  1. Email or PM Stuart, he's all over it.
  2. Cordy, The style of cuts is mostly cosmetic, the area of the slide which houses the guide rod is very thick and they can take weight from there too. I guess the question to ask is how much snappier do you want it to be? Rich at Canyon Creek said 1.8 oz came out of my slide and that amount changed the character of the recoil A LOT! To me it was almost like the difference between the my TS .40 and my 75B in .40: much snappier. Honestly, my first time out with it I though to myself "what did I do to my gun?!?" The slide racker I added put about an ounce back on, so it's snappier than stock, not as snappy as it was; I realize I will most likely feel more comfortable with a snappier gun once my grip strengh and technique improve. Maybe I'll shorten the racker or take it off altogether. I guess what I'm saying is lighter is not always better, but definetly a change for sure.
  3. Slapped it on and shot beautifully! It's an interesting phenomenon: I have a few small frame Tanfo 9mm barrels and slides I mixed and matched and now the resulting guns shoot better than any of them did to begin with (although I did end up with a compensated compact upper which groups like crap, but I'm workin' on it...).
  4. I bought the conversion directly from EAA. Yea, the two-tone look really grew on me!
  5. If anyone has those crappy, glossy black small frame mags, I'd be happy to take them off your hands.
  6. http://www.gunspring...ID=1&mID=19#844 Under the section for long slide. I did the same thing to my 45/22: sold the .45 kit, sold the .22 kit and bought a 10mm long slide conversion in Wonderfinish: It was converted to SAO using the hammer and trigger from a CZ 75 Tactical Sport, it turned out to be a great shooter!
  7. Looks good Twister, although I had my hopes up to see an Open conversion.
  8. Hog hunter, once you try competition, punching holes in paper at the range just won't feel the same. No one says you have to pick just one CZ; are you a tinkerer? If so it might be fun to pick up a used 75b, do your own trigger job, shoot some IDPA and fall in love. I'll warn you, if you start with the TS, nothing else will do. Out of the box it has a sub 2# match trigger and it only gets better from there.
  9. I've seen a good deal on a used 9mm, I'll try to find it for you.
  10. If you're not concerned with making major power factor, pick up a TS in 9mm; you'll be the hero at your range.
  11. Mark, here's what you do: Google Images search until you find a EAA Witness Hunter with a clear serial number, call EAA, give them the number and tell them you want a 6" barrel and guide rod, they may not have the barrel in stock but it's you best bet. If you want parts, but don't have a serial number to match they give you all kinds of static.
  12. I asked George Huening about roller lifters and he told me the production costs are just too high. I don't know about Henning.
  13. If an AWB went down like it did in CA, you would have a grace period in which to register your homemade AR, if you did it would have to be destroyed at your death; if you didn't, anyone in possession of it would be guilty of a felony regardless of who owns it. You can own the property in trust, but that has nothing to do with the legal registration.
  14. Some machine shops host "build parties" where they have a CNC machine all set up, you buy an 80% lower and just 'push the button' to finish it off. Last I saw it was around $300 for a stripped lower (more if you want custom engraving on it).
  15. First answer is yes, a .40 and a 10mm are the same bullet, just a different case so the same comp works for both but .38 comps are far more common and it's not a big deal to ream it out. If I understand your plan you're talking about something like this?: This is my small frame Tanfoglio 9mm with a compact slide and a standard barrel cut to 4.125" and thread M14X0.75 for the stock Tanfoglio comp I got from Numrich; they have a two-port .40 comp which may or may not be the large frame model you need: http://www.gunpartsc...cts/1291760.htm (just looking at the picture I would guess small frame), they also have a .38 super two-port (http://www.gunpartsc...cts/1291700.htm) which would be large frame and could be reamed for your 10mm. Numrich has a great return policy, so I just bought all their 9mm comps and returned the one's I didn't want. If EAA has a barrel for the Witness Hunter 10mm (6") in stock you should be off to the races, but I'm not sure the two-port is going to make you completely happy (my two port comp works ok with minor pf 9mm). If I were in your position, here's what I would do: -buy a conefit Thundercomp 2 (http://www.1911store...undercomp2.aspx) -ream the exit holes to.4125" ish -turn the end of your current barrel down to .575" (it's 15mm right now, or .591") -thread it .575X40 to match the comp -open up the front of the slide like a Limited to accommodate the cone fit barrel and pull it out the front (need to use Henning's guide rod bushing: http://henningshoots...upperparts.html) You would still be using your stock barrel and slide and would have a kick ass comp; with all the gas that mighty 10mm is blowing, it should run great! Are you looking to shoot USPSA Open Division? or just to tame the recoil and have a cool (and loud!) range toy?
  16. I actually did everything myself except for the cuts (I chickened out since it's next to impossible to get a new slide if you screw up); I made the racker from a 3/8" piece of rod.
  17. Sure you can, I added a slide racker and put about an ounce back on: I was perfectly happy using the rear sight to rack the slide, but I also want to try a thumbrest so I added the racker so the barrel wouldn't tip skyward on table starts (I know, I know, I'm like a teenager with a Honda Civic, but I just love to play with new stuff).
  18. The site is terrible, you should call if you want to order anything.
  19. It's much snappier/faster; you know how a .40 feels compared to a .45, it's kind of like that.
  20. +1 on what Neomet said; I had never shot a pistol with a lightened slide before and it really changed the personality. Rich from Canyon Creek did mine: He said he took 1.8 oz off.
  21. I really like the polished flats!
  22. Can't wait to hear all about it!
