  1. With the LPA cut you could use a fixed TS rear (.120"). I was a LPA fan before my TS, but then I fell in love. It also makes a great slide racker.
  2. It's not so bad Sarge, I threaded my barrel for a comp in my garage.
  3. As soon as my C-more comes in I plan to drill and tap the frame on my Tactical Sport. I also plan to adapt a thumb rest, so I'll have to let you know. Do you have access to a drill press? I don't know if I have the stones to try it without a DP and a milling vise.
  4. Why hate them Sperman, you should love them! The guys stocking up at today's prices will be the same guys selling all their gear to you at a loss when the rent comes due.
  5. There have been many debates here regarding clipping coils and its effect on spring rate, but its effect on the compressed length is clear. The compressed length determines the length of stroke and whether the impulse of the slide is absorbed directly by the frame or by the barrel lug/slide stop. I haven't had much success clipping coils, I would do it however if I ran a recoil buffer again.
  6. If these questions are pointed at me: It's not the call which is bad, if it was I wouldn't know the shot was bad; I know a bad shot when I shoot it because the call is good. I wouldn't know about shooting make up shots as I have yet to shoot one in my short, five month USPSA career. This calling shots then reshooting bad shots seems like more thinking than I've been doing; do good shooters think while they're shooting, or let their training take over? It seems I've hyjacked this thread. moonshoxx, are these questions valuable to you? if not, I'll take them elsewhere.
  7. I shot at a relaxed pace and tried to call all my shots today; I could definitely call those more than 2-3" off at ten yards; is bullseye shooting a useful way to practice calling shots, or should it be faster? Juan, if I understand your advice, you say rip off another shot automatically when I know I've shot a bad one?
  8. I HATE Kentucky windage! I used to be nuts about putting adjustable sights on everything, but this CZ has taught me to love fixed sights. It's a real pain to get them zeroed in, but once you do, the confidence you build by not chasing your groups around is great. Here's a shot of my CZ Open project:
  9. YES! People who want to bitch and moan about high prices need to look in the mirror.
  10. With the rubber base it's longer than 170mm isn't it?
  11. Kickstand was probably the wrong word, I use the rear sight to rack the slide, but my gun does sit flat on the table for now. I've put together an Open upper for it, so once I drill and tap the frame for the C-more, I'll start using a thumb rest in Limited which should prop it up (hopefully it's far enough back).
  12. So basically buy a 40. Thank you for all for you input.
  13. Are there any problems inherent in swapping a .40 barrel into a .45 1911? Switch to a .40 extractor? Thanks
  14. I like to use the kickstand rear sight on my TS for a racker:
  15. I'm digging all this advice, my thanks to the experienced shooters. The general approach I've taken has been to focus on the hits and not the time, but I must admit I've yet to notice a target without two As and reshot it. It's like my mind goes blank and I just shoot (I don't know if this is a good or bad thing?), I'm getting mostly As, but I know I'm not calling my shots. Can someone explain what that means? Is it just knowing the shots were good, or having a picture in your head of where the holes are? Does your focus jump from the sights to the target after the shot?
  16. The immortal first words of any argument! Second only to "with all due respect..."
  17. I just got my .40 slide back from Rich of Canyon Creek Custom. I asked him to cut some weight with unique cuts inspired by Henning's Limited; this is what he sent back: The weight reduced was by 1.8 ounces and it's noticeably snappier; I still need to play around with the spring weights, but I like it.
  18. That makes sense, after I wrote the post, I was wondering about the barrel OD. I used an SP01 slide and a TS barrel (.550" OD) with a small frame Tanfoglio comp:
  19. So did you just use a 9mm TS barrel and a Lone Wolf Glock 9mm comp? Do you know what the thread pitch is?
  20. Very cool DanO! Be sure to let us know how it shoots. How many rounds do you get in that big stick? 26?
  21. I didn't see her eyes, I better watch it again...
  22. My slide just came back from fat camp at Canyon Creek; I can't wait to shoot it!
  23. Sure you can shoot Limited Minor with a 9mm; 40 is the minimum caliber for Major in Limited, but it's 38 for Minor.
  24. I can attest to the rear sight, I used a 16oz ball peen hammer and a brass punch (had to beat the hell out of it). I've never done the extractor, but I know it only comes out in one direction, although I don't know which one.
