  1. I can confirm that the Arredondo AR-15 flag fits. "Made of supertuff nylon with a melting point of 480 deg."
  2. I'm planning to shoot my first match this weekend with my new rifle and have been practicing reloads. I can't consistently drop the mag using just my trigger finger. If i use my thumb its O.K. but seems slower. I've searched and found this issue mentioned but can't find a solution. An Odin part has been suggested but it doesn't look like it fits. Has anyone found a solution? Lighter spring?
  3. I just chronoed the 3.5 gr load. It ran 1017 fps, 126 PF. 1.15" OAL, 14-1/2" barrel
  4. I just received my new JP GMR-13 and tried my 9mm pistol load which is a 124 FMJ RN over 4.2 Tite-Group. This ran 1200 fps, 148 PF. I'm trying a new batch @ 3.5 grs.
  5. Try about 4.1 Tite Group with a 124 bullet. Makes minor in a 5" Wilson, no comp. Don't expect much from a comp shooting minor loads.
  6. I had the lens shoot loose on an Open pistol which C-More fixed. Before 3 gun got popular, I ran a C-More on my AR for a lot of pistol bay rifle side matches with no issues. Good for about 100 yards, went to Meopta 1-4 later.
  7. My shooting and my track Porsche have the same sponsor....Social Security
  8. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. There are very many proven .308 loads using 4064, 4895, Varget, RL 15 and other powders. Do a search. For starters, try 175 SMK, BR-2 Primers, Win Brass, 2.800" oal, 44.5 Varget.

    VP9 loads

    I recently bought a VP9. I'm liking 4.3 Tite Group, 115 JHP @ 1.103". 1153 FPS, 133 Power Factor
  10. Last year there were some 12" plates at maybe 30 and 45 yds that were "challenging".
  11. It's been awhile since I loaded Clays in a .45 but here's my data. 178 gr., 4.8 Clays, 930 FPS , 166PF. 200 gr., 4.7 Clays, 907 FPS, 181 PF. 230 gr., 4.8 Clays, 903 FPS, 208 PF. (Pin Load). All Win LP primers out of a 1911 design.
  12. I tried 4.4 Clays, 1.19", 180 Zero JHP. Got 916 fps, my notes say "soft, inconsistent". I like Clays for a steel or 3-gun load. 3.7 with a 165 Berry FP made 786 fps, 3.8 with a 165 Zero JHP ran 867 fps.
  13. I looked at the Rules pdf linked here and see that the Tactical Optics magazine must fit in a box 3" W x 7.5" L x 1" Height. I have been using both Thermold and Lancer 30 round magazines for years. Both mags hold 30 rounds however, both mags have a stiffening rib located about where the rifles mag well would begin that exceeds the 1". The Lancer is about .070" and Thermold about .050" too high. No issue with width or height. Yes, the 2012 rules don't have this language.
  14. I recently received some 69 gr SMK from Powder Valley. Took about a month since I ordered.
  15. I'm left handed and use the "off" side all the time. The only safety that has held up for me is "Kings". My gunsmith, EGW, added a stop to the RH side which helped.
  16. I have an old Open gun built by EGW. Its in 9 x 23 caliber and has an STI frame and Caspian slide. No issues with slide to rail fit. I did re-barrel @ about 65,000 rounds and shortened the comp as I was using it as a steel gun. Its carrying its original C-More sight with integral mount. I would guess the gun is worth about $1200. If the gun you are looking at is about that price, I'd buy it.
  17. I ordered some of the "In Stock" 69 SMK on 5/2/13. Still waiting for delivery. Their website suggested that it takes 24 days to ship an order.
  18. I use no crimp on 223 loads.
  19. One solution to "slam fires" is a Titanium firing pin.
  20. I've loaded 1000s of Lyman 525 gr slugs for 3-Gun. 23.5 Universal Clays, Win 209 Primer, WA12F114 Wad, 1170 fps. With 24.5 Univ, 1272 fps.
  21. Using a Remington LTR with a 20" barrel and 125 SMK I ran 46.0 Benchmark with good results.
  22. When I ran 335 I used 25.0 under a Sierra 52 gr HPBT and got 3077 fps with an 18" barel
  23. My load for the 69 SMK is 25.2 Varget, WSR, 2.50". 2794 from 18" JP barrel. Shot 3/4" @ 200 when barrel was new.
  24. I use a JP case gauge. If it fits, its good and I use standard Redding dies. No bad things happened with over 10,000 rounds loaded except for the occasional primer falling out during firing. I use a hand tool for priming, if it seats too easy, discard the brass. Don't over think this. One issue I've had is the bullet sticking in the throat. I use copper solvent regularly in this area.
