  1. JLJ, I too highly recommend the original NM-holder! Everyone praises it and it might even surpass what I have made in my basement. For the sake of things I do have to mention that the basic conscept of my holders were made a couple of years ago in leather and steel. Pretty heavy stuff and not really smooth The belt loops on my holder are just formed strips of kydex bolted to the frame. I have no intention of starting any serious business around my holders, I already have a more than full time job as a Project Coordinator. I have only made some of the kydex type to fellow wheelgunners in my club and also to some other friends in other clubs here in Sweden. I make them totally by hand, with hand tools, promise no specific delivery time and keep no stock. I keep this a strictly european (can also be read, mostly scandinavian) thing and will not ship overseas. Flex, regarding the Ghost/Amadini rebuild I just made two sides of Kydex, drilled and threaded the Ghost block, and produced the "platform" from delrin (another type of plastics). All parts were put together with M4 machine bolts from steel except the tab at the platform which was threaded and joined with a nylon M4 bolt. If anyone would like images and close ups of my stuff send me a PM. No promise regarding delivery time though. I make and modify some of my own gear and work my guns because I like to tinker, not to make a buck... regards, Conny Forsberg
  2. OK let me correct myself then... I have "Carmoninspiredalized" my 1917 hammer.
  3. Well, I used my dremel to grind through the hardened surface. Then the saw made the big job. Please let me qualify as "Carmonizer"...
  4. I actually "Carmonized" my 1917 hammer tonight. It really feels good to hacksaw and grind away on those parts...
  5. Ahhhgg... I really envy you guys that can relaod weak hand. It is unfortunately not an option for us southpaws. I friggin have to swap hands. Annoying! If my left eye was not dominant I would seriously consider starting to shoot right handed.
  6. Roger, must be all that talking about Glock and PD that makes u short stroking... The revenge of the wheelie gods!
  7. I have used a lot of Russian manufactured PMC primers and they have given me better ES than the federals I use when loading for competition. Many times around 12-15 fps.
  8. Thank god there is Volvo Construction Equipment in Sweden then. Buy Volvo, buy swedish steel, buy... wait a minute I think GM owns Volvo... hmmm Well, I like Volvo anyway Death to the other yellow construction machine company!!
  9. Don't you get lots of unburnt powder when using N340? I remember I did when I tried it and those grains always ended up between my extractor and the face of the cylinder making it sometimes impossible to close during the reloads.
  10. I have made my own MC-holders on the same concept. Made posts from plastics too, to keep weight down. I made a 2 post variety which I have put right behind my "holster" being a southpaw reloading with strong hand. You can see it with white posts right behind the 1917 in this image: http://www.vansin.net/images/vansin/w-o-m_01.jpg The 2 post holder is very handy when (if) having to reload in prone position.
  11. I usually break the edges with a stone after mirror polishing it, so that it will not "cut".
  12. I have a homemade one too. I left mine with a hole in the bottom and let the cases fall right into a net bag.
  13. Even though I am not a smith but just a shooter fond of working on my own tools of the trade, I bought some spare parts from Numrich when waiting for delivery of my 1917/1937. Always nice to have some in the box before anything breaks. I dissected mine and found it did not differ that much from a standard "short action". I then decided to give it some trigger work to see if it was "smoothable". Ended up with a pretty good trigger pull (heaven compared to the original) and a bobbed hammer. After that I widened and deepened the rear sight and undercut the front sight. The grips were swapped to my "whiz-o-weird-grip". Chamfered the cylinder and smoothed the trigger. It will be my main gun for IPSC RSD this coming season as it felt as a improvement compared to my 29-3 used last season. Shootability was nice and also quite naturally pointing in the right direction when drawing from GRU. At first, point of impact was a bit low and left but that straightened out with the help of a file. The down side this far is the "snappyness" at PF 180 and above. A very firm grip with support hand is of utmost importance.
  14. I will give my own 1937 Brazilian a try tomorrow. Have been working on it for a while and it will be fun to see if I can match my buddies with it.
  15. Paddy can be found here: The Whisky Exchange Not one of my favourites though.
  16. Jameson is all right and so is the Tullamore Dew. I had the opportunity to visit the Jameson's distillery in Cork just a couple of months ago. Very nice tour with a very carismatic guide. But my all time favourite among Irish whiskies is the Powers 12 years Special Reserve. But that one is more in the $70 range. Smooth as silk with a pronounced tone of honey. And also with a lack-of-hangover-guarantee...
  17. Are u guys serious? I thought the expression "good bourbon" was an oxymoron...
  18. Nice for us here in Europe if you come back to the wheelgunnin' again. We have been missing you in the RSD around here I'm pretty convinced RGS will also get another bite by the bug later on. Conny
  19. So Danne my friend... Are you going for the world record? Now I'm getting worried.
  20. That is less than half what we pay here in Sweden. IF, we can find any... I have found out that PMC LP works equally fine in my revolver. I pay about $25 a K for them.
  21. PACT is assembled in US but all components are prolly made in China?
