  1. Ah, but it’s in the defining of what makes an arrow better that there seems to be some disagreement. I believe a Glock is a better gun for me than a 1911 because it fits my hand better and is easier for me to shoot. This game could go on for a while. And, the better arrow discussion should relate more to the other discussion about which bullet profile is better for knockdown steel. What we are really talking about here are the Bows used to launch the arrows…
  2. Jim, I am definitely NOT calling you a liar, because I have not done any testing to confirm or deny what you are saying, but it just doesn’t make sense to me how this can be the case in reality. Maybe in a laboratory, and in a vacuum or something. But not on a range, with actual steel targets. The only time I can envision bullet profile making a difference is in extreme edge hits where less than half the bullet head impacts the steel. Then a RN profile could glance off the edge and not impart enough of its force on the steel, but a full wadcutter would impart more force on the steel. But, I wonder if the feeding reliability you may give up by shooting wadcutters would be worth it. This is just my uninformed/unconfirmed/untested opinion.
  3. You know, now that I think about it, I’m totally OK with it along you a long time and not making any profit on mine. If fact, to help reduce your profit, I’ll even let you cover shipping. Shoot me a PM when it’s ready please.
  4. I find I am very competitive with my Glock. The secret has nothing to do with more practice. I just found a bunch of old geezers who can’t shoot worth a damn and started hanging out with them…
  5. Like the title says, I'm looking for a couple of Apex Action Enhancement kits for a Gen5 17 and a Slim Frame G43X. I am looking for them with the trigger bars. I can't find anyplace that currently has the in stock. Thanks, Cuz.
  6. Spinners are NOT knock-down steel. Generally speaking, knock-down steel is "supposed" to fall if you hit it, otherwise it's not properly calibrated. Normally, with a decent hit, even sub-minor ammo will work fine. But, I use the same 9mm load for all the games I play, so I'm using Minor PF. In my G17 steel gun it chrono's around 126 PF. In my Carry Optics G34 it's around 128, and in my other G34 it's around 132.
  7. As an old friend used to say, “it’s not the gun, it’s the gunner”.
  8. what are you basing this on? I guess technically, if you are considering the possibility of hitting the outside edge of the plate like 1mm on the edge, then the full wad cutter bullet would be king.
  9. The only profile that matters for knock-down steel is the one that feeds reliably in your gun. Nothing else matters.
  10. I just got my 43x slide back from Battle Werx, it was milled for a 407k and I must say I am very happy with it. The work was great, my stock sights provide a lower 1/4 co-witness which keeps them out of the way and not blocking the window. The Holosun sits very nicely on the slide. Battle Werx also did a G17 slide for my SRO and I am happy with that as well. I will certainly use them again for any Glock milling I need. Still waiting on my Sig P365 slide that I sent to Maple Leaf to be milled for another 407k red dot.
  11. Yes, I emailed their support, and they sent me out a new trigger. I rec'd and installed it a couple of days ago and it seems to work great. Haven't taken it out to the range yet.
  12. I plan to run the 17 as close to 125/126 PF. I want it to be the lowest PF gun of my 9mm. If I want more velocity I can step up through multiple different Glocks to get all the way to anout 133/134 PF from my Gen3 34.
  13. Nice setup, similar to mine except I use an Apex trigger kit with 4.0 lb striker spring. I went to the FCD plate after shearing the screws on my MOS plate twice. The FCD plate is a better design. This will become my backup once my G17 slide gets back from Battle Werx. I’m moving away from MOS and having a regular slide milled for SRO all the way back. I will also put a Timney trigger in it. what are you using for a striker spring? If it’s stock, are you worried about the 13 lb recoil spring not being strong enough to always get/keep it in battery? I was planning to bump up to a 15 lb recoil spring and 4.5-5.0 lb striker with my Timney. I went with the Taylor Freelance base pads, but not for any particular reason. They all seem to work well.
  14. Cuz

    Gen 5 G34 Mags

I have 5 of the Taylor Freelance +5 base pads and they all fit in the gauge with no problem.
  15. yeah, this is about it for me too. But I shoot Glocks and they tend to run when dirty as long as you don’t lube them. Sure, it may wear out a few years early, but that will be my kids problem, not mine. I’d almost rather just buy another gun than clean the one I’m shooting…
  16. I used to shoot 1911s and then 2011s until I discovered a Glock 34 back in around 2005. Been shooting them ever since. They are comfortable to hold and they just work. I’ve never really had reliability problems with any gun. If it doesn’t work, it’s gone. Simple as that. My fading eyesight is forcing me to move to optics, but I’ll stick with Glock through it all. They just seem to work best for me.
  17. I use the Dillon large size media separator. Bought it over 10 years ago and just like other high quality products, I long ago forgot what it cost me, but it’s been fantastic ever since I got it. No regrets.
  18. Well, I got my Timney in today and tried to install it in my Gen5 17 and I have the same problem as above. The trigger bar goes back until it hits the frame and then stops. If I apply additional pressure on the trigger, then the trigger bar will slide to the left a bit off that ledge on the frame and the sear will disengage the striker. This is a brand new Glock, and I don't trust myself with a dremel, so I emailed Timney support this morning, but haven't heard anything yet. I was really looking forward to getting this out to the range today.
  19. Interesting, I’m sort of going the other way. My Gen3 34 gives me a 135 PF, when I switch to a Gen5 34 the same ammo drops to around 129 PF. I’m hoping the Gen5 17 will put me at about 126 PF or so. I shoot mostly knockdown steel and a 120 PF would probably be fine, but I don’t want to drop below 125 PF just because.
  20. Just checking in for any updates on the TX22 Competition model. Not specifically for Steel Challenge, but more of a range toy with red dot. Are you guys still liking yours? Anyone else getting them? I’ve basically given up hope of getting a red dot mounted on my Glock 44 and am now considering the Taurus as a Carry Optics type of rimfire pistol. Thanks, Cuz
  21. That is good to hear. I’m usually well over that count before I resort to cleaning.
  22. Is this with a Timney trigger? With my Apex trigger I run a 13lb recoil with a 4.0 lb striker. I like this combo. I have a Timney on the way, which will allow me to increase the striker spring for reliability, but I wonder what affect that will have on my recoil spring options. I also tend to run my Glocks very dirty, cleaning every couple of years or so. It will be interesting to see how the Timney changes as the gun gets dirty.
  23. Lol, even his “in stock” items take twice as long as just about anywhere else to receive.
  24. Yup, you are right, they had them. But, I'm not quite ready to order from Estonia yet, so I'll keep looking. But, thanks for finding them.
