  1. Funny to watch everybody try to put their particular spin on cutting down hammers, and makimg it far more complicated than necessary! So for those who haven't already done so, I hereby authorize all of you to simply Carmonize your hammers! (No charge--hell, I stole the idea from an old Gun Digest article from 1980....)
  2. If your gun has the blunt Ti factory pin that measures .495", you won't improve on it. If you have the newer CA-drop-test version that is pointy and shorter, you'll want something different.
  3. The only real benefit of a Ti cylinder is reduced peening at the cylinder stop notches. The rest is purely placebo.
  4. For those of you who still harbor hope that there is a future for USPSA Revolver Division, I strongly recommend you shoot in Revolver Division and not be screwing around with your wheelguns in Production and Open. Revolver Division desperately needs to show more participation and mission count. On the other hand, if you just are looking to have fun, shoot whatever gun and division you want!
  5. Why would anyone want to leave an ugly hammer spur in place? That's like asking the doctor to leave that giant wart on your nose, and just drill a couple holes in it to make it a bit lighter.
  6. I'll take the leather jacket for my son Sam.  What is your email for Paypal gift payment?

  7. Bumper chrome. Looks like one of the prize guns from Second Chance.
  8. We're shooting Saturday. Not sure what time it starts.
  9. Only 4 wheels this year--congrats to Josh for an excellent performance at a challenging match. Thanks to the Area 3 staff for placing plaques and prizes on the table for Revo despite the low number of entries--classy move.
  10. Only 4 revolvers this year. Not enough for any sort of recognition, apparently. Excellent stages, though. It was a very challenging match. Tons of hardcover.
  11. I might switch to Open and let you guys battle it out in Revolver. I ran the wheel at Area 3 and 5 and I'm ready to do something different for awhile.
  12. The great promise of the 929 was to function with cheap promotional factory ammo. It was the revolver that would allow easy entry into the division by new wheelgunners without the need for all the tinkering and futzing of special handloads. (People who already had 627s found no particular benefit in switching, to be candid.) Unfortunately, the 929 developed the reputation of being finicky, and it hasn't been a huge help to the effort to save the division as we had hoped.
  13. Loctiting an untightened strain screw in place will work fine.....right up until it doesn't!
  14. Agree. Not a difference worth worrying about. Kinda like a rear spoiler on a Honda Civic.
  15. Most people eventually want at least a 5" barrel. Might as well get the PC version. I've been running a 6.5" 27-7 all year, but can't say it's any huge improvement from my 5" 627PCs.
  16. This is what a couple years of Carmonizing hammers leaves behind.
  17. I always use genuine dremel fiber cut-off wheel, sanding drum, and cratex polishing tip, in that order, when chopping hammers.
  18. Cutting the weight of the hammer ("Carmonizing" it) will only make a small, incremental difference in performance for DA shooting. If you want to thumb-cock it, you might as well leave the hammer alone. Safer and easier. When you reach the point where you no longer have any need or desire for SA mode, then cut it all the way! That's my advice, anyway...
  19. If you want to thumb-cock the gun sometimes, I would strongly recommend leaving the hammer in factory configuration.
  20. I would opt for the 4" 617 10-shot.
  21. Back during the "slot match" days in Barry, Tulsa, and Vegas (all of which I attended), we peaked at around 40 wheelguns, then started a steady decline down to 17. It was never hard to get slots, and in fact I don't think anyone was ever turned away. 50 or 75 revolvers would have been no problem at all, if we had that many interested players. Having Revo Nats in Barry as an adjunct to the SS Nats has been a mixed bag. It increased attendance due to the captive audience, but many feel that a one-day match doesn't feel like a real national event.
  22. And there you have it, jsg. You have now heard directly from most of the vocal opposition to the 8-shot option. This is the part of the conversation where I remind everyone that Revolver Division attracted a total of 17 shooters (including me) to Nationals the year before it moved to Barry. (Ask those guys who claim to care so much about Revo if they were even there that year....) The division was dying. Unfortunately, 8-shot hasn't revived it. But at least some of us tried.
