  1. If either of you end up with a spare rear sight from the Mossad, I'd love to buy it from you.
  2. Yes, I've been playing with the idea lately, the way to do the rib like a true sight tracker would be to machine a shroud to thread onto the barrel, with a corresponding cut in the slide; lots of work. The other way to do it would be like ogiebb said: a blank comp, like the Czechmate: Another idea I had was to find the spare barrel from a Gold Team (the unported one), cut the single compensator port off and cut a dovetail for a front sight.
  3. As long as they're all small pistol primers, the brand doesn't have a significant effect on velocity; some say magnum pistol primers and small rifle primers bump the velocity by 30-40 fps, but they're harder too so if you have a light hammer spring I would stick to Federals if you can get them. I just use CCI or Winchester for minor loads.
  4. That's why I sold my .22 conversions: good triggers = bad ignition, crap triggers = reliable ignition, besides I can reload 9mm for the price of .22 ammo. I much prefer the Buckmark to the Ruger, the grip angle is closer to the CZ (Ruger is more like a Glock) and the trigger fulcrum of the Ruger is too far forward of the trigger, creating an up-and-back trigger stroke (same with their Model 77 rifles).
  5. 4.0 only got me 117 PF with plated bullets in a 4.5" CZ barrel so I would load ten rounds each: 4.4, 4.6, 4.8 and shoot them over a crono. I'm guessing all your bullets types will produce very similar velocities, so I wouldn't bother comparing them until you find your charge weight, then shoot them for groups side by side.
  6. Of those powders I have loaded WST with 125gr Xtremes and 124gr lead round nose, here is the data:
  7. No, the pistol cycles perfectly, for the comp I chose the small frame Tanfoglio type because they're readily available on Numrich, but the three port you see in the picture is actually for a .40 (.425" holes) not 9mm as advertised (they've since fixed that... almost) so it wastes gas, but I've also been going the wrong direction with my loads: heavier bullets and less powder. My current load is a 135gr bullet over 7gr HS6, it makes Major and is very soft, but the muzzle jumps a little; I have some 100s and 115s on order. How much do you want for your Czechmate?
  8. There's a lot of useful information on these forums in the side chatter.
  9. I'll bet whoever did the action job put in a light hammer spring which is causing your light strikes. I've found .22 conversion kits only work with factory springs.
  10. +1 when I want to share load data I take a screen shot of the spreadsheet.
  11. Picked up a box stock CZ 75B and shot a classifier match last month and out shot all my other classifications by 10%... maybe I should switch to Production.
  12. You dog! Your first post on Enos and it's to show off your CM. I've got a poor man's CM (converted TS), but I just can't seem to get the right comp... or maybe the right load...
  13. The mags are hit and miss, I took some measurements here: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=170597&hl=%2Bmagazines#entry1891397
  14. I use 1000 + grit sand paper on flat spots (sides of the trigger bow and hammer) and a felt wheel with automotive polishing compound on everything else.
  15. I'd like to hear from someone who has shot similar Open guns in both 40 and 9 who can describe the difference in feel.
  16. I have one in route to my FFL as we speak
  17. This is the spot right here, a few passes with a file, test fit, repeat. It's over sized there on purpose; my new CZ barrels have come the same way. When I bought a new barrel and found myself in the same situation I was Google searching for barrel fitting and came across this post by David Milam of Cajun Gun Works (schmecky): http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=47664.0
  18. I have a small competition frame, but I haven't decided how to build it out: Production or Open...
  19. COAL will absolutely effect pressure which will directly relate to a change in velocity!!! I tested the same load (9 Major) with different OALs and found that I lost 5 fps (0.4%) for every .01" I lengthened the load. However a barrel 1" shorter lost 61 fps! That's 5%
