  1. Word to the wise--much of the information on the internet regarding state laws that restrict possession of NFA weapons is outdated or just plain inaccurate. Don't try to bring your SBR into Iowa on a Form 20, for example, just because you found an NFA chart on some website that has Iowa pictured as a green state.
  2. Funny, I thought this thread was going to start with a narrative predicting that PCC Division will eventually turn into SBR Division, due to the inherent advantages of allowing SBRs to compete against regular carbines. Then we would have debate, with opinions that vary depending on whether SBRs are available under the law of the competitor's state of residence.
  3. All hammer spurs are ugly, but that one is really bad!
  4. I have the Hiperfire 24Cs in both of my ASA carbines, and they are working flawlessly.
  5. I have ordered a bunch of stuff recently (at least a dozen separate orders over the past couple months) from PSA and everything has come through just fine with no big delays. You need to think of PSA as a large distributor, which is exactly what it has become. If you require a lot of personal communication and interaction, that's what your local gun shop is for.
  6. Bring the gun close to your belt at the center of your body and use your eyes to watch the moonclip go in.
  7. Isn't there a limit of 1600 fps to prevent damage to steel poppers and whatknot? My 95-gr. production load makes right around 1500 fps out of my PCCs, and it's not a violent load to shoot. Seems to me that any load with enough poop to operate a DI system or run a comp would well exceed the 1600 fps speed limit.
  8. "Not designed to be able to strip a cartridge from a full magazine with the bolt forward"? My friend, that is pure exquisite BS. Personally, I would start over with something else, but I have a very low threshold for guns that malfunction.
  9. My competition set-up for USPSA PCC Division: American Spirit Arms 9G 9mm side-chargers (they use Glock mags, up to 41 rounds w/Taylor Freelance base pads), Hiperfire 24C trigger assemblies set at 2.5 lbs, and C-More Railways w/6 min. dots. I could not be happier with this fine pair of competition carbines!
  10. I do want to compliment you on the cool photos! ?
  11. Pretty much nobody runs their Production ammo (or factory stuff) in a 929. As a rule, those who have had good results with the 929 load specific revolver ammo for it.
  12. Much as I dislike the C&S pin in a center-fire revolver, I must grudgingly admit that my 617 has one installed, because I found that I could get good ignition with a (somewhat) reduced action. Do not dry-fire the gun without snap caps, or it will ding the crap out of your rimfire chamber edges.
  13. Icchhh. Those are the two worst FP choices, in my experience. The C&S pins break, and the pointy-tipped factory pins provide poor ignition with competition action work. Find an older round-tipped Ti factory pin that measures .495" and you are good to go. The Apex aftermarket pin is good also.
  14. If I were looking for a budget PCC, I would look no further than the ATI carbine. (Street price, around $700.)
  15. The 31-round ETS mags work just fine in both my PCCs. I like them.
  16. Gotcha. With a 5" barrel or less, I strongly prefer the plain ol' Bladetech rig. So much more secure, and just as fast (you can draw much more positively when you're not worried about knocking the gun onto the ground)! With my longer tubes, I feel forced to use a "race holster" (CR Speed), but I really don't like the feeling it gives me.
  17. Has she tried less rearward barrel cant? Her draws will be smoother and faster with the barrel pointing straight down or even slightly forward.
  18. Opinions vary, I suppose, but I advocate a small amount of blue loctite on every screw on a S&W revolver (except the sight adjustment screws, obviously), including the cylinder release screw and the small screw that holds the rear sight assembly in place. Once everything is set up correctly on a gun, I tighten everything down very firmly with well-fitting screwdriver bits, and leave it alone. There is really no reason to take the gun apart unless there is a problem that needs fixing--which will be a pretty rare occurrence if you don't dick around with stuff. Most of the problems people have with revolvers are self-induced.
  19. Welcome back. I have to admit I have become tired of Revo, and have been shooting mostly other divisions. But, I do enjoy shooting my 627s also--just gotta count to 8 is all! ;-)
  20. OK, I hate to be so uninformed on this stuff, but I guess I am still confused. If I get something like this: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/593706222 What else would I need, and I can I assemble the rest of the upper without any specialized tools or knowledge?
  21. No SBRs in Iowa, unless I renew my Class III license again.
  22. I appreciate all the suggestions, but are any of these presently available as a fully-assembled complete upper that I can simply purchase and pop onto my lower?
