  1. That's a good idea, I'm going collecting live rounds I see at the range. It's a good way to experiment with different bullet profiles and weights.
  2. There's a 9mm Stock I which has been converted to SAO on GB, but they simply list it as EAA Witness 9mm.
  3. It should just need a little more powder than a .40 load with the same bullet and powder. I'm thinking 4 grains of Clays under a 180 grain lead bullet should get you close.
  4. Someone clipped coils in an attempt to alleviate light strikes caused by a reduced power hammer spring (ask me how I know ).
  5. The firing pin return spring is too short. Did you clip any coils? The pin gets stuck in the breach face if there aren't enough coils to stop its forward momentum.
  6. The racker is a custom job which came with a slide I bought once, but I've made a few rackers, it's not that hard. I use a bolt chucked up in my drill press for the stock.
  7. EAA sells 6" .40 barrels and the Hunter ships SAO.
  8. I talked to a guy who bought a Hunter conversion from EAA, but I talked to them and they said they "never get them" (how many times have you heard that one?).
  9. I have the factory CZ wide race hammer on my TS and it's incredible! I bought it from CZ USA, I would get another but they're never in stock; it looks just like the wide one from CZC, but it looks like they manufacture that one themselves, so I don't know if the hooks are identical. If your question is: "can you use the standard, skinny 75B hammer on a TS?", I would say "yes". I've actually thought of doing the same thing: bobing the 75B hammer down to a little nub and using a 20# hammer spring for a quick snap
  10. Stock II fans: I just got a call from Dawn at EAA on an unrelated matter and I she told me they don't have any Stock II 9mm conversions, but they have some Stock I 9mm kits for $385. The Stock I: Stock II They both have a cone lock barrel, but the Stock I is cut for the same sight as the Match, whereas the Stock II is cut for the Super Sight.
  11. This one is probably the jewel of my stable: Hunter frame, 9x19 Gold Team conversion, Cheely C More mount, Henning mag well, Henning Trigger (although I've since put that trigger on my Match) Huening Roller plunger and Tanfoglio heart-shaped race hammer. In L10 trim with the .45 Hunter Upper: I also have a 6" 9mm barrel which I haven't dreamt up a project for yet... I'm thinking of cutting it and threading it .540" X 40 and installing a Brazos ThunderComp II on the Gold Team slide:
  12. Nealio brought up the idea of a place for us mad scientists to find parts for our beloved pistols, so this is it: The Chop Shop This is the thread to show off your new project, get technical info and ask for help.
  13. I'll bet if you took the hours of labor the OP has into the first few, multiplied it by the industry standard for machinists' pay, you'd have a cost well over that.
  14. Man, with all these "I'll take it" comments without even asking for a price, you should make a mint! The reality is that there's a price point for everything. The sight is cool, innovative and for $400 each you couldn't make them fast enough, but at $1,500 you'd be hard pressed to sell a handful, somewhere in there lies the price point. To say "I'll take it" without a price tag seems a little silly.
  15. It's true that there are enough subtle differences between small frame Tanfos and CZs that I try not to mix mags. I shot a match with CZ75B .40 and the EAA mags seemed to fit good enough, but I had some unexplained malfunctions in the heat of battle.
  16. I've been thinking about the same thing, maybe just a thread on this forum listing what we have and what we want; like a Tanfo trading post.
  17. It could, but only if EAA has a 9mm Stock II conversion kit in stock...
  18. As I understand, they cut back the slide and install a cone comp; the barrel is the same length.
  19. I'll be damned! Thanks for the info Mike. I guess I should read the rule book again when I start a new division.
  20. Nice work on that Texas Star Big Dog! I've never tried AC, maybe we can trade samples if we ever get to shoot together.
  21. The spring rates are provided in metric, so they don't come out to nice even pounds, but my Hunter .45 came with three springs in the ~11#-18# range I would expect a few in the 10#-12# range
