  1. I agree with Jack as long as you aren't near max for powder. Since this is 9mm most likely at minor PF levels then there should be no problem, if this was major ammo I would say to back off on powder and oal then work up again.
  2. Wong call, he started a range command and the shooter followed. I would over turn this in a heart beat.
  3. Shot placement is key. In terms of loading, forget power factor you want to think in kinetic energy, a heavy bullet going fast.
  4. I use the oem extended one.
  5. +1 on getting it as tight as you can.
  6. I thought that there was a minimum number of classifiers that a club needed to submit yearly to keep uspsa affiliation. Are you asking about a classifier at a weekly practice match or a sanctioned level I match?
  7. Seater/crimp die removes the need for that fourth die.
  8. This looks great, now I might have to get around to doing mine.
  9. If the 21 you shot was an SF frame then it the same 4x4 but if not then you will be pleasantly surprised with the reduction. I would go to your lgs and feel the difference between a standard and an SF frame. Even with my giant mitts I prefer the slimmer ones. Hope this helped.
  10. I leave it in, only use one kind of powder though.
  11. G30s had the G36 slide on the 30SF frame. Pretty much a G19 with a fatter grip in terms of size.
  12. If you enjoy shooting GSSF and you only have a 17 I would go with a G30S. You can compete in Heavy metal, Major Sub and Subcompact in addition to the Civ/Guard, Competition, Master stock and Unlimited your 17 is better suited for. Although I would love a G41, just because but I believe it is only allowed in competition/unlimited.
  13. A stormlake barrel will do just fine.
  14. It'll work, just the extractor is different between the two calibres. Shouldn't give you a problem though.
  15. Your setup sounds about right, the longer barrel should help you make major easier so you could tune the load to your gun. Why are you adding the frame weight though? If your comp is working the right way then you shouldn't need the weight to absorb the recoil and you would have less mass to move for transitions. Good luck finding all of your parts over there.
  16. I used a pound of blue dot once with 124 MG jhp tips. All I remember is I had to get it to the high 1100 fps range to make it semi clean, anything lower and I had unburnt powder everywhere. This was out of a G34 with a factory barrel, loaded to 1.15" oal. I would try to get my hands on some Red dot or even Unique if you could. Sorry for not answering your question but just letting you know of my experience with it.
  17. I thought I got a deal when I payed 35 for mine. This is a pretty good product once you work out the kinks, I recommend it at this price.
  18. Those look fantastic, keep us posted with how it holds up with use.
  19. Red dot gives a nice soft shooting minor behind a 147 tip. Unique is a very good all round powder, I like to keep a pound or two on hand for as back up, will work in most pistol calibres and weights. Blue dot is a decent slow powder for open.
  20. I used a few thousand tulas about a year back and had high light strike counts. I just ran them through a different gun to see if they would pop (Hammer vs striker). if they didn't go off then I just took em apart and used the components as usual. I have stopped using Tula since.
  21. What OAL did you load these out at?
  22. A local mentor would be the best, easiest, quickest way of getting what you want. But to explain the scoring a little bit. Accuracy is important. Time is also important. Divide points by seconds and you get something called Hit Factor. This is what they use to score the stage. So mathematically you can see if you losing some points but saving more time will help you for any given stage. After a bit you will get the hang of it but as RGS said, a mentor could explain all of this very easily. Good luck and be safe.
  23. Been happy with Dawson's but any of the above mentioned are good picks.
  24. I wasn't implying that going straight into open being a bad thing, it's just that the division is fairly equipment heavy. Getting your gun to run reliably and making major safely can be pretty daunting if you have no prior experience with it. As I have read in a members signature "Open is a lot like death metal; Loud, Fast, and not for everyone." But I do agree that open will really bring out your flaws and you can grow as a shooter much quicker using that kind of gun.
