  1. Nice run. I wondered what you were doing to do with that last popper after the OS port load round
  2. I dq'd stage 1 first thing Friday morning but my son was smarter than me and got to shoot all 12 stages. I spent the rest of the weekend watching how the stages were being run. I saw more than one stage with different requirements on Saturday than were in place on Friday. Also got to see several guys on a squad at stage 10 do the same 180 violation I did with their shotgun but no match dq's issued for them. RO even warned my squad that he was tired of having shotguns pointed at him. I earned my and didn't argue with the RO or MD abouth their decision since I made the mistake. Unfortunately, the enforcement of rules and intent of the stage rules was left open to interpretation.
  3. This is not a good sign. I wonder how many of the stage designs are finalized now?
  4. I'm leaving Ft Worth around noon. If they're posted before then I'll print some for those that cannot. PM me if you want my contact info. This is only my second major match but the first one seemed to have a better handle on this. Nicely printed and bound match booklets at registration, stages posted several days in advance. Same cost too.
  5. Yes, going from a flash hider to any comp you would have noticed a huge difference. The fact that you went from worst to one of the best makes that a dramatic difference!
  6. That's what I was thinking when I was trying to get the seating depth right. Sure had to sink a lot of the bullet in the casing to get the length to 2.255. Thanks all!
  7. I am trying to work up a load for the .224 Berger 75gr VLD bullets. The BC for these is significantly higher than for sierras or noslers so I'd like to have this load for long distance+high winds at 3gun. We routinely shoot to 500 - 600 yards so I get lots of practice at this. My normal load is 23.8 gr of 8208 with a 69gr smk, 2900 fps out of a 18" JP barrel. The groups I've shot with the Bergers so far on the 8208 have not been good so I'm thinking I need a slower powder. I'd love to test Varget but cannot find any. Anyone have success loading this bullet for 3gun?
  8. Nice! I'm running the same seekins receiver / hand guard with a JP lightweight barrel. It's my "no excuses" rifle.
  9. I used a Burris xtr 1-4 last year and it was a good scope. Went to the Bushnell 1-6.5 for this year and it is a major step up in optical clarity. The extra magnification helps some but it's not near as important as the improvement in the glass.
  10. If your gun can handle it, shoot it. Testing ammo is what practice is for. I can't imagine that a modern semi auto such as Benelli, versamax or beretta wouldn't be designed to handle such a load occasionally.
  11. At one match I saw several shooters on my squad rotate a spinner with one shot from a pretty good distance. I wished I had some that day. I won't be at a match without them now.
  12. just kidding. I've used it a couple of times in practice and while it kicks, it's not as bad as the full velocity rio buckshot I bought, once...
  13. It knocked my shoulder out of socket once...
  14. If the target requires 3" prairie storms, I'll take the penalty instead of the punishment. I'm running 2-3/4".
  15. I think that has been up for awhile - I was hoping for an update since we are 3 weeks out. How about now since we're 10 days out now...
  16. I really like how at 7:55 it showed registration had changed to April 2. Sure glad I decided to check this thread. Me and the Boy Wonder are in
  17. ^^^^^^. THIS. ^^^^^ Loading fast is a good ability. Not needing to load fast because you don't need makeup shots is an even better one.
  18. When I was developing loads for my new seekins I started to get some separations on Winchester brass on my higher, but well within normal, loads. I checked the rest of the unfired brass for signs of failure, none found. Checked headspace, all good. Then I realized that I hadn't adjusted the gas block on the new rifle. Got that set correctly and no more separations. So maybe you are over gassed?
  19. I don't shoot limited but when getting my prescription shooting glasses made I went with the Rudy project, Impactx photo red lens. I noticed an immediate improvement when I switched to those from my shallow blue polarized Oakleys. They've been good for me in all light conditions as well.
  20. Something that has been helpful to me is the benefit of training with a much better shooter. I video his stage runs, and then mine from the same pov. Compare later and see how he does things differently. When training by myself, I setup the camera to capture all my movements and then run the same stage several times to see the difference in my good stage times vs the bad ones. I send those videos to my mentor to have him critique.
  21. Thanks Trace! I haven't been in there in a while so maybe it's time to stop in.
