In both my P-07 and P-09, I'm more accurate with factory 115gr ammo versus my loads using 124gr(PF 130).

^This. I use dots or lines and put them on the base pad and all four sides of the magazine closest to the base pad. In my experience, that location shows the least amount of rub. They are also color coded. A combination of color and dot/lines helps me differentiate with their purpose and age.

Glad I'm not the only one who can hear their "inner" voices . During the COF, I talk to myself . I make comments like: "Call your shots, dummy" and "Get ready to reload soon". I don't remember most details, especially when I had a particular good run. BUT I do remember where I screwed up.

I've gone through 4 lbs of 700-X in my 550 with good results. Initially, it had inconsistent drops. I found that lightly tapping on the powder measure for a minute then dropping 20-30 loads eventually settled it down. Working like a charm ever since. 700-X is a nice fast powder that most people avoid just because it is a flake powder. More for everyone else who has the patience to work with it. Makes PF with room to spare for me.

^^^This works for me going from an M&P to a CZ. Drawing slowly with my eyes closed, getting a "feel" as to where my arms, hands, wrists and finger are. Open my eyes; make necessary adjustments; get the new "feel"; draw again and repeat until you get consitent draws. Good luck.

I've only started to work the scoring pads at Phoenix rod and gun club the last four weeks. Temps probably got close to 105 but I didnt experience any issues with the tablets we use. I'll be sure to find out what make and model we use this weekend.The tablet I've been assigned to use was a 7" Samsung with some type of Otterbox case.

I shot my first classifier a few weeks ago and was 4 seconds shy of Expert, with two headshot misses on stage 1 and 2. The last two local matches I shot, I found myself in the bottom half of the SSP SS group. I guess some shoot the classifier really well but perform less than stellar at matches. I'm starting to believe I'm in that group at the present time.
