Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the ideas guys. I understand that if i buy one of the presses like the MEC or dillon that it wont be cost effective. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a single stage press (like the RCBS or lee ones but for shotguns rather then rifle/pistol). I figure if i have a very simple single stage then i might be able to make it worthwhile. Any chance of that? Do they even make a cheap single stage shotgun press? The cheapest press i could find was the lee load it all. Anyone have any experience with it?
  2. I would like to get a cheap (single stage?) press to reload buckshot and slug rounds for 3gun matches. I am leaning towards some kind of single stage due to the low volume amount i will be loading. What are your guys thoughts? Who reloads on a single stage and what is a good cheap press to load buck and slugs?
  3. I shoot a XD9 tactical. But I am in Cali so the XDm's are not available for us. There are ways to get one here within the rules but why bother? Like carter said, the XD works great
  4. Not to discount any of the fine products made by scott or PRP but have you considered taking a more DIY approach? Skate tape is cheap form any skate shop or Vans store in a mall. I bought a large piece for 5 bucks and then customized my grip tape for me. I was able to apply grip tape to certain places so that when i feel it i know my grip is in the right place. Plus at least for me there was some level of personal satisfaction in doing it myself and making it my own.
  5. while not the 5.25 XDM i have an XD9 Tactical and i went with the dawson .100 fiber optic and dawson adjustable rear sight. For competition i think that tritium is a waste of money and the red fiber optic jumps into your vision so much better. Fiber optic front and adjustable rear is the way to go. i could be wrong but i was under the impression that the 5.25 XDM came with a fiber front and adjustable rear stock
  6. Thanks a lot reptoid. That is exactly what i needed. what weight do you use? Anyone have any experience using the different springs?
  7. Some friends have recommended switching recoil springs to reduce some of the recoil and sight disruption. Any thoughts or advice? How many pounds is the stock recoil spring? I am running an Xd9 tactical(5in) and shooting 147gr moly coated with 3.2 gr of titegroup what weight spring should i look at and who makes good ones? And should i swap out the guide rod? its full length in the tactical model
  8. chevy, Thats what i was hoping to be able to do, improve my trigger a bit by myself while the trigger job/drop in is out of my price range. If anyone knows what parts to polish and knows any good techniques then please let me know Thanks
  9. I have heard that polishing some internal parts can help with the functioning of an XD. I have a XD9 with 5in barrel. What pieces can i polish myself that will help improve the gun? What tools or equipment will I need? Any advice would be helpful
  10. I read the books and really enjoyed them. Anyone here who read the books tell me how they compare? Do they do the books justice? I know they added the detail about Renly being gay to the show and that it wasn't in the books. Any other details they added for the show? The whole 'no bad characters, just point of view' things was really intriguing for me.
  11. I like top shot. Is the drama a bit silly sometimes? sure. but it gets people who have no idea about the world of shooting sports a little glimpse and it does it in a way that shows a safe and controlled environment. Like another poster Top Shot is what made me decide to look up USPSA. I saw a few of the guys on show that were USPSA shooters and wanted to know more. Now I am hooked and itch for my next club match. If it gets people who are on the fence or even against firearms to rethink their opinions on shooting and shooters then I say support it even if you disagree with the elimination format.
  12. PKT, Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for. definitely hitting the bookmark button this time.
  13. Hey guys, I ran across a link to a webpage that was a timer with par time options. I was hoping to use it for dry fire practice at home while i save up for a real timer. Unfortunately for the life of me I cant find the thread again. If anyone knows it or has the link please let me know. Thanks all
