  1. I have zero intention of whacking the barrel against a tree, or other bending methods
  2. I second this for starting point. I bought a new Supernova, opened up the feed port, put on a nordic tube, then had my gunsmith shorten the action rods and smooth the extractor cut and I have a damn fast, super easy to load pump gun that cost less than $1k. And then I bought a versamax
  3. Thanks co-exprs. I did check birdshot pattern with the diffuser, LM, and LF chokes and I didn't notice any right shift. It may not be all that bad, but I would like better.
  4. My son took the vmax to the bench yesterday with the Federal low recoil 1 oz slugs and this is what he got. Except for the flyer, 8" right at 50 yards. This is from a 22" barrel with a briley LM choke, CA one-piece mag tube, and no barrel clamp. Sights are mid dot, hi viz front. I'm disappointed by this, but then again having read other posts about slug POI vs POA not too terribly surprised. Suggestions? Besides aim left.....
  5. I've done this on one MME and wouldn't do it again. The springs on the MME are influenced by the location of the factory belt loops. The TMMS changes their position. I've got Otto's and AP's on TMMS.
  6. I know I'm late to join this topic but if I'm reading this right, you can consistently hit near the center of a standard target at 100 to 300 yards. What's the problem with that? Unless you're shooting some match where the score is based on how tight your group is at distance all you need is two on paper, or one hit on steel. I can routinely shoot 1/2 moa groups at 100 yrds with my rifle off a bipod but have never even given a second thought to shooting a tight group at a match. Unless you have a really evil MD setup the course, your long range targets will be 8 - 10" diameter or larger. All you need is one bullet to hit the steel, and I really don't care where it hits as long as it splats and goes "ding". I am a relative newbie to competitive shooting and 3G and from what I've learned so far, I recommend you work more on being able to hit the long range targets when shooting from barricades, using trees / rocks for support, prone on a rock, etc... Also work on your transition from the shotgun / pistol to the rifle and getting in position / breaking that first shot as efficiently as possible. And if you haven't shot a 3 g match yet, stop trying to get ready and just do it. Unless you train with an experienced shooter who can setup a realistic course, there is no practicing you can do that will get you ready. Just go shoot a match!
  7. My C-rums lifter should arrive today so I went to the range without trying to load it quick - didn't want to lose a thumb. 75 rounds through mine this morning, three different brands / loads, a couple of hangups because I didn't have any lube on the bolt to start but then smooth as glass after that. I shot 2 groups of 3 slugs from 30 feet and 100 feet (short bays). My POI is low and right, shooting offhand. I didn't go to the rifle range / bench to see if it was me or the gun.
  8. I feel the same way - whether it's shooting a match, or just practicing, I cannot wait to get back out and do it again!
  9. Great story and write up! I shot my first match in January this year and am seriously hooked. Yeah, just what my addictive personality needed!
  10. Good idea James! I'm hoping to pick mine up from ADM today and give it a run tomorrow morning. It'll be good to have yours to compare to as well.
  11. ATV mount gun racks work great on the frame of the stroller. Get a big wheeled baby jogger, take off the extra junk, attach the racks and you're good to go. I don't recommend the Cabelas cart - seems cheaply made.
  12. I was recently shopping for a new scope for 3 gun and looked at everything from $600 to $1800. One you might look at is the SWFA tactical scopes http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-MRAD-Scopes-C4225.aspx I was close to purchasing one of these but I ended up with a Burris XTR 1-4. My son has been running the XTR for a while in 3Gun at distances from 15 yards to 600 with no problems. So I saved myself a few hundred and bought one. You might take a look at that scope.
  13. same with my xtr - it mounts in one place only, unless I get a universal plastic cat-tail
  14. Talon gun grips helps that a lot! I bought the gun grips before I bought the gun, knowing how aggressive the grips are.
  15. I've run nearly 1500 rds of swc through mine with not one ftf.
  16. Hey Phil! HOWDY back at'cha... Shooters - this guy makes and sells some great loads. I couldn't afford to shoot if I hadn't met Wild Phil.
  17. From Fort Worth, Texas. Ok, we really don't all talk that way and wear big hats. But I am an Aggie - so Howdy!!! Let's go send some lead downrange....
