  1. I knew you would! When I first read about this build, you said you only planned to shoot Minor, but Minor scoring gets old pretty quick.
  2. Alma, is this the stock CZ disco on the left and the stock Canik disco on the right?
  3. Dan, I switched to the 97B trigger to get more reach: 85 combat trigger: 97B trigger:
  4. So Big Dog, are you shooting Major through it now? Or just Minor?
  5. Yes, I bought a surplus Mossad off GB and I was great! A few of the ones you're looking at are actually in great shape and are a real bargain. It uses the same parts as a small frame Witness. I have sort of a sick fetish for small frame Tanfos, feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions.
  6. I have pondered the same thing, but since that's a single stack .22 short with a five round mag, it might be a stretch... It is however ported and flat as hell!!! Maybe I'll use a barney mag and break it out for a steel match someday...
  7. I think you should show up to a 'fun steel match' shoot your .45 from the low ready position, and make some friends. Chances are good someone there will have a full setup as a spare they'll loan you for the next USPSA match (they'll probably even supply their reloads if you buy them dinner), that way you could get the full experience with a competitive setup for the little or no investment. From there I assume you'll fall in love with the sport, pick your first division and buy a whole setup just for it. Don't feel like you have to start in Production, if you like shooting Limited guns, start in Limited (or any other division for that matter). If you're just dying to shoot Open, you don't want to have $1,000 tied up in a Production rig you don't want to shoot. I was too intimidated to start in Open, but now I wish I had. If you ask me, it's the easiest division to become proficient in (few or no reloads, giant mag well when you do reload, awesome trigger, red dot).
  8. In my opinion, Production is the only "shoot what you have" division, whereas shooters in the other divisions buy pistols specifically for competition, so why would you want to buy anything but the most competitive combination? The striker fired pistol fans will be all over me, but this is my list: Production: DA/SA, 9mm, double stack, semi-auto Limited/L10: SAO, .40, double stack, semi-auto Open: SAO, 9mm/.38 Super, double stack, semi-auto, with red dot sight and compensator Single Stack: .45 1911 (I'm not sure if there's an advantage either way, but some prefer .40) Revolver: S&W 625 6 shot .45ACP
  9. .40 is the minimum caliber for Major in Limited, but .38 is the minimum caliber for Major is Open. If you're going to shoot Open Major, .38 is the way to go over .40 because of the capacity advantage. .40 Open shooters are in the minority.
  10. Do you mean like this?: I used to shoot Olympic Rapid Fire with a pistol just like this one.
  11. Now I understand, thank you. I've never shot a major match.
  12. Ben, my Jericho has a long hammer spring like a CZ, so it isn't really apples to apples, but a reduced power trigger plunger spring and a plunger polished to a mirror finish really help the DA pull (a Huening roller plunger is the holy grail of Tanfo tuning), mine is in the 5 1/2# range with an 11.5# hammer spring. I cut down a large frame firing pin to fit and it sets off anything. A back burner project project of mine is a ball bearing plunger.
  13. I just buy more to mitigate the shipping costs I looks around the website "what else could I possibly need in the future??? hey, I might buy the gun go go with that trigger someday!"
  14. Rookie mistake! I've learned that when dealing with EAA, persistence is paramount and the squeaky wheel gets the oil. When I place an order I call the following day and ask them to read it back to me.
  15. I tried a ported EFK on a small frame 9mm Before I started reloading and it had little or no effect on factory ammo. Then again, factory ammo won't work a comp either, so maybe hand loads with slow powder could work well with a ported barrel.
  16. I was just comparing the CZ disco to the my Tanfo one and I think I can make it work! As far as I can tell the only difference is the pin hole: 2.25mm vs 2.5mm on the Tanfo. Obviously I plan to try it with one of my stock CZ discos before I shell out the dough for the CZC one.
  17. OK I get it now, range lead has more lead content.
  18. That's funny! I just saw that one on Armslist and I was going to send you a message about it. I think they made a slight revision to beef up the slide on the TS, but I've heard good things about the SI.
