  1. There was a guy over on a another form asking about how long a cz 75 would last and that got me thinking of you guys. What's the most rounds you have put through one CZ without any massive failures like a cracked frame or slide. If the barrel needed replace around what rounds count?
  2. length is what you want, the longer pin pushes on the bottom of the sear cage right where it slips under the frame so if fit tightly enough you have pressure from top and bottom. I find the pin method to be the best one for the amount of work, nothing beats welding/brazing the cage and fitting it but it's not as pretty or easy as the pin method.

    New 75 Shadow

David's the man so if he said stake it that's what I would do. I can tell you I've ran a cz 75b with both pins free floating and never had any problems with it walking out after assembly, probably only had 5k rounds on the pins tho.

    New 75 Shadow

A loose pin is fine that's how cgw sells his disco and strut pin. Once installed it can't go anywhere.
  5. Ya I think there is a little technique to dropping the slide by inserting the mag. I find that if your palm hits the frame by the main spring plug it takes a lot less force than just inserting the mag. I just got a New CZ 75 shadow the other day and the slide stop is nice and tight but I can still drop the slide by putting the mag in without much force.
  6. Ya that's why I was thinking only 2 inches or less. You don't gain length really but you could add a base pad and get a diamond file in there pretty easy. I also have some 56% silver brazing rod that I've used on other gun project which would be easy to keep anything from getting on the inside of the mag but I don't know if it would have enough strength I also wonder if there is a way to crimp springs together. If the silver works and you could crimp springs without losing space or find better springs a 50rd mag might not have to be a mile long. Tho pointless since FA new productions aren't allowed.
  7. good to know, I didn't notice that the CZC +4 was about 40 buck think I'll stick with a mec gar plus two. Well if I can't bend or add metal to the mag to get it to accept the +2 base I'm sure some guys on here have some mec gar or CZ mags that are ruined and I could always cut the last 1 or 2 inches off the mag and weld it on to the pro mag.
  8. Ya I was thinking a flat follower and maybe a +4 base pad as from the pictures I've seen the pro mag looks close to a flush fit base.
  9. Just wondering what the biggest CZ mag was that someone has created. Not that you could use it in any sports I was just looking at the 32 pro mag and thinking hmmm I bet I could get 40 to fit with the right pad and follower. So anyone else make some big mags?
  10. All my CZ's have always dropped the slide when the mag is ran home.
  11. I don't think there is a to light DA only SA. I mostly run a 13lb main spring as I rather have a better SA than DA but I think if they were both around 3 lbs give or take that would be ideal. Something like a 2.5 SA and a 4 DA sounds great
  12. I think the DA at that weight is great but you give up the crisp SA, can't have the best of both worlds.
  13. Are we talking about the same action? If so you must tell me your secerts for a Sub 2lb DA
  14. Very good walk through. I've been wanting to see if I could get the double action below 3lbs but haven't had the time to try it yet lowest I've got DA so far was mid 3's with a 8.5lb hammer spring.
  15. Indeed the finish is very poor. I have 100 rds through mine and the front of the slide is wore already. Gonna have the get it refinished later down the road with a better finish.
  16. Thanks for the info guys I figured it will take some fitting just didn't want bullets nose diving into the ramp.
  17. What's going on with the TS feed ramp. Was planning on using it on a shadow but the feed ramp looks like it could be a problem.
  18. Hmm no idea I would call Cz USA and see what the specs at on it.
  19. Jetpow Ya czc threaded barrels are crazy pricey but I think it's more to do with the fitting/accuracy and the threads are just a plus. You could always order a 6in barrel for the 75 guns or a TS barrel for the sp-01/shadows and cut it down and thread either of them much cheaper.
  20. Jp221 your correct you just have to remove the pin enough to get the old spring out and install the new one. A pair of needle nose will help to force the spring into place as you tap the pin back in.
  21. I had a 75b that I worked extractor and ex power spring so that it would always feed but had the ultimate extraction power. Upside it always worked, downside is it would chew the rim off a case if you keep rechambering it. Tho it would extract the worst looking cases that only had half the rim left and so on.
  22. The biggest thing I didn't like about the setup above is the height of the red dot above the bore that's why I think milling the slide will be the wag to go for me just to get things lower. That and my Cz 75 shadow and a sp-01 could share the same threaded barrel.
  23. I sold my open project gun with the idea of building it on the sp-01 platform but I have two other project guns in front of that right now. I see there are people running c mores and other above slide optics, I've been plaining on milling the life and having a slide ride. Is there some advantage if having a above slide optic that Im missing or does it not make any difference?
  24. Could you run 15% EX power springs in the 18rd mags? I've ran 10% in the 16rd's with great success. If so might help if your thumbs are touching the release if the spring can over come it.
  25. tagged. I'm sure this is going to be fun watching and probably give me some ideas.
