  1. I am consider buying a ar-10/15 chambered in 308, first off I have never had any AR variant and no next to nothing about them except that I want one and that I would like it in 308. Budge wise I'm looking at the DPMS guns and I've played with all the 308's that DPMS makes I find the Recon ($1400) to be just about prefect but want a 20" thick barrel instead of the 16". But at the same time I can get the Oracle for $800. Now how hard is it to change from a "16in thin barrel to a 20" thick. If it's a drop in thing the Oracle would be setup great for 1050 saving me 350 bucks. Is there something else I'm missing that what add expense to changing from a 16" thin to a 20" thick barrel. Not using this for competing just some long range shooting/hunting.
  2. Tumble lube bullets can be problematic. I have not tired it with any other powder tho I really only want to go with a faster powder not slower. I could also ways try it at say 775fps with aa2,unique,and power pistol and see if there's any problems. Works fine at 3.2gr at 30ft need to get out at 25yrds and see how it does. I was running a 170gr normal lube groove swc with 2.8grs of aa2 and accuracy was great but at 2.8 and this bullet it tumbles. Only down side to the 170 sec is its a 2 cavity mold instead of a 6 and the throat on my shadow is to short compared to my 75b.
  3. I have been working on a load for my shadow lately that produces some really low recoil but I think I can do better. Running a Lee 158gr RN that drops at 162grs. 3.2grs of aa#2 1.15 OAL 135pf I think. I would like to get a throat reamer and see if I can load this out to 1.130 to 1.145 and put about 2.4grs of n310 under it. But because of the really low speed I'd probably also have to have the Lee tumble lube grooves all removed for any chance of the bullet stabizing.
  4. Since there a lead bullet what's the bullet diameter vs the bore diameter?
  5. I second that. If the bore is clean and there tumbling it's probably diameter.
  6. Well of my Glock 17 and my CZ75b the glock had more failures. I have yet to have any failures with my shadow but I'm sure sooner or later every gun does.
  7. Hmmm good to know, I now powder coat all my cast bullets and I'm guessing that would take care of the problem as there is no exposed lead its almost like a plastic jacket.
  8. I've pushed softer 9mm lead to 1700fps with out any leading in a carbine but don't have a gun with a comp. Why would the comp get lead on it? The bullet doesn't actually touch the comp does it?
  9. How's your brass eject? You can reprofile the ejector for a more 90 degree ejection.
  10. Can't help ya with a recipe but Underwood's +p+ 147gr bullets are pushing a 169pf so 150 shouldn't be hard to get.if you don't mind the flashbang power pistol will get u there.
  11. Hi tek should work but you would probably be better severed by a powder coated bullet as the coating is thicker and stronger. I've done both and both work fine but all my hot carbine loads are always powder coated. On the other hand I've never had any problems with hi tek shooting minor.
  12. I'd shoot kneelingatlas a pm he also lives there and I have a felling if anyone would know where to find some in that commie state he would.
  13. N310 is the softest and cleanest I can think of as long as you can find it.
  14. Ya I know But just incase you want to reach out and touch something with a 9mm. I'll go faster when I figure out how....
  15. 8.5gr of Power Pistol 1.169 OAL will give you about 1715fps with a 125gr bullet or atleast it does out of my 16in, there a little on the hot side tho so use at your own risk.
  16. That's a good point but I do a lot of traveling for work so I'm sure it will turn up someday. My older version of quickload has n310 at quite a higher pressure than what nitro 100 would make the same PF
  17. Lol ya I know I'm behind the update CD is only like 20 bucks I mailed them the other day to see if Autocomp came on the new version and it does not.
  18. I think mine is 3.2 so anything newer might be a little better. I'm working on load development for a 162gr lead bullet in 9mm. Looking for a 135 power factor but I would like to use the fastest powder I can without blowing up. Bullet length is .702 and OAL is 1.120 so for anyone that is bored I'd like to see what a newer version of QL comes up with. The version I'm using says nitro 100 would be prefect but that's the old formula, I think its time I update just so I have more powders.
  19. Just wondering if the new formula is different than the old and how much it changed anyone's loads?
  20. I do a lot of heavy bullets in 9mm looking for the softest recoiling load. I have 4 different bullets about 160gr right now I'm playing with. I would suggest a really fast powder. Depends on your bullet length and COAL but if you can make Nitro 100/N310 work that would be a great one/s to test. If it doesn't seem like any less recoil with that it's not going to.
  21. Not that bullet but loading 160gr over 3.2gr of AA2 at 1.130 is about 135pf.
  22. It will move the break point forward a little but you probably won't be able to tell were talking about such a small amount.
  23. Sounds like a disconnector timing issue. Removing metal from the bottom of the wings will advance the DA.
  24. The whole flat portion is how I do it. I use a diamond file to remove it just till it clears and resets than I clean it up with sand paper.
  25. xdrc any idea what the difference between your bore size and the bullets are?
