  1. I was shooting Junior Olympic Rapid Fire Pistol as a pre-teen and got burned by brass during a match on more than one occasion; kids are plenty tough as compeditors.
  2. I handled a stock three I guy in my squad was shooting last month. It was pretty nice, like a gloss blued Shadow with a quarter inch of extra barrel. He had done just a quick polish/spring job and the trigger was pretty nice. The DA was heavier than my Shadow, but the SA was lighter.
  3. I hate to be the skeptic here, but what would stop a shooter from claiming contact with hot brass in order to reshoot a tanked stage? When hot brass contacts your skin, you have two options: shake it off or work through it. If you ask me it's a part of this game; this is practical shooting, not optimal conditions shooting.
  4. I guess if you go to a SA trigger, the DA just can't reset so it could just ride along. I always remove them from my SA pistols, the extra part dragging around can't help your trigger pull.
  5. I think it's more an issue of comp vs no comp. No comp - fast powder, heavy bullet shoots soft; comp needs gas volume, so more, slower powder.
  6. First off, Zev should have some recommendations on primers, but I've never heard of Federal SPP in 9 Major, most Open shooters use SRP to handle the pressure; I use CCI SRP. Second, HS6 might be THE powder for 9 Major with a short OAL, so beat the bushes and maybe you can trade for some. Third, stay away from exposed lead for 9 Major: lots of smoke and lead build up in the comp. Besides, you can probably load longest with a 124 CMJ or plated round nose. Last match I shot a batch of Berry's 135 plated round nose loaded to 1.135 with 7.1 grains of HS6. If your chamber can handle them the 135s take less powder so they're not so violent and 'feel' softer.
  7. Yes, if you use a regular base pad or a CZC one.
  8. The 19 round MecGars for the CZ 75 will work in the Mossad.
  9. +1 If you're planning to change things like the trigger, sights and safeties, the Shadow is a bargain because those items are already upgraded, plus the lack of FPB increases the potential of the trigger ever so slightly.
  10. I would hate to hear of people in the gun importing business shooting themselves; the tragic irony might be too much to handle
  11. What about IFG??? That's competition right? They're in such close competition they're in the same building...
  12. I think my 75B is my least favorite of my 75 pattern pistols, it has the shortest beaver tail, the lightest barrel and a slide which tapers at the muzzle, all of which makes it flip and wander more than my SP01 Shadow or my Jericho 941. That being said, I like heavy, steel pistols, if you're coming from the polys, that may not be a turn off for you. Do you do your own trigger work? If so, I would encourage you to look at the clones as well; I've handled an EAA Stock III which was pretty great, although just as hard to get as a Shadow, but I prefer even a standard Witness steel to a 75B. My Jericho (Uzi/Baby Eagle) is every bit as good as my Shadow and I just handled my new TriStar T120 which seems to have a lot of potential. The CZs are better out of the box, but with some polish/spring work, I believe the Tanfoglios, TriStars (Caniks) and Jerichos can be just as good. I've no experience with the Sar pistols, but I've heard good things about them too.
  13. I encountered the same thing with the long slide convention pictured above and was able to remove the barrel by twisting it back and forth across the breech face.
  14. You have the Match, Hunter and a Limited Pro right? Those should all be polygonal rifled, straight barrels.
  15. Its pretty hard to take a good picture of rifling, but here's something which might help: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygonal_rifling
  16. This legislative season is a scary one here behind the iron curtain.
  17. If there's a grandfather clause, the position bit is unenforceable. Looks like "rebuild parts" business is going to boom in CO like it has in CA...
  18. Cha-Lee, I don't know how the CO law is written, but the CA high-cap ban does not prohibit possession.
  19. Since I converted my TS to a 9mm Open gun my lightened .40 top end mostly just sits in the safe, so if anyone wants to work out a rental, trade or purchase with trial period, send me a PM. I figure it could be a way to scratch that itch without so much risk.
  20. That's it?!? Hell just ask the users on this forum, there's enough collective knowledge here to solve any problem.
