  1. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=191773&page=1 About half way down the page there are details of the ambi safety install.
  2. Unlike Limited, SS or Revolver you don't get more rounds and since Open guns tend to shoot flatter at Major PF I don't think you'd pick up any time on the splits, but if you're a "mostly As kind of guy" it won't hurt too much. Is your Limited 9 or 40? If it's 9 I suggest you just slap a dot on it give Open minor a try. The gun will certainly handle better without a comp and with 115s and fast powder like Clays the dot jumps out of the glass, then right back to the same place pretty fast.
  3. I'm sure someone, just not me; if it's not spit, I fill er up
  4. The trouble with the V12 is that the comp only has two small ports, so they compensate (pun intended) with 12 holes in the barrel; the 12 holes in the barrel bleed off a lot of gas behind the bullet, slowing it down and requiring 6-10% more powder for the same velocity. This is the real reason the 9mm Gold Teams have barrel issues, because they are fed a steady diet of ammo which would make 180-190PF in a gun with no holes! 38 super is a lower pressure round, so it's not as hard on the gun, but that kind of juice in 9mm would tear up any gun. The feed issues were caused by the "old style" mags with the spacer in the front, the new style work fine.
  5. That's a workable solution and you don't even need someone to fit the barrel, you can do it yourself with a file.
  6. The angle between the disco and the trigger bar changes during the DA stroke, so a slight radius feels best.
  7. I've done what you describe with the Type 1, but never with the pre-b so I can't speak with authority; the CGW is $38 and the CZC is $55 if that does it for you.
  8. I'll bet you did! Try switching back and forth between 115s at 175pf and 147s at 130pf
  9. I get a lot of questions about short reset disconnctors so here's a little guide: Cajun Gun Works offers three discos: type 1, 2 and 3; don't ask me why they're numbered the way they are, but in order from shortest reset to longest: Type 3 Type 1 Type 2 The Type 3 must be fit to the Shadow, the Type 1 is the "drop in" for the Shadow and can be hand fit to the SP01/75B and the Type 2 is "drop in" for the SP01/75B. CZ Custom sells a "pre B" disco which is similar to the Type 1.
  10. Did you take a look at the tuning thread? It has all the info you're looking for.
  11. Nice, you're in good company! I prefer the short mags with the rubber base pads.
  12. Great! I'd start at 9gr and work up with a chrono.
  13. People use rifle primers because they're designed to handle higher pressures, also some claim to get higher velocities from them because they're supposedly hotter and make for a more complete burn. I started loading 9 major with rifle primers then switched to pistol when I started to run low; I saw no detectable difference in velocity, nor an appreciable difference in the 'flatness' of my primers so I won't be buying any more rifle primers for pistols. The only real difference I saw was that the rifle primers are significantly harder to light off and with a 15# hammer spring in my CZ I was getting light strikes like crazy. My other concern with rifle primers is gas cutting of the breech face. If you look at high mileage Open guns they usually have a primer sized ring eroded into the breech face; this is due to gas escaping the case around the primer, I can only imagine softer, more malleable primers do a better job of sealing the primer pocket. So for me I load 9 major with whatever pistol primers I have on hand and I have found I can help out new Production shooters by trading my Federal primers for their Winchester or CCI primers
  14. I run SP2 which is very similar to 3N38 (VV says use the same data) with 115gr bullets in my CZ Open guns so I have the same length restraints as you and I have pushed a 115 to as much as 181 PF The powder is very fine and I have dropped as much as 10gr in a 9x19 case (my highest velocity actually came from 9.5). What OAL are you loading? mine is 1.160".
  15. The 85C is a fantastic value and a great start to your CZ collection. The only downside to the 85C vs 75 Shadow is the short beaver tail, other than that you're good to go. The biggest reason to buy the Shadow pistols over the 75B or the SP01 is that the Shadows lack a firing pin block giving them the potential for the ultimate short light trigger; the 85C also lacks that block. Here's a picture tutorial to tune up the trigger: CZ Tuning 101 with Professor Atlas
  16. I don't know, I have a tackle box of springs and I just grab one, bend it to see how it feels and stick it in! I made some notes about coil diameters and spring weights, maybe some day I'll sort them out... I'm pretty sure most of what I have is 18# hammer springs and 10-12# recoil springs; I've gone as low as 8# on the recoil spring and it feels pretty good.
  17. The EGW hammer is nice and crisp. I use relatively heavy springs on SAO guns because the lighter springs just make the break feel mushier; a light SA shot is all about the polishing and the short hammer hooks, the springs have little effect.
  18. That's funny Trent You might not know, but RIIID owns Canyon Creek Custom, he's also a GM in Limited, Open and Production
  19. Do it justice and win tonight! It'll be good mental practice for Nat's: all you have to do is make your objective to hit every piece of steel and I guarantee you will win.
  20. At 9gr of powder in a 9mm case, I don't need to worry about a double charge, it would be all over the press
  21. Small frame Glock mag pouches work perfectly for the TS.
