  1. I can't speak for 38super or 40's. But I've never had a failure to extract or high quality extractor give me problems. So IMHO it is a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Now I've seen glocks and various 9mm that get a case stuck and extractors won't get them out, but they were all cause by carbon rings in the chamber. So maybe the high pressure rounds add to problem. In fact I've never even had to retension a 45 extractor. I have had problems on various guns getting extractors fitted properly, too long, too loose so they rotate, striking barrel, hole in slide not in right place, not hooking on rim correctly due to head space problems, but once fitted and deburred they just run and run. Now I fit mine a little different then I've seen instruction for. Most say bend on hook side of nub to get right tension. I bend mine near the firing pin block, then fit the nub in middle if the extractor isn't in the right position in relation to the breach face. I have no arch between nub and hook. That way mine is sprung from rear and it movement is limited by nub in middle. I hope that's clear. As far as tension goes, I just set them so a loaded round won't fall out when I tap the slide on the table. I'll be curious to see what other people experiences are?

    She had to be blond!
  3. Go to a major match usually a supplier will be there. Then you don't have to pay shipping. Also if they are from out of state and you prepay you don't have to pay sales tax that way. Really only worth it if your buying a bunch like for club for a whole year.
  4. I finished watching it last night. It was entertaining. I like the way the door on room 10 opened by itself after he through the key in. I guess we might see more. It sure lends itself to go on and on. It left most of all the questions unanswered.
  5. After a shooting session, I use a m16 style stiff brush and clean chamber ramp extractor face area. Quick dry brush of barrel. Wipe outside with any oil/protector stuff and put away. When they malfunction tear it down use hot water and simple green, JB the bore, hair dry, oil/grease put away. Different guns and different ammo's affects how long between tear downs. I know its lazy to wait for a malfunction but these are gaming guns. My carry gun is different story, clean, shoot a few rounds, wipe then back in the fanny pack. Change ammo twice a year.
  6. Let us know if you get a new barrel!!
  7. IMHO a adjustable gas block won't help the timing problem. What will help is a carrier weight. It is cheap and easy to remove.
  8. I was early adopter of Norgon, bought my first one direct from them, before Brownells got it. Works great on all my 15's. However on my 308 it required tweaking. The bolt on Armalite 308 is longer than on 15's. Plus the spring was little lite so occasionally it would drop a full 308 mag. So I put one of those inserts from 15 extractor in it to increase the pressure and has worked fine ever since. For short bolt I just didn't screw the release button on all the way. I think two turns from flush did the trick. Great product the only thing better is the KAC lower with built-in lefty release.
  9. On MP I inspected it has too large of chamber. The round is slipping by the headspace shoulder. With Wolf and steel case it is worse. The round won't fire and won't eject. The chamber is huge even compared to the Glock. Send it back and ask for a new barrel.
  10. The shuttle is great vehicle. But like all goverment projects. The estimated cost and actually were only off by 1000%. But you know how those cost plus projects go can get away from ya. Did any foam fall off this time???? Kinda like the hubble, Kodak was going to build the mirror, plus provide a spare. We went with unknown company because bid was 500K cheaper and in some senators home town. By time it got built it was 1000% over budget, never was tested was ground wrong and we had to field a second mission to put corrective lenses on it.
  11. I like to put the rod in a vise held by some inner tube or leather. Then tighten it. Firm but not straining. The little wrench they sell do the same thing for ya. I'm a loctite fan, but decided not to in this area. Mainly because of amount of times I'll probably take it apart.
  12. Got two in that went right out the door. Fit and finish was good. One went straight to range and function all afternoon without any problems. Trigger pull was good for out of box gun.
  13. Yes I talked with him last Friday. Still snowed under, and suppliers are running 2/3 weeks behind.
  14. As a dealer I'm glad a lot of people are constantly buying new guns and selling old ones. Reminds me of old girlfriend that had every closet in my house full of her cloths. Yet every week she came home with something new, now they were all bargains, on sale, second hand shop, traded etc. And yes she looked wonderful in all of them, she was a ballerina. She change her outfit at least four times everyday, spent evenings coordinating outfits to go with her mood, weather, cycles of moon. However when ever she asked me what I wanted her to dress in to go out I had two choices, tight jeans with worn out butt and sweater, or the little black dress. Both were like unwrapping new Xmas presents to me. So as you can imagine I've got same pistol I started with and just keep rebuilding it. I still get excited when I shoot a clean match and beat guys with those fancy guns. I'll keep selling them those fancy guns, cause ain't America Great!!!! IMHO
  15. IT is a PC shop 625, They will make up a special order for Large Distributors. Lew Horton comes to mind.
  16. yep they are same, and they used to brand called Kings that was same also.
  17. How about this scenario. Failure to fire, request the shooters magazine, insert a dud round in a random place. That way you will have to reload or least clear the dud. Good practice.
  18. youth stocks are 1.5" shorter and about $46.00. Choate makes a pistol grip adjustable.
  19. If you ask him too he will include a DA sear spring and pins. Interesting thing was that his sear is longer than the replacements I get from Brownells. Also the sear is kicked out further than any factory sear and angle on sear tip is greater than factory sear. Thus his hammer contacted the trigger nose flat further in, and road the flat area more than any factory trigger I've seen. I've tried too duplicate this on factory hammers with new sears, and they were all too short. "Uh, actually the Randy hammer does not even come with a double-action sear installed. You're talking about a fitting issue, which can be accomplished with either the Randy hammer or a modified factory hammer."
  20. I've worked with three different hammer setups on my 625. Factory, Bobbed, Randy Lee. Trust me the Randy Lee is well beyond what can be done with a grinder. I also believe that Randy made some subtle changes in the DA sear area. Lock time is much better, was able to reduce the rebound and lower the main spring tension, and still lite wolf primers which are fairly hard. I bought S&W DA only hammer for my model 19-5, while nice it still is a massive heavy hammer. Trust me you'll like the Randy HAmmer!!!
  21. Still worded it wrong, The correct method is " what would it take for you to want to have sex". Never make "NO" a possible answer.
  22. ReRead article, One line says they were shot as they approached. Another implys after they kick the door down. " Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said. The officers had a legal warrant, "knocked and announced" before they forced open the door and were justified in shooting once fired upon, he said." "As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb, a police spokesman." So two different stories, coming from the police. Not a good sign
  23. I was just hoping somewhere somebody had access to more data. Because the two sides seem miles apart. Don't police do any covert monitoring of suspected drug sites. Seems like it would be safer for everybody is somebody at least did a watch on the site for awhile. That way you at least know if you had one suspect or 20 when serving the warrant.
  24. ATLANTA (AP) - The niece of a 92-year-old woman shot to death by police said her aunt likely had reason to shoot three narcotics investigators as they stormed her house. Police insisted the officers did everything right before entering the home Tuesday evening, despite suggestions from the woman's neighbors and relatives that it was a case of mistaken identity. The woman, Kathryn Johnston, was the only resident in the house at the time and had lived there for about 17 years, Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said. The officers had a legal warrant, "knocked and announced" before they forced open the door and were justified in shooting once fired upon, he said. Sarah Dozier, the niece, told WAGA-TV that there were never drugs at the house. My aunt was in good health. I'm sure she panicked when they kicked that door down," Dozier said. "There was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog." As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb, a police spokesman. One was hit in the arm, another in a thigh and the third in a shoulder. The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment, and all three were conscious and alert, police said. Rev. Markel Hutchins, a civil rights leader, said Johnston's family deserves an apology. "Of the police brutality cases we've had, this is the most egregious because of the woman's age," Hutchins said. Hutchins said he would try to meet with Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington and would also meet with lawyers. One part says they knocked then kicked down door, the other parts says they were shot as they approached. Wonder which really happen.
