  1. Awesome! I wish I had started shooting USPSA five years ago so my wife could shoot too, but now she's stuck watching the kids while I play.
  2. Hesitant is an understatement! All I wanted was a long slide guide rod and they gave me all kinds of static until I finally searched Google images, found a Limited with the serial number showing and used that one.
  3. Do you mean like this: The notch in the back of the slide must be widened to use the TS hammer.
  4. But I'm not just talking about the sights, I used to compete with a pistol that looked like this: and I learned how to remove material from this area, add it to that, and change the way it pointed for me. I too would use the "close your eyes and engage the target" method, but if the pistol was pointed to the left I wouldn't move my hand, I would shave wood from the wrap and move the gun. I'm new to USPSA, so I'm not sure if all the principles I learned in my Olympic days translate, but I hear more people talking about "training your grip" to fit the gun than training the gun to fit your grip? When I do this exercise with my Limited gun, I always open my eyes to find the front sight a little high, so I'm getting ready to break out the files and undercut the trigger guard until it comes down into alignment. I know I'm taking what could be an expensive gamble, but hey, that's me.
  5. Why not adjust the equipment to point better with your grip?
  6. Forget the website Dan; you've got to call.
  7. I use a small piece of masking tape which only blocks my left eye when I lower my head to shoot. It seems to be working well although the targets are pretty close in the local matches so I find myself mostly point shooting.
  8. I guess a 10mm barrel and .45 slide could work, but the .40 is perfect.
  9. The long slide I had was a 4.75" barrel, the Hunter is a 6" right? wouldn't that be a super, dooper long slide?!?
  10. I started in Limited because my CZ Tactical Sport is really bad ass, I shoot Limited 10 because the local club's stages are short, so I want to learn how to reload. My plan is to shoot L10 until I stop seeing improvement, then jump into something fresh to keep from getting stuck in the mud. Just last night, I was looking in my safe and said "when the hell am I going to shoot these guns?" So I listed a bunch for sale to make room for an Open gun, already have Production and Revolver, but maybe, just maybe, I'll get a single stack...
  11. I just got a visual of a fumbled mag dropping into the crapper!!!
  12. I use Olympic Rapid Fire targets with the colors inverted: They make my black sights stand out and have a nice contrasting line through the middle.
  13. I swapped sears between my Jericho and Tanfoglio TA90; the big thing is that both guns were slide mounted decocker safety models; I'm pretty sure a frame safety sear would not work.
  14. I've used Tanfoglio and CZ hammers in my Jericho, but brand mixing is a no go in Production. I have a spare set of internals for mine so I plan to mill out the inside of one of them to try. I'm actually not sure if that's legal in Production; if anyone knows for sure, please chime in.

    9mm Major?

I don't think it's a question of WILL this gun or that gun handle major loads, but a question of how long factory components not specifically designed for major loads will last, and which part is your weakest link. In CZs depending on the length of the fully compressed recoil spring the weakest link is usually the slide stop (which is why my TS came with three extras). Though the TS and the Czechmate are both beefed up in the slide/frame, I think the standard slide/frame should hold up pretty well. Unfortunately CZ slides are not easy to come by.
  16. No, you need and extended magazine release for a small frame Tanfoglio, contact Henning: henningshootsguns.com. The BE uses a trigger plunger like a Tanfo and the integral part of the mag catch is the bottom of that plunger.
  17. On the subject of used car dealers, I chisel those bastards out of principle! Let me tell you a story about this Hyundai station wagon I bought once: Friday night after a wedding my buddy and I are like "f*#k it! let's go to Vegas man!!!" so we take off. Four hours of gridlocked traffic later, I'm in the middle of the desert, falling asleep at the wheel so I decide to jump into the exit lane and get some shut eye. Driving down the exit ramp, suddenly the car in front of me swerves out of the lane to miss the STOPPED CAR in front of him! I lock up the brakes and ALMOST stop in time; SMASH!!! the guy I hit's bumper was just high enough to jam my radiator into my engine block... Totaled that f*#ker! So Sunday morning my ass still hurts from my five hour, $1,800, tow truck drive and I've got to get to work on Monday, so I start surfing the classifieds for a used car. Two look promising: one 45 minutes north and one 30 minutes south; it's getting late, only time to look at one. f*#k it, I drive to the part of town with all the used car lots. At the Toyota dealership I spot this Hyundai, what a beater 115K, sideswiped fender and door, PERFECT! (I was really mad at myself, so I needed to be punished with this pussy wagon for a while) The had $13,999 crossed out and $13,500 written below it; WHAT THE f*#k?!? In tiny little print at the bottom of the sticker, written in black print on a blue background it read "Kelly Blue Book Suggested Retail Value: $5,600". SO I take it for a spin, drives good and I tell the guy "let's talk"... Long story short (too late right?) I drove out of there with my new station wagon for $4,000 cash out the door and a job offer! When my dad and sister came to pick up my sister's car the manager of the lot told him "we've NEVER been beat up like that before AND he had us rolling on the floor the whole time!". I turned down the job and told them I couldn't bear to make my living selling people $4,000 cars for $15K.
  18. I've got another one for you: I sold a revolver to a guy who wanted it so bad he drove two hours each way (twice!) to get it, then what does the dumb f*#ker do? shows up with NO CASH!?! He had never done this before and though he could use his credit card and the gun store would give me the money. Mind you I find this out AFTER he takes his handgun safety test, fills out the transfer paperwork and his DROS is started! Then I've got to ride with him to the bank so he can pull out the money he owes me. Three hours this ate out of the middle of my day!
  19. Absolutely, they created that game not me. I went to their place of business, they didn't have to drive the car out to pick me up, the salesman didn't leave work early to meet me, he's at work.
  20. I'm not so much an "ends justify the means" kind of guy; my integrity means more to me than chiseling someone for a few bucks.
