Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I practice DA when I dry fire. During a match I'm only thinking about targets and sight picture. My trigger finger just kind of does its thing on its own.
  2. Which one would you recommend for someone looking to try USPSA for a moderate cost and why? The gun also might double as a home defense gun. Thanks for your thoughts.
  3. Without getting into too much detail, those of us with 10 round magazines would be at a disadvantage. That is why we are switching to Limited 10.
  4. In New Jersey with the 10 round magazine limit a lot of guys that were shooting Production actually switched to Limited 10. I'll be switching to Limited 10 starting in April. Ironically, in New Jersey, changing the maximum rounds per magazine for Production actually decreased participation.
  5. Thank you to everyone for the clarification. After pulling the trigger on an empty chamber, I'll just pull the bolt back, put the flag in, and leave the hammer cocked. I'm not worried about the hammer being cocked.
  6. I'm thinking about trying PCC. I understand unload and show clear for a PCC. Then hammer down and flag. The thing is, when I pull the bolt back to put the flag in it cocks the hammer. Is it acceptable to have the flag in with a cocked hammer? I tried many different ways to put the flag in and every time the hammer ends up cocked.
  7. Right now the Precision One is cheaper if you buy it in lots of 500 ($140) versus lots of 1000 ($290). Doesn't make sense, but who am I to argue? Still more expensive than Super Vel for 1000 rounds ($280.00 versus $254.95).
  8. I'm using Precision One 124 grain competition ammo ( 9mm 124gr FMJ (REMANUFACTURED) COMPETITION - Precision ONe Ammunition ). I've shot over 1000 rounds with no malfunctions using an AccuShadow 2 (13 pound mainspring).
  9. I'm not looking to avoid someone but I am looking to avoid being the only participant in Limited-10. I enjoy the challenge of a lo cap magazine, but many of the matches where I shoot only have 1 or 2 people in Limited-10 which isn't really enough to be interesting.
  10. When registering for an USPSA match Practiscore requires that a division be chosen. Is it possible to change the division I'll be shooting in at the registration table the day of the match?
  11. I'll shoot Production 15 in Pennsylvania. New Jersey has a 10 round magazine limit, so I'll either shoot Production (10) or Limited 10. I'm still trying to decide.
  12. I shot the gun with the Lok Brass grips yesterday. They helped a little bit when shooting with both hands but helped a lot when shooting strong hand or weak hand. I believe this is because the gun is more balanced with the brass grips. The texture was grippy but did not damage my hands at all. Overall I'm very happy with the Lok Brass grips.
  13. While thousands of shooters have used Shadows with extended firing pins without anything bad happening, I replaced my extended firing pin with the stock firing pin after the RO was killed when the Shadow 2 with extended firing pin was dropped, went off, and killed him. Even a 1 in a million chance is too high for me. YMMV.
  14. USPSA Production division requires the hammer to be down at the start of the stage. Cocked and locked or half cocked is not an option. I replaced my extended firing pin with a stock firing pin to make the gun drop safe. I've never had a malfunction using the stock firing pin, so there is no disadvantage to using it.
  15. My Accushadow 2 manual specifically states do not apply the safety when the hammer is down even though it may be possible. Pulling the trigger with the hammer down and the safety engaged could damage the trigger mechanism.
