  1. My pleasure fpf! When I first bought my LNL, I also got the powder cop die. I thought it was silly and sold it because it's still required visual inspection, and I thought just looking at the powder in the case had the same result. I ended up replacing it with the RCBS lockout die. When setup properly it physically won't let you advance the press on a empty case. I recommend it to all new pistol reloaders. Only downside is potential powder spillage from the probe, especially when dumping powder for major loads.
  2. I don't think there's anything to be done for two major reasons. Younger shooters are growing up watching YouTubers talk about force multipliers and the necessity of being target focused at all times. Optics ready pistols are becoming the rule rather than the exception. Those new shooters buying their first guns are just starting with red dots. The second reason is older shooters losing their eyesight. It's a lot more enjoyable to put the dot on a target and hit what you're shooting at. It's easier to get a prescription that works with shooting red dots.
  3. Love it! Reminds me of those '90s laminate countertops with a gold-plated faucet. https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Wilsonart-4-ft-x-8-ft-Laminate-Sheet-in-Blackstar-Granite-with-Premium-High-Gloss-Finish-4551K13504896/202840219 & https://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Lyndhurst-2-Handle-Bridge-Kitchen-Faucet-with-Side-Sprayer-in-Matte-Gold-HD852N-0554405/304778420
  4. Lee also makes a universal expanding die. I picked it up because I found my 300 blackout cases shaving plated bullets even when chamfered properly. It has worked well for me. I agree the Hornady powder measure runs much smoother if not expanding cases at the same time. Hornady pistol dies, unlike Dillon, usually come with an expander die. This is because the Hornady powder drop system does not expand unless you acquire the additional PTX inserts (powder through expansion). My Hornady 9mm bullet feeder die came with the appropriate PTX insert, and they are also sold separately. This is due to losing station 3 for the bullet feeder die. That way, combining expansion and powder on the LNL in station 2, one could still powder check on station 4 and then seat & crimp in station 5 with Hornady's combo die. It seems that most prefer not to seat and crimp in the same die, but I have found once setup it's good to go. If separate seating and crimping dies are required, one could always ditch the powder check die in this scenario.
  5. I have used both federal small pistol and rifle primers with HS6 for major loads in my 2011 Trubor and can not tell the difference. The chrono data was near identical. Brownells Smyth Busters talk about it here on YouTube. The gist is the harder cup of the rifle primer is the only thing you really need to worry about when loading IPSC Major loads, but as always, they remind us to work up loads when changing components.
  6. Understood. Sorry to hear the Dillon powder measure was unsatisfactory for you. I shouldn't have assumed that you hadn't used the Dillon on that press and were just throwing parts together.
  7. Yeah can't expect Hornady to answer that question. Have you considered selling the Hornady and just buying a Dillon setup? Scheels and DAA both have the Dillon setup for about $130. The Hornady setup is more expensive with only MidSouth selling the complete unit for $180.
  8. Safety rules first. Cold range, only handle firearm at the line once directed by a RO, or at the safe table without ammo present. Finger on the trigger only when engaging targets, finger off the trigger when reloading. Explain the 180 rule. Don't flag yourself with the firearm. Explain the unloading show clear process. Explain the start position, gun position of the stage whether it's low ready or from the holster. If safeties are required for different guns or divisions. Tell them ears and eyes are required especially eyes because of splatter coming back off steel even from other pits. Then I usually tell them this is for fun. Nobody cares about your ability just about your safety. Explain it is a volunteer run event and that people are expected to help reset steel, paint steel, etc. If they are not the ondeck shooter or reloading mags after a run they should be helping. Ask if they have any questions or tell them who to ask if they have any questions throughout the day.
  9. I would set up alerts here, and on a of the few sites listed, if hunting for a deal: https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/787450911321?suggestion-term=787450911321
  10. Thanks for the pics! Looks pretty sweet. Only two things I would want to change is moving the optic mount a little closer to the slide and having the slide racker on the opposite side. I bet it will be a heavy pig.
  11. PA announced the GLx 1x prism and claims it has "near infinite" eye relief. Video from shot show . It looks very promising, available Q2. I had a 1x SLx and was annoyed with the eye relief so I sold it and replaced it with simple aimpoint T2 on a shorty AR. I shoot a few casual knock down steel matches a year with my girlfriend and we've shared my franken PCC with a 510c that has been very satisfactory. We are changing things up this year with a new build for her and she'll get the 510c. I'm upgrading my PCC to a light weight inspired Maxamundi upper and decided to try the 507 comp on a Scalarworks mount. It should be about half the weight of the 510C which has the spacer installed. If I don't like it I might try the new PA GLx 1x when it becomes available If I catch the right sale.
  12. I'm not home right now but I had these saved pics already on a scale. Iron sights, LOK S2 G10 grips, no mag @ 36.50 ounces: Romeo3 Max, LOK solid brass full weight @ ~9 ounces, Mec-Gar 17rd tube with Taran Extension @ 49.85 total ounces.
  13. That is exactly what I needed after adding a rachet and chopping my belts! Definitely less expensive then what I just bought. Thanks for bringing it to attention.
  14. Exciting, I want to see pics! My Google-fu struck out.
  15. I have a smaller Holosun 507k direct milled on my SP01, pics below. It hangs off just slightly. I had the optic cut done by Wager Machine. The same "K" footprint would work with the fully enclosed EPS & EPS Carry. The dimensions of the EPS Carry are 1.62"×1.07"×0.95" & EPS are 1.62"×1.19"×0.99". They are slightly wider than the 507K at 1.6"x0.98"x0.95" The 509T (different footprint) dimensions are 1.6"×1.16"×1.13" so you can imagine slightly more overhang and compare these numbers with the other optics you were interested in.
  16. Thanks for the reply. I have heard that the CZs beat up direct milled optics. It's one of the reasons I'm using the Romeo 3 with the no hassle SIG RMA process (so far). I'd rather not have broken optics but these are competition guns, not duty/self-defense. I'll consider installing a buff. I need to figure out which would work with the Bull Shadow. I know I have 2011 Wilson combat buffs laying around somewhere.
  17. I haven't shot a A01 but I did the same as Redhemi. I bought a Bull Shadow slide and fit it on my short dust cover CZ with some light sanding. I hit the raw metal with cold blue. I liked the Bull Shadow upper so much I sold my CTS-Accu slide to Redhemi to add to his long slide collection. I hate having extra slides around because they always turn into another full gun somehow.
  18. I started with a blade tech holster and now use red hill tactical. They both work very well. Both companies have supported shooting sports for years with sponsorships of matches and shooters. My GF has a GX, it's nice but a 16 week lead time is tough.
  19. I have two CZC Bull Shadows that I run without a buffer using CGW's 11 lb recoil spring. I just cracked my second Romeo 3 in the last 5000 rounds. Should I consider a buffer? Or does it have nothing to do with cracking optics?
  20. I definitely recommend it. He even states there's no perfect technique, you just have to try things and see what works for you. In the introduction he states there are only three things you need to shoot: see the target, put the sights on the target, and pull the trigger without moving the sights.
  21. Thanks for the explanation and the cool video! Personally, I've been trying different grip techniques this winter and actually putting in some effort with consistent dry fire after rereading Brian's book. I've always been one to just shoot a lot of matches for fun. I struggle with accuracy at speed because of over gripping issues. Brian's explanation of just letting the gun recoil and focus on the gun returning to that position seems to be working more in my favor then my overdripping. He mentions holding it like a hammer. Among other things I've been trying to relax, release tension in the upper back and shoulders, and bring the gun up to my eye line rather than turtle shell, i.e. round the shoulders. I just shot a few matches on vacation and had some of the best steel challenge runs I've ever shot. The USPSA match was only a few stages but my Alphas were way up.
  22. Yep. It wouldn't work with the 6" brake/extension and handguard I mentioned to get it over 16".
  23. I have tried all three style of shadow one safeties; the extended, the SP01 and the flats. I currently have the SP01 (mediums) on all my comp guns. My strong thumb does like to rest on top of it. I did add Dsperman extra power safety springs to make sure I don't engage the safeties with my weak hand during recoil or switching to weak hand only grip. If you guys are looking to replace your current safeties make sure you know what style you have, either D-Style or Tumbler. They have different sear cages, and detents. If you look at your right side safety and see the "D" looking post that attaches to the right side safety then you have D style. Example:
  24. Yep you got it now. Although not necessary, I've seen some shooters flip on the safety on the second pull of the bolt while they are flagging. On the next stage, I like to dry fire at the start of making ready so I don't do this.
