  1. I ran a handfull of 9major through my .38 super and it functioned like it should...not enough to see any wear
  2. I run the same major load in my open gun for uspsa, speed steel and 3 gun...
  3. I do it...but just because I'm cheap and don't want to waste 1 round or let it hit the ground
  4. I sometimes catch myself being lazy with a weak grip/support hand as well...More dry fire practice engraving muscle memory will help...
  5. Why not cock the hammer as soon as you draw to make ready? That's what I do...
  6. I was driving 4 hours to a sectional match last year and got about half way there until it clicked that I didn't pack my gun in my bag! Luckily the match was the next day and I had time to go back for it...
  7. If you were reloading for .40 minor, I would say to go with that, you can load up a soft shooting .40 minor load...since you are not I would shoot 9...like stated above, but a .40 and get an aftermarket 9 barrel for it!
  8. It pays to go through your gear and make sure everything is tight, especially before a big match...oh yea, and loc-tite!
  9. I tumble mine with lemi-shine and dawn, primers in. Then I'll roll them in the media separator to get the pins and bulk of the water out. Roll them in a large towel for a couple minutes, then spread them out over another towel with a fan directly on them for an hour or 2...if its sunny out I'll lay them out in the sun. This has worked good for me so far...
  10. I thought you were getting a 2011, why waste your time with all this Glock nonsense?
  11. I have worked up minor loads for my open gun for steel, like the others have said, it will run flatter at major pf...I would just find a good major load and run that...Of the powders you listed, I have tried 3 of the 4 and I prefer AA7, been using it for several years now...around 9.5 grains for 9 major!
  12. I'm running a vortex 1 piece cantilever mount...with a vortex razor 1-6...
  13. Who still makes 45's? I just got one for my back up gun from a guy named Barry, he was making them, not sure if he has any left...I can get you contact information if you are interested...
  14. The first part that broke on my open gun during a match was a optic mount screw on my open gun, after day 1 of nationals last year...this year I had a barrel link break mid match.
  15. I was in your squad, Revolver Shooter, hope everything is back to normal. I can tell you, you looked to be in severe pain. We all learned a lesson that day. Yea everything is back to normal...I don't think I have any permanent damage...
  16. We bought a 5th wheel this year and my first thought was taking it to major matches within the region...We took it to 2 matches...one about 3 hours away that allowed dry camping at the range and another that was about 5 hours away and we stayed at a county campground...It was good to have the wife, kid and dog along for the weekend, and maaaaybe saved a couple of bucks...but I would probably just assume stay at a hotel for a major match and not have that much more to stress out about.
  17. Although I don't want to anytime soon...I'll play... A70998 Open Division
  18. My biggest match screw up to date was at the Area 1 championship this year...Shooting a very loud open gun... It was my stage to shoot first and I was ready to go, had my stage plan dialed in and was confident...the RO started the commands and realized the timer had an issue and stopped me before the buzzer, my last chance to realize I didn't have a plug in my left ear...for some reason it didnt hit me until I took my first shot that I forgot to put my left plug in... Now I knew the rules that if an RO realized your hearing protection fell off he was to stop the shooter and give a re-shoot, but I didn't know I could stop myself and qualify for a re-shoot...A local club match I would have stopped myself anyway and taken the zero'd stage, but I was shooting a great match and didn't want to ruin it. All 32 rounds the only thing I could think about and concentrate on was my lack of hearing protection...and the ringing! Needless to say it was my worst stage of the match and my ears rang for days! Hoping to pass on the knowledge to any shooter that forgets ear-pro and doesn't know they can stop themselves!
  19. Join a gym...and a get a grip strengthener, as stated above...I keep one in my rig and get reps in while I'm driving!
  20. Safety is always #1...followed closely by running on the ragged edge...shooting a clean match...and winning!
  21. I would try both and see what you like...115s shold shoot flatter, but I use 124s...Using AA7 I don't know if I could get enough powder in the case for 115s!
  22. Match experience will help the most, but watch other more experienced shooters and see how they are breaking down and shooting a stage, choose a simple stage plan, if you watch most big name shooters they will shoot a stage strait up rather than try anything dangerous or tricky...
  23. Baseball or softball middle infield...you use all the same skills as mentioned above.
  24. A good towel and grip tape or stippling on your grip!
