  1. You'd be surprised what is available for P-07 and P-09 nowadays. Don't hesitate to contact the holster makers. They don't always update their websites. I'm currently breaking in my new holster from Dara Holsters to be used in our local matches. Glad it was only a DQ.
  2. Nice pic 9x45. Here is my kaboom first and hopefully last. Brass was range pick up. Needless to say, I now inspect and sort all my brass.
  3. I have a second P-07 on its way and it will get CGW and CZC parts also. Current pistol will become my recreation/competition gun and the new one will be my EDC. I am drinking the "compete with what you carry" Kool-Aid!
  4. Assuming P-07 and P-09 share many of the same parts, my P-07's TRS broke at 2K rounds and hundred dry fire pulls later the stock FP broke. Replaced TRS with CZCustom one and installed CGW extended FP. 10K later still going strong.
  5. Is this for pistol cases only or will it work for .223 cases? How much lanolin do you put on the strips? Thanks. It works great for pistols brass and okay for 223(i've only done it once for 223 cases). I put a line of oil on one strip, lay another cloth strip on top and repeat. Then use my fingers to rub the strips to distribute the oil. Throw some brass in the jar, add a strip and repeat. Roll it around, dump, sort then load. Brass has a very thin layer of oil. May not be perfect, but it is was what I had laying around. Best part is I just store the strips in the jar until my next reload.
  6. I use "Now Foods Liquid Lanolin Pure, 4 Ounce" from Amazon.com. I apply to a few 1"x4" strips of lint free microfiber cloth. Add the strips plus clean brass into a sturdy plastic jar (large mayo jar). Shake and roll it around for 1-2 minutes. Dump, sort and start loading. Coat is enough for smooth press operation but light enough it doesn't need to be wiped off.
  7. Longshot was the powder I had on hand when I started handloading two years ago. Since then I have acquired more suitable 9mm powder. I started at 4.7gr, Xtreme 124gr FP, 1.050in OAL and worked up to 5.0gr. The recoil was a slow and strong push if that makes sense compared to factory WWB and Magtech ammo. Didn't have a chrono at the time, so no data to share.
  8. Previous posts are all very helpful. In addition to them, I'd add it depends on the powder. My powder measurements are all over the place if I just poured powder into an empty powder measure. After 10 or so drops, samples are more consistent. With flake powder like 700-X it takes a twice as many drops if not more to get some consistency. Once I'm satisfied then I'll start loading. I measure every 10 then every 100 during the same loading session. With flake, I keep at least three quarters full if I can. Good luck.
  9. I'm currently loading Xtreme 124gr RN and previous to that 124GR FP. My bullets do have a "ring" when pulled with or without crimp and from various 9mm brass, but mostly Win. I bell the cases just enough where the bullet sits upright for seating and "crimp" to undo most of the belling. Measurements are between 0.379-0.380in. In my setup, crimp has a significantly less impact on accuracy compared to bullet type, OAL and powder. Later three variable are currently being "fiddle" with in my attempt to find an accurate load.
  10. Finished a batch last night using 9mm brass lubed with lanolin. I loaded a couple of rounds and found that the OAL's were 0.001" to 0.0015" shorter. Not a surprise and adjusted seating die appropriately. Compared to non-lubed brass, it was relatively effortless with lubed brass. I use a Dillion 550L with Dillion dies. Here is what I did: Bought a bottle of lanolin oil, http://www.nowfoods.com/Liquid-Lanolin-Pure-4-oz.htm Cut a micro-fiber screen wipes into 8 squares. Added two-three drops of lanolin on each square and spread it as evenly as possible. Placed the lanolin saturated squares and two handfuls of brass in a large plastic mayo jar. Rolled it around for a minute or two. Dumped the cases in a bin. Placed the squares back in the mayo jar for future use. Started my reloads. I checked the rounds a few days later and they didn't feel as "slick" as the first day. I will still quickly wipe them down before taking them out to the range.
  11. Wilderness tactical has belts as short as 24".
  12. Owned three different generations of Tacomas. Current one is a 2010 DoubleCab 4x4 TRD off road. The quality of the Tacoma has suffered over the past 8+ years and only in the last 3 have they addressed most of the "popular" ones. Previous posts have already shared some. My personal "gripe": More than some but not as many as "many" Tacomas suffer from pre-ignition or knocking, depends on who you talk to. In short, engine under load( hauling, or accelerating) exhibit pings/knocks if the rpms are somewhere around 1500. Toyota is aware of the problem. Solution: running 91+ octane quiets it down a bit but does not get rid of it. I am told 2013+ Tacomas can be "fixed" with a software upgrade. Unfortunately, mine does not qualify. If I had to do it all over again, I would get a Tundra or F-150. Tacoma are "fun" but ... they have their share of issues. I have too much vested in mine and will keep it for as long as it runs. Good luck.
  13. I use Ramshot Competition for light to moderate loads in 9mm with 115gr and 124gr Xtreme bullets. In my experience, this powder meters very well in my 550. I am still learning to develop a good moderate load for my training purposes but here is what I have found after going through 1 lb of it: Doesn't leave much soot in the barrel more so in the cases. Sometimes there is unburnt powder stuck to the inside of the case wall. You will find a few posts on this forum regarding this powder and how it is a suitable replacement for N320 almost grain for grain. Here are my current loads, YMMV. (Ran out of 115gr bullets before I could try more loads) 3.6gr RS Comp 1.130in OAL Xtreme 115gr RN I've worked up to 3.9gr for 124gr bullets but felt without a chrono, I was asking for trouble. I've since backed down to 3.7gr which is .2gr over recommended "max" load. This is my current load for training until I find more suitable pistol powder. 3.7gr RS Comp 1.050in OAL Xtreme 124gr FP I shoot CZ P-07 and P-09 9mms but not a regular competitor. Unless you are willing to go beyond RS's load guide for max load, I'm not sure it will meet minor PF.
  14. The variation in powder drop is concerning. Based on Hodgon's site, starting and max load charges have a difference of 0.4 grains for many of their W231 9mm loads. That is ALL of your margin. Add to that COL margin of 0.009" in certain calibers may not be significant. I load 9mm on a 550B and get variations of 0.1 grains of powder and COL of 0.002" even with shotgun powder. It took time and effort to dial it in just right. If you want a blue press, my advice is to keep an eye out for people wanting to get out of reloading and pick up a used one. With prices of factory ammo dropping, the financial benefits are not as appealing which may cause some to dump their presses. Good Luck.
  15. +1 for full shell plate. I don't mix brass with and without spent primers, that will cause OAL variations. I set aside the first and last 4-5 rounds of my loading session since they have the greatest deviation. Consistent up and down stroke speed/rhythm. I do stop and start to measure powder and OAL about every 10 for the first 100 then every 25-50 thereafter. I'm pretty happy with Xtreme 124GR RN an FP. Just did a batch of 500 last night. OAL varied 0.002" at the most. I do sort my brass and bullets. I use a 550B with Dillion 9mm dies. Good luck.
  16. I love my CZ pistols but as close to perfect as they are for me they all needed some part replacements after several thousand rounds. Trigger reset spring in my 75b and P07 and firing pin in my P07 and P09 all broke over the past five years. They have since been replaced with CZC or CGW parts. I didn't bother contacting CZ for stock replacements. I run them very hard. So long as you maintain them they will serve you well. I trust all my CZ pistols.
  17. I inhale slowly until sights are on target. Then hold or slow my inhale even more and take the shot. What I try not to do it take a deep breath as I'm trying to get on target cause it take too much time, tend to tense up and hurry the shot.
  18. 02" to .04" ?? sounds pretty excessive, especially if you're loading 9mm, that much variance will really effect pressure, I never get more than .005" variation with my 550B, did you move the decimal point one spot to the right ? I bet he meant to post 0.002" - 0.004". In my experience, the first and last rounds are off by 0.002", round in between deviate by no more than 0.001". For the OP, I suggest taking a sized case minus a new primer and try to seat a round in the case by hand. If it goes into the case, then your sizer die is not doing its job. The belling is to assist with keeping the bullet in the case until it is seated. The crimper is used to remove the belling and NOT intended to "hold" the bullet in its place. That's the job of the case after it has been sized properly. I agree with bowenbuilt, it is likely your EGW die. My CZs have tight chambers and I use Dillion dies with mixed range pick up brass. Never had a failure related to case out of spec and no bullet setbacks after chambering multiple times. I don't bell more than necessary it is just to keep the bullet from falling out of the case and I barely crimp. Good luck.
  19. Same here 1k+ 9mm reloaded and shot using warm loads. A few hundred loaded and shot x2 so far. Using 550B press, CCI #500 and various powders. If you search hard enough, people have measured cut open 9mm brass. They all are thicker towards the head. I think Ammoload added a bit more possibly to reduce case volume. Like any other brass, I still sort and inspect.
  20. I like X-Treme 115gr and 124gr RN. Very accurate out of my CZ. Last time I ordered, the cost came out to $0.07/bullet for 115gr RN which I consider the best value of any brand out there.
  21. I like the idea of using a silicone spray. It is inert and probably won't affect performance. I do have occasional OAL variances so I'd like to squash that. I'm going to give it a try.
  22. I tried RS Competition for the first time. 3.0gr, 115gr Xtreme RN, 1.135 oal. Cycles fine but won't slide lock My CZ P-07. I plan to try 3.2-3.6gr next time out. Don't have a chrono but will share data when I do. It has a noticeable flash.
  23. I like the Wilderness Instructor's belt with the 5 stitched option. For me, it is stiff enough for matches but comfortable for everyday wear carry or not.
  24. Hey Neighbor. I'm in the market for a press with my eye on the Dillion SDB for 9mm. Will you be loading 9's also?
  25. Hi All, I've been casually shooting for a few years and my primary pistol is a CZ P07 9mm. Although punching paper is nice, I've recently built a steel target stand and head out to the desert to satisfy my addiction of hearing lead hit steel. I look forward to learning and sharing on this forum. Thanks, Vince
