  1. No need for heavy bullets if max range is 300 and in fact some need long range to stabilize. I found Sierra Match King 52 HPBT to be very good to 300. Eventually went to SMK 69s for distance and Hornady 55 for short range. I'm now developing loads for PRS type shooting and have settled on the Hornady 73 ELD through a 7.7 twist Krieger 20" barrel.
  2. I have probably loaded at least 400,000 WSP primers with no issues but last season, shooting a classifier, had one shell not go bang. Retrieved the round, pulled the bullet and knocked out the primer. No explosive and no red in the primer. I use a Dillon primer tube filler so rarely check the primers. 1 in 400,000 isn't bad.
  3. A J-P barrel has the accuracy to hit 8" plates @ 100 yards. The issue is knowing bullet drop and having a good optic. I shot a steel match that had IPSC targets @ 90,100, and 110 yards off-hand. With a C-More I had a hard time even seeing the target as they blended with the berm. I did get 14 of 15 hits. The stage was won by a young lady shooting as PCC with a 1-4 scope.
  4. The Mid-Atlantic Section of Area 8 USPSA does not permit that practice.
  5. PCCs work on a blow back system. When firing, you are not using the charging handle. I like TRUBL's explanation.
  6. In my area, SE PA, for both USPSA and Steel Challenge, the gun is kept cased until you are at a safe table. At that point it can be uncased and put into a cart. You could leave the case at the table but I return it to the car. The cart is parked facing a berm at each stage, sometimes at a designated mark, when it's your turn to shoot, the gun is removed from the cart and carried to the start position. Muzzle up or down seems to be an option but I carry muzzle up and it remains there until the "Make Ready" command.
  7. In many years of shooting USPSA and some IDPA, I've never seen a competitor at a match "practicing". Shoot for score and follow the rules.
  8. I recently shot Classifier 06-03 which is a close range hoser with a reload. One of the PCC shooters started with laser on, gun on belt, and had the laser on the A-Zone of the first target. Looked legal to me. Great first shot time.
  9. FP10 or other good gun oil.
  10. I'm "Old School" and polymer with standard switch works fine. + 1 for Shooters Connection as a supplier.
  11. Why would you be using 41 round mags for a steel challenge event?
  12. I had H-S Precision bottom metal in a Remington LTR BDL. I moved it to a Grayboe stock.
  13. The Magpul bottom "metal" is designed for Magpul stocks. Looking at the pictures, I don't see how it would fit a BDL. I'm using an older H-S Precision which has had no issues.
  14. I've been running the polymer since 1999. Had the lens shoot loose on an Open gun once. Otherwise, no issues.
  15. I'm currently running 3.6 Titegroup with 124 JHP in both my GMR-13 and H-K VP9. I don't compete with the VP9 but I'm getting similar PF as the PCC. PCC has light recoil spring and swapped one tungsten weight for a steel weight in the buffer.
  16. I just rebarreled my JP with a 20" Krieger 7.7 twist which was headspaced for a JP bolt from Brownells. It has a tight 223 chamber.
  17. That's the basis for my question. Yes, mag was seated. I have shot hundreds of USPSA matches. I'm wondering if the mag may have been tilted a little forward causing the bolt to slide over the first round.
  18. Shot match last weekend using my 33 round Glock mag with TF extension. I've been using this setup for several matches with no issues. I normally make ready by locking back the slide, pushing mag in, and releasing slide with mag release to chamber the round. Last week on the first stage, the round did not strip from the mag. Pulled trigger, no bang, checked that mag was seated, seemed to be, racked slide and everything worked. Is is possible that the mag was at an unfavorable angle causing the problem?
  19. I ran 65,000 rounds through my 9 x 23 Open pistol before changing barrels and 46,000 rounds through my Limited S & W 40 pistol before selling it. I do have 10,000 rounds through my JP AR and groups are now just over 1 MOA. I don't expect to ever wear out my JP GMR-13 barrel running 124 PF.
  20. One worked immediately, the other required minor tuning at the junction.
  21. My TF + 10 has been 100% reliable on the 31 rd mags. Had Dawson + 5 previously, moved them to my 17 rd mags. They ran 100% in both cases.
  22. I've had good results for 9mm, S & W 40, and .223 here https://brassmanbrass.com/
  23. About 3.5 Titegroup should work fine with your 124 FMJ bullets. I would like to try N320 but today at my shop it was $40/#.
