  1. She probably could but after the interview you did with Jerry he'll probably scratch you off the squad
  2. What he said!!!!!!!!! Truly. The posted stage descriptions from last year were a good representation of what to expect but they could not have been used as a substititute for a walkthrough and stage briefing. I'd expect the same for this year. Just show up with your guns, gear and ammo
  3. What are you seeing? Optional ways to stage guns? It's in the description for stages 3, 7, and 10.
  4. Stages look incredible! Stage 9 looks really interesting...
  5. Or off of a giant chunk of rock. Surprisingly, the rock was pretty steady once you had your lower body comfortable. It's the wind in the valley when there is no wind at the rock that is tricky. If it wasn't for the visible bullet splash last year, I would have been in big trouble. Hell last year there was wind at the rock, in the valley, and up on the slope all going different directions until day three. I don't think some of my bullets even got to the target side intact.
  6. I bought a SIRT trainer because I got it cheap and it's fun to play with using 1/3 size IPSC targets but I have to be careful to not "walk the laser in" and focus on the front sight. When I do my job and really concentrate on the front sight then it's beneficial. But it's easy to get lazy with.
  7. This summer I bought a versamax from a friend. The gun had been worked by a reportedly top-line gun shop. Immediately upon checking the gun I found that the shop had installed the carbon arms tube incorrectly causing some loading problems. My friend had mentioned this so it wasn't a surprise, he just didn't know what was causing it. As soon as I tried to correct the tube problem I discovered more problems with the receiver. I had planned to send the gun to Crucible Armament anyway for a trigger job and cerakoting so I quit messing with it and sent it to Hadley, fully expecting to need a new receiver. Hadley did his magic on the gun, installed a new carbon arms tube and returned it to me. I quickly discovered that the gun wasn't quite right since the standard Nordic follower wanted to catch at the edge of the receiver. I reported back to Hadley, still thinking that I'd have to replace the receiver, but Hadley suggested that a slightly oversized follower might be the answer. A few days later I received two custom made and coated followers. A quick check and all seemed well as the follower dropped right in and behaved perfectly at the edge of the receiver. The gun cycled dummy rounds just fine but the real test would be live fire. Yesterday afternoon was my first chance to shoot the gun at a local club practice session. And the results are.....the gun ran flawlessly! Hadley could have easily told me I needed a new receiver and charged me for the feed port work and additional cerakoting. But instead he made me two custom followers at no charge and spent the time to fix the problem caused by another shop. AND....the gun came with a 26" barrel and after I shot a little with it decided that I'd like a 22" barrel like I have on my other versamax. Hadley had a 22" barrel in his shop, coated it and sent it to me in exchange for the 26, again at no charge. Not sure about anyone else, but to me that is what great customer service is all about.
  8. sounds like a goood plan to me. I like the versamax platform but mine has been worked over, tweaked, and refined to where it's perfect for me. I don't think I'd want to take either one out of the box and get as much out of the shotgun part of the class as you'd like to.
  9. I did the match last year with less than a years experience and it kicked my ass. Based on the popularity of this match, I strongly doubt that there are any available spots for this year.
  10. Our local MD puts slug / buck targets in the middle of arrays all the time so we get a lot of practice on this. My personal experience with trying to preload the tube for the targets doesn't work because I will inevitably miss a target, or have a ftf, or something to put the slug in the chamber before I want it there. So I prefer to load on the fly, putting the slug or buck in the tube one target before I need it. I prefer to quad load but keep a normal 4 round or 4x4 caddie on my left side in these stages so I can pull just one round when I need it.
  11. Daniel, for the majority of matches, both the local NTMG and majors, you'll be fine if you can carry two pistol mags, a rifle mag, and 20 +/- shotgun shells. Yes, Jeremy likes to push us and will put a high round count stage, or two, or three in a match. The only time you "need" extra gear is for the high shotgun count stages since shells coming out of your pocket is a slow loading method. But you can always drop a rifle mag or pistol mag into your pocket and be just as effective as if it came off your batman belt. Now if you're needing a reason to justify a purchase to your wife just tell her "it's what all the cool guys are using".
  12. There were 20 steels and 12 papers, plus or minus a couple. Daniel, I had to sit out this match but when I first saw the stage description the first thing that came to mind was "don't miss on the steel plates". I know, easier said than done sometimes but on a stage like that it's critical to have the patience to get the sight picture you need and break the shot cleanly. You should have been able to complete that with your three extended mags and had a few left over. I might have carried a fourth, just in case.
  13. Not sure about the other big dogs but JP had just sponsored the hell out of the Rocky Mtn World 3Gun just two weeks before.
  14. Put on a Nordic mxt extension. You can go as few as +2 to as long a tube as you want to run.
  15. I just saw where you said you cranked your scope up to 24 power. That's way higher than you need for 100 yard load development. And way more than you'd want on any three gun match. Get used to using your lowest power, which is my highest power.
  16. Nothing is welded to that barrel. Well, the gas chambers aren't just glued there or strapped on. Do tell, how are the chambers attached to the barrel? They don't appear to be machined in place.
  17. Yes, it was the training coming back but.... in that match I did load 2 stronghand. All I'd ever done in competition before Invictus was load 2 weakhand! Go figure... Must be the caddies
  18. When I'm working on my groups for load development I can really get in tune with my heart rate and get the timing right. I won't break a shot unless I'm in that groove. A perfectly still reticle is not possible when you're touching the gun. Using front and rear bags helps tremendously. I wouldn't try to shoot load development groups without them. And don't forget to breathe. Time the shot so that you're exhaling and in between heartbeats and you'll see the results you're after.
