This question may be tricky if you are a newer shooter because the weight loss over several months usually parallels improvements from starting USPSA competition. My situation is that after shooting two and half years and making slower improvements I am looking at a major weight loss to give my performance a boost. I'm talking 60 pounds. I am 5'10", 235 pounds and 54 yo and I would like to get down to 170-175 pounds. I know that at my height it sounds like I should go lower but at my best in my early twenties I was 168 pounds and running, biking and weight training 6 days a week. So has anyone had a similar weight loss and have a performance gain as a result? Please share your stories as I could use some motivation.

Thanks. On it now.

I have to figure out how to delete cookies on an iPad. Did not change any passwords.

Yes, I have been having the same problem for weeks. In my case I think it has something to do with my iPad settings since it happens on all the forum sites I visit.

SNL, Grams and stock tubes gets me 20 and plenty of room for easy reloads. Watch the length on the SNL bases. I had 2 that would not fit the gage. I had to machine .013 off the bottom which left them thin and easily dented when dropped on rocky ground.

At the Phoenix Rod and Gun club the only weekend USPSA is on the first Saturday of each month. There are four stages with a classifier. There is another USPSA match on the fourth Tuesday. You can preregistration for these matches but sounds like it is too early for your schedule. You can try the steel Match every Thursday you can jump in and self start anytime between 4:15-7:00 pm. Same with Tuesday night steel matches at Rio. I would definetly join Rio Salado. I only get down to Arizona for a few weeks a year so I have not joined any gun clubs there. I think if you are a member at Rio they allow you to set up and practice if you meet the qualifications. Someone here will probably chime in with the facts on that.

Rio salado will take care of all your needs and by far my favorite range but give the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club a try. They have all the shooting disciplines and great weekly matches. First Saturday of each month they have a Uspsa match. When everyone finishes the pistol portion the stages are reset for carbine and reshot. The 200 yard range is set up for the carbine portion also.

I smoke an occasional cigar but donot smoke during competitions so I cannot give a personal account how it would affect my shooting performance. My dad who was in the Korean War used to tell me that cigarettes where given to to them in their ration packs. He said most smoked especially when anticipating a conflict everyone seemed to chain smoking. He said it helped calm the nerves so they could compete missions more competently.

Zoomy replied to ironman5669's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
I use 4.6 N320 with 200 gr Zeros loaded to 1.195. Gives me 850 -860 fps. -

Went down to a construction supply store and saw pallets of .22 fastener blanks in the storage area. Would be nice if these manufacturers can convert some of there production to ammo.

I run a 12 pound in my 5".

Yeah, me too. It seems strange that a company that has made a name for themselves in the reloading business and has " Powder " in their name they seem to be having a very hard time getting supplied with any kind of powder. You would think they would have better resources and connections than the LGS, that seems to be getting resupplied every week. Does anyone have any idea why PV seems to be having such a harder time than LGS's finding powder to sell. I had been buying from them for years but have been finding the powder I need locally and at fair prices.

I have the same air rifle and it's barely good enough for squirrels at 20 yards.

Did you cut off the Crimp on the blank and press the pellet in the case or did you place the pellet in ahead of the blank? It would be interesting to see how some of the heavier pellets perform. My brother has a precharged pneumatic rifle that will dive a 26 grain pellet at 1150fps. The blanks should be able to surpass that. Congratulations on your idea. If this gets out to the ammo manufacturers this might spur them into action. A little competition is good for everyone

As always when experimenting with unproven load start with ligther loads that look almost ridiculous and take any advice with a grain of salt (including my advice). I have developed a load using Zero 200gr JRNFP using N320 for my STI limited 5" barrel. It works out to 4.7gr N320 and OAL of 1.190. From what I have read is that whenever working with heavy bullets and fast powders you need to load longer OAL's To keep pressure levels safe. I did not want to use Clays because the quick burn rate and the pressure spike problems with very small changes in the charge weight and bullet setback. If I had some WSF or N340 I probably would have used those powders. I am happy with my N320 load and will probably switch to WSF when I find some. I am open to any criticisms or corrections to my observations. Always willing to learn.

I knew there was a communist plot in all of this.

Sorry, but that's your fault for using a case feeder. REAL men feed the cases by hand and visually inspect each one as they go. In the snow. 5 miles. Uphill. Both ways. Well I'll show you what a "REAL" man reloads with. No more Dillon 650. From now on I will do all my reloading on a single stage press and prime with a hand primer.?

My afternoon loading session just got interesting. A .38 S&W jammed up at the bottom of my case feed tube. Is there no end to the madness. I have the case separator pan set and I just ordered the aluminum insert to separate out the 380 cases.

Please stop. Your giving me an anxiety attack.

At area 2 they checked one mag from everyone. The day before shooting started they allowed people to have a trial chrono and mag check.
