  1. My thoughts exactly. Although, I do understand I may polish certain sequence of actions by shooting the classifier. Hopefully they can be duplicated in my matches. Thanks all.
  2. Ponce, I'm really interest in the accuracy of your loads especially at 4.9gr. I have the same bullet and primer on hand and looking to order WSF soon. Keep us posted. Vince
  3. Here's what I was averaging out of my P-09 RS Competition 3.2gr 147gr FP Bayou Bullet 1.147in 883fps - Out of a CZ P-09 4.5" barrel I too observed the lackluster accuracy in RS Comp. BBl has the lube grove and may be the reason why I'm seeing a few more fps than you are with Black and Blue bullets. SNS no lube grooves were slightly slower with an avg of 860fps. RS Competition will be relegated to plinking/training loads for my purposes.
  4. I have one of these: http://www.bucketboss.com/66014.html Uber tough plenty of space for 12 mags, 2 full size pistols, 2 holsters, 6 mag holders, 2 muffs, 400 rounds of ammo and misc stuff. - Essentially enough room for 2 shooters. I like the idea of one compartment to open and I can see everything in my bag. Instead of fishing throughout the many external pouches. Only draw back is it doesn't carry well unless it is zippered closed. You can purchase third party bag dividers to create a protected area for your muffs. Good luck.
  5. A decent meal containing protein, some fat and vegetable carbs. A Denver omlet is what I eat when i can. Got your protein and fat in the eggs and veggies for carbs. The eggs protein and fat will help surpress your appetite better. Egg white omlet if you are watching your cholesterol. I started to avoid coffee before a match for lots of reasons previously posted.
  6. I just started shooting lead and coated lead. I found SNS 147gr coated no lube groove a touch slower than Bayou 147gr coated. Granted Bayou bullets still have the lube groove. Just placed an order with Falcon bullets for their "FalCoat" bullets. Pricier but they claim up to be 50fps faster which may help with me making PF. Based on the positive posts, I might be placing a small order with Acme and Leatherhead in the near future.
  7. Went out to the desert this morning to chrono my latest loads. This is relevant to the OP. RS Competition 3.2gr 147gr FP Bayou Bullet 1.147in 883fps - Out of a CZ P-09 4.5" barrel Accuracy was "acceptable". I had a few fliers. This is my first rodeo with 147gr, coated bullets and P-09. So lots of variables. good luck.
  8. Outside of what others have already suggested, consider keeping your sear and sear spring together or replacing it with a heavier one. Shooter in last week's match swapped his 1911 sear spring for a lighter one, didn't test fire it and his hammer followed at least once on every stage. He was pretty upset. Naturally the Glock guys suggested he sell it for scrap metal and get a Glock.
  9. I've only started to work the scoring pads at Phoenix rod and gun club the last four weeks. Temps probably got close to 105 but I didnt experience any issues with the tablets we use. I'll be sure to find out what make and model we use this weekend.
  10. I was hoping to get 130PF using 147gr FP SNS Lead. This is the best I could do at my comfort zone limit. RS Competition 3.2gr 147gr FP NLG SNS 1.137" 850fps - Out of a CZ P-07 3.8" barrel I still have one more option. That is to try using Bayou's 147 FP because this bullet goes a touch faster compared to SNS of equal weight while I was chrono'in at lower powder charges ( i.e. 2.7gr through 2.9gr).
  11. I'm a lefty. When I started shooting a few years ago, I left the mag release on my CZ P-07 as is. The thinking was more tactical, left handed person living in a right handed world. SHTF scenario, I could to picking up any pistol and reloading with less issues. Now that I'm starting to shoot in matches, I've switched the release to the right side and it "feels" more comfortable and natural to hit that button. Then again, I have large enough hands that my thumb can easily reach it. Since the switch, I feel my reloads are faster, get back on target and press the trigger straight back faster without adjusting my grip.
  12. With my busy schedule, I can only participate in two matches a month. At my local gun club, every fourth Saturday is the classifier. Just so happens that is when I'm usually able to shoot matches. So my question is: Is it frowned upon to shoot the classifier on a regular basis? For me it is just another opportunity to shoot and have fun. Thanks.
  13. 700X 3.9-4.0gr 1.150in with Xtreme 124gr RN makes 127-130PF easy.
  14. This morning I went out to chrono some new loads with 147gr bullets. After the reviewing the first string, the numbers seemed awfully low. A second string was also low. Low compared to what I chron'd last year same but just warmer. When I came home to break down my pistol, I remembered swapping out the main and recoil springs for lighter ones a couple of weeks ago. So my question is: will spring weight affect load performance? In my case, lighter springs causing lower velocity? I plan to answer that myself but not for a couple more weeks. But hoping others can share their experience on this matter.

    CZs in IDPA?

I don't think it is because CZ aren't popular but that Glocks and M&Ps are so much more popular. You can't go into a gun store without seeing not one but an array of guns from one of these makers. CZs tends to be overshadowed by them. And availability of CZs can be hit and miss. You and I probably shot the same Saturday match at PRGC . I was the one shooting a P07.
  16. I'm partial to CZ and particularly P-07/P-09 platform. The P-07/P-09 platform has a lot of potential. If you can get over the SA trigger take up, the P-09 can be a great competition gun with upgrade parts from CGW and CZCustom. I share your concerns about the high price of mags for the P-07/P-09. In the grand scheme of things, it is a drop in the bucket. Here is how I see it: $500 gun, $300 mags, $300 upgrade parts equals competition ready. Make Ready!
  17. I'm currently looking at a tool bag myself. This one Bucket Boss tool bag http://www.bucketboss.com/64018.html
  18. I have a few pounds of Ramshot Competition and just ordered 147gr FP coated lead bullets on the way. Based on Ramshot's load data, I may be able to achieve 127PF but at max load. I already use the powder with 124gr RN plated and it has a light snap recoil at 950fps. Bowenbuilt is pointing you in the right direction.
  19. I have tried 5.1gr - 5.5gr of Longshot behind 124gr Extreme RN and my experience is different. I perceived the recoil to be slower and more of a push. Slow enough to witness the slide "pause" before moving forward after each shot. Shooting out of CZ P-09 and P-07.
  20. As suggested by Arlin, try adding some weight on the plastic rod. I myself just added a .45 case to the end. Other things to try/verify: 1. Primer cup is at the right height(please refer to the manual for height range). 2. Clean the priming mechanism - You may need to disassemble. 3. Verify the primer cup isn't rubbing against the sides as it is moving under the primer magazine to accept a primer. - This was my issue - I just rotated the cup until it wasn't rubbing. 4. Inspect the primer magazine plastic tip make sure it isn't cracked - Another issue I ran into as a newbie. 5. Until I figured out #3 and #4, I would pull back on the primer back to ensure it was going all the way back and the primer dropped into the cup. 6. Full strokes - up and down. Good luck.
  21. I wouldn't expect Freedom 147gr @ 1.15in to spin at all. I have to load much shorter to get 147gr to spin freely in my CZ which is why I don't load 147gr at this time. Rubbing on 115gr rounds leads me to believe your CZ has an unusually short chamber but don't rule out the extractor ALSO contributing to your woes. Time to find out your Max OAL. http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=34225.0 I'd invest in a good set of calipers. Vince
  22. Mine started out with a safety but quickly switched to the decocker after seeing someone fumble trying to manually decock their pistol and AD it. The pinch method is your friend.
  23. Welcome to the broken TRS club! Now get yourself a few replacements from CGW or CZC and be set. Mine broke about the same round count.
  24. Short answer is yes. SDB means pistol calibers. So... have you tried to lube your cases? It has helped me during long reload sessions. Also, I try not to load more than a few hundred at a time. Helps avoid soreness. Now let me put on my Personal Trainor hat... If it is cold, I'd keep that shoulder warm. Throw a coat on. Kinda like what pitchers do between innings . After your reload session, ice it and consider taking ibuprofen if necessary. Lastly, strengthen those shoulder muscles. No need to hit the gym. Grab a few boxes of bullets and do standing shoulder presses. Good luck.
  25. Yes it does. I had a long loading session this weekend and about 500 round into it I mistakenly grabbed a box of clean but not lubed 9mm brass. I thought I broke something after I had to use way more force to get a the first two cases sized in station 1.
