  1. Thanks for the response. Always nice to get first hand experience.
  2. I have my Aliexpress Solomon's for three months now and wear them for shooting and occasions daily wear. So far one of the strings broke and ordered a replacement pair from REI. The ones that came with the shoes are different. They are larger diameter and appear to be a different material than the Kevlar replacements from REI. The rest of the shoe seems to be of good quality and waterproof. The only bad thing I noticed is that the molded in cleats wear out quickly. Don't know if that is the case with the ones purchased sate side. Still I am satisfied since they only cost me $35 delivered.
  3. I have been shooting mostly Limited along with Limited 10 and production. Now I have the single stack disease and need an opinion. And from past experience there should be no shortage of opinions in this area. I have investigated all the more popular choices in .45 ACP (STI, Dan Wesson, Les Baer ........). Today I ran across D&L Sports. According to the web site the owner / gunsmith Dave Lauck has extensive experience in building innovative 1911's. It seems he places a premium on reliability while maintaining Flexibility in building however you want built. Does anyone have any experience purchasing and owning one of Dave guns? It seems he offers a quality build with many extras for the same or slightly more money than most builders. Also, his web site does not mention what slides and frames he uses. I can't imagine he machines them From solid stock for the money he charges.
  4. I installed a JP EZ Trigger in my frankengun and am impressed. 3.5# break and have mine set for .050 reset. I'm sure the any of the triggers mentioned above will work out great. I wanted a single stage short take up and reset and it fit the requirement.

    Clowns

Stories like these are why I started taking my range bag into restaurants and stores with me after matches. Sorry this happened to you.
  6. Friend just had his screen replaced on his Motorola phone. Cost him $100. Just picked up a Life Proof brand case for my iPhone 5. It's water proof to 3 feet and can take a 3 foot drop on concrete. They run $75 but well worth it.
  7. They work great. Only thing to watch for is that a few pieces might still nest in the next larger caliber case. Very happy I made the purchase.
  8. I'm not an eye doc. But at 54 years old and have been wearing glasses for 22 years, my old eyes have been giving me the same problems. For me it seems to be stress that influences how my corrected vision focuses on the front and rear sight. My sister inlaw is an optometrist and told me to expect more of the same as I get older. I have been considering LASIK to correct my nearsightedness but there Is no guarantee that the front sight will be in sharp focus.

    My new son

Congrats, children are the greatest gift.
  10. I just found out by a post on another forum that the new sanctions against Russia signed by the president on Wednesday includes a ban on imports from Russia of AK-47 rifles, parts and Saiga shotguns and parts.
  11. +1 on the Bob Cad. Use Mastercam now but started with Bob Cad. Great value.
  12. Or an hour later it will blitzkrieg right through your digestive tract.
  13. Looks very nice. Can't wait to get mine.
  14. Has anyone tested the Gas Hog? I know it just started delivery, just wondering if anyone has one on their AR and has something to report.
  15. It's hard trying to motivate people to pitch in. My idea may have been tried but I think a raffle based on working stage setup might work. A day and time are set and workers need to arrive within 15 minutes of setup time. They sign in and after setup is complete they are given a raffle ticket to sign and it is put into a lock box. The names of people who worked are posted to keep everyone honest. At the end of the season or year names are drawn and prizes are awarded. Prizes should be substantial enough to generate participation. Guns, optics, and associated components can be offered. To pay for the prizes, charge an extra dollar or two and offer advertising to local gun shops and sporting goods stores in exchange for prize donations. As an added incentive workers shoot for free.
  16. Thanks for all the info and offers of help. I will be looking at making my travel plans to coincide with matches. Maybe I will see you there.
  17. Welcome Traveler. Are there any level three matches in Germany that you can recommend? I have relatives in the Munich area and might schedule my visits around a match.
  18. Install a flood coolant system. Spray mist will quickly fill your shop with chemical mist and will eventually make a sticky mess of everything in the shop. You also do not want to breath all that stuff. Do keep the spray mist system and run it with air only when you need to blow away chips from the cutting area. 4200 rpm is plenty for the work you will be doing. High speed spindles have an advantage in production work when time savings take precedence or when three axis milling complex contours. Get the Kurt 688. You will eventually need the wider jaw opening. Make several sets of soft steel and aluminum jaws. They can be machined to hold unusual shapes or round parts and can be cut into if needed while machining your parts. As for the swivel base I'm on the fence. Can be useful but with CNC programming the needed angles are easy in most cases. Put the money into good quality carbide tooling for now.
  19. Spent 33 years in the machining business and also ended up twice in the ER with metal chips that snuck in from the side but I cannot begin to count the number of times safety glasses saved my vision. I recall stopping by an employee who was precision grinding multiple parts on a surface grinder. He set up the auto cycle and started it without turning on the magnetic chuck. The result was the 24" diameter x 2" wide grinding wheel spinning 3600 rpm exploding and pelting us with shrapnel. We both had multiple bleeders but what shook me the most was the large gouge in the left lens. The chunk of aluminum oxide grinding wheel hit my glasses with such force that the frame impact on my eyebrow it split open and needed stitches.
  20. I thought it had a life time warranty like their presses. I will be checking things out myself first. Thanks.
  21. I feel your pain. I don't get a chance to shoot many classifier's but when I do I always manage to mess them up. Some people have jokingly accused me of sandbagging.
  22. My RF100 quit working suddenly today. It just finished loading one tube then when I started the next fill it just hummed and the primers stayed still. I played with the rheostat and nothing changed. The unit is about 4 years. Called Dillon for help and was told I had to mail the whole unit to them for repair. Before I spend money on shipping has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it themselves?
  23. Stainless steel is .312 pounds per cubic inch and steel is about .283 pounds per. Hard chrome is harder than prehard 416 stainless. The chrome will wear off eventually in the slide contact areas but most steel guns are 4140 prehard and should not be any different than a stainless gun. Hard chrome will run about $200 to $300 dollars extra.
