  1. Where is the fricking "like" button around here, anyway?
  2. Since when did the Smith & Wesson forum become a repository of information about custom competition revolver work? Those little old hens don't even shoot their wheelguns!
  3. True dat. In addition to actually weighing them, I was messing around measuring relative inertias of S&W hammers; and while the Apex hammer has, as you'd expect, lower inertia than a stock hammer, a chopped Carmoney hammer is lower. I'd have to check my notes, but if low inertia alone is the criteria, a chopped Carmoney hammer kicks the Apex's butt, IIRC. I was the Carroll Shelby of the custom revolver world. :-)
  4. Then what is the min for a comp gun with minimum springs, an Apex hammer and restricted to soft primer ammo? The guy posting said 3.75 was not a problem so 3 ain't that far off. Wondering if anybody had gone through it and tried to wring it out and had numbers on the minimum. I don't know. I just know I have no interest in anything under 5#, because there is no way to get under 5# without the trigger rebound becoming unacceptably soft and sluggish--at least for me. I agree that with the stock hammer 5# is the min. But the Apex hammers smack harder for the same spring energy because of reduced mass which means you can dial the mainspring down more. Reducing the mainspring would not alter the rebound feel. We can agree that to get the DA down under 5#, you must reduce both mainspring tension and rebound spring tension, right Bountyhunter? Most people who shoot the fast action sports don't want the sluggish rebound feel that becomes necessary to get under 5#, including me. Maybe for PPC or Bianchi or the other "watching the paint dry" shooting games!

  6. You show me a reliable 3# DA revolver trigger pull, and I'll show you a whore who ain't had the clap.
  7. To get to Apex Tactical's website, simply Google the word "Carmonize." Apex's site will be the first one that appears!
  8. Two-day match (Friday and Saturday), shot over two days or pick one day and shoot the whole match that day?
  9. OK, I stand partially corrected. I searched JM and revolver since this is the revolver forum, and the OP asked a question about revolver shooting technique. JM does not place his finger on the front of a revolver trigger guard.
  10. The JM I'm thinking of definitely does not shoot with his finger on the trigger guard. He also does not have gorilla hands. He uses both methods. I have seen him shoot many times with his support hand up on the trigger guard. Search his name in google images and its about 50/50.Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk I don't know what you think you're seeing, but I just looked through the first couple hundred Google images of Jerry shooting handguns, and I didn't see a single pic of his shooting with his finger on the front of the trigger guard!
  11. Yeah, that jumped out at me also, Alec. Sounds like BS puffing.
  12. It doesn't seem to hurt rich wolfe.. He doesn't suck even a little. Rich is awesome, and no doubt he makes it work. But that is the goofiest grip i've ever seen. There is nobody in the revolver game today with more raw talent than Rich. If he avoids disaster, nobody can beat him.

  14. OK, I'm not clear on the match schedule....is the actual MCC on Friday or Saturday, or both?
  15. I think 10 stages? Somewhere in there, anyway. Prize table will be equivalent to previous IRCs. Universal Shooting Academy will be staffing the match--those interested in working should contact them.
  16. While it's in vogue to criticize S&W for the QC, and their over-selling of the "tuned PC actions," much of which is justified, we really should admit they are pretty good when it comes to handling warranty claims. It's not reasonable to expect them to honor a warranty to someone who is not the original purchaser, or to repair guns that have been heavily modified, yet they routinely do just that. On the few occasions I have sent guns back to the factory, I expected and offered to pay for repairs--I was never invoiced.
  17. Nobody wants to answer this question?
  18. Fly Allegiant into Sanford--flights are cheap and that airport is way smaller and easier than Orlando. Stay in Lake Wales or Sebring. Great seafood in that area. Cliff, Sam and I went on an airboat ride out in the swamp a couple years ago, saw gators and other wildlife.
  19. I am very surprised by the level of bitter, harsh, and accusatory language that the original poster has chosen to employ in this thread. Right or wrong, that sort of personal vitriol has traditionally been viewed as unbecoming to this community.
  20. So is this a private, for-profit enterprise? If so, who owns it?
  21. John: There is no direct conflict--the WSRC/WSSSC match is Nov. 10-13, which is the weekend following the IRC. The IRC is Nov. 3-6.
