  1. I have browsed around and haven't seen a thread discussing limited class optics, so I figured I would post it up. This last year, I shot limited with an aimpoint red dot and wanted to know what other non-magnified optics guys are using and using well. I have seen Eotechs and even some trijicons, so is there anything else out there people are using? If you are using a non-magnified optic, what is it, what reticle are you using, and why?
  2. I'm also a 50/200 zero guy and it has treated me well.
  3. I never find the good deals. Nice score OP!
  4. I second the geisselle 2stage triggers. Simply amazing and I love them.
  5. Way too easy ming, way to easy. Ha-ha I think the kkm barrels are .401 but don't quote me. I for one would email or call kkm and save u the hassle with this whole slugging concept.
  6. Short flat sti trigger for me. Its the only way. No matter where your finger is at on the trigger, its always flat. Its the only way in my opinion.
  7. Ah the world of the 2011, where everything needs custom fit. Seriously though, look where it needs fit, slowly remove material, check fit, rinse and repeat.
  8. If you go to rainierarms, they have several billet combo sets for sale. Nowadays, theres lots of options. I'm going with the Rainier ultramatch combo set for my next 3gun build.
  9. I broke a Phoenix Trinity safety a few months ago on my Limited pistol. Had about 25,000 rounds through the gun and during a match it broke where the two pieces come together. I am attributing it to normal wear and tear. It happens when you use a mechanical device often. And like all things in my life, it happened 5 days before Area 1. So instead of shooting my Akai custom, I shot my buddies backup gun - a stock STI. Still did decent but wished I had my own gun. This winter, I will have a backup fitted, so I don't have this issue again.
  10. I'm not speaking of mechanical accuracy, I'm more on the concept of velocity from a longer barrel, etc. And MarkCO, in another thread you said you ran an 18 inch Nordic on your longer range gun and kept the stretch for shorter range courses. Don't tell me you are changing your mind now. ha-ha.
  11. Thanks for bringing up the Aero Precision mount. I see it weighs in at 3.27 ounces whereas the Warne mount is 6.7 ounces. In relation to the Stretch16, I have read quite a bit about it, and even contemplated it. My main concern is consistent long range accuracy. If I was shooting 200 yds or less, I would go with the stretch16, I'm just concerned on the long range accuracy. Perhaps its unfounded and after shooting the 18inch, maybe I will gravitate to the stretch16. Oh so many options, yet so little time.
  12. Thanks for the clarification on the gas block. I will go with a non-adjustable. MarkCO - I like the idea of saving money, so I will take your suggestion on the JP spring and buffer. When it comes to the optic, I agree, the Vortex is quite a bit heavier then the Swaro Z6i. I have went back on forth on optic and will probably delay buying an optic until I can settle this argument in my head. The swaro is half the weight and in the long run, every ounce matters. My one thing I'm trying to justify is if every ounce matters to the tune of over $1000 bucks more for a Swaro. Thanks for the comments thus far. Keep em coming.
  13. Alright, I have decided to assemble a new rifle for 3gun. This last year, I used my stock KAC SR15 with red dot, and have decided to now build a dedicated 3gun rifle. I compete in matches with targets out to 550 to 600 yds, so will be focusing on an 18'' build. Here is what I have so far. Thoughts or comments are always appreciated. I don't know why, but I have always enjoyed build threads, so I thought I would throw mine out for everyone. UPPER: RAINIER Arms Ultramatch Billet Upper & Ambi lower combo set - mod 3 (I must have an ambi lower, as I'm a crazy lefty) Nordic 18'' barrel with rifle length gas chambered in 223 wylde Syrac adjustable gas block Precision Armament M4-72 comp JP LMOS carrier group with bolt AXTS Raptor ambi charging handle Lancer Carbon fiber XL handguard (still up in the air on which handguard I'm going with. I want a carbon fiber but still up in the air) LOWER: Rainier Arms billet upper/lower combo set (already mentioned above) Ergo or Hogue pistol grip JP Lower parts kit JP Silent buffer spring kit Seekins ambi safety Geisselle SSA-E (because I really like a 2-stage trigger) Rifle will be topped off with a Vortex Razor HD 1-6 in a Warne mount (won the mount at a match a few weeks ago) So what does everyone think? My one uncertainty is on the handguard. I would like to go carbon fiber to save weight but am still uncertain on exact one. I do not want a round handguard, rather I want a handguard with a flat bottom, so any ideas on other carbon fiber handguards?
  14. If you are scraping the coating off, then you need to increase the bell on the case before you seat the bullet. You should not scrape the coating off during reloading.
  15. Per an earlier response in this thread, you said you run an 18 inch Nordic. Did you also do heavy testing of 18 inch barrels? If you did, what made you choose a Nordic over other 18 inch length barrels? Thanks in advance
  16. I also recommend Warne. Great mounts, lots of guys run them, and they are giant supporters of our sport.
  17. I agree with several posters. The only way to do load development is to have a chrono and actually know what your velocities are in YOUR gun. I really like the competition electronics prochrono. Its cheap and a really solid unit. I like mine alot.
  18. I reload tons of glock range brass for my 2011 and just use a standard set of carbide Dillon dies. I have yet to have an issue and I have shot 10s of thousands of glock once fired pieces of brass through my 2011. I just size them like normal and go. Never an issue.
  19. Yep, get a dremel with a sanding wheel and get to slowly removing material. Let us know exactly how much material you had to remove and where, I'm curious. Thanks
  20. I have loaded and shot 30k rounds of bayou 180 grainers with n320. I do not notice any smoke and really like this combo. Very accurate and smooth. My major load is 4.7 of n320 with an OAL at 1.2, which gives me 170pf.
  21. I have a stroked akai limited 5inch and I cut two coils off of a 13 lb spring. This is exactly what Shay told me to do.
  22. Kcobean is correct, just get a back up gun. Then you have an entire spare part for your primary. I keep springs, extractor, firing pins, and fiber for my optics. I have broken a safety before, so I really should have one fitted then keep it in my bag. I think I will do this during the off-season this winter.
  23. AZgunnut, 50 ounces unloaded??!!! Geez.
  24. Very good points Greyhounder. To ignore a segment of the shooting industry that spends TONS of money each year on this sport is mind boggling. I'm actually surprised more manufacturers aren't involved in this game at a bigger level.
