  1. In my experience the smoothness of the tip is of pretty high importance. A mirror polish will easier ignite then a more rough one. If I have ignition trouble (and this is irrespective of type of firearm) the first thing I check is if the tip of the firing pin is smooth and without dents. If it's not I polish it. Polishing does not mean reshaping or removing of any significant amount of material. In theory a scratched or uneven surface of the tip looses "a lot" of energy when hitting the metal of the primer and forcing the scratches or dents through the metal. A well polished surface on the contrary deforms the primer metal easier with less friction. It sounds far fetched but I learned this trick from a gunsmith several years ago and it has so far cured ignition problems on one shotgun, one revolver and one pistol I own.
  2. Astroglide, for a smooth and quick reload?
  3. I think most revolvers that are used a lot and especially in fast DA mode will suffer from this eventually. All mechanical devises suffer from wear on parts and has to be maintenanced and faulty parts changed. Terrible to have it happen to the favorite revolver though.
  4. I use a modified Ghost. Works like a dream.
  5. Lefties don't use guns... But we southpaws do! And that kind of cylinder release works just fine for us too.
  6. Is there no way you can get 3G "broadband"? Here in Sweden almost 50 to 60% of the country can get that kind of broadband. Perfect when living towards or actually in the countryside when not connected by fiber or DSL. The four major mobile phone service operators here all offers flat rate broadband via 3G. In some areas (increasing month by month) even by turbo 3G which increases bandwidth from 384 Kbit/sec to 3.6 Mbit/sec. Satellite broadband never was any hit around here...
  7. Well someone has to keep the machines flyin'...
  8. Any for N-frame .44? Someone knows what steel type is used for the clips?
  9. I had a short (very short) period in Production Division but have come to my senses and returned to RD again. Revolver Division is slowly growing here in sweden with demand for used 625:s very high.
  10. I'm a southpaw too and agree completely with COF. That is the way I do it. You can check it out here: http://www.ppc-sweden.com/video/sweden.mpg I'm the guy with SweDen Cup on my back.
  11. I can supply vihtavuori powders at a rate of 1:4 4 pounds of powder to one pound of gold
  12. I was 4 years old and busy asking my older sisters and brother questions about the surrounding world, letters, numbers and stuff...
  13. I usually tuck them in one compartment in my range bag. Have never had any problems with bent clips.
  14. You are most welcome but it will not be completely without resistance... The model 29 is bought and moonclips as well as bullets are ordered. The project has started. Gonna get me a couple of hundred .44 Russian brass or if hard to get, .44 special. Magnum brass is already plentiful around here. Always nice to have a clip with fullhouse stuff for those 70+ yard poppers... As the cylinder is getting modified to accept moonclips I will fix the trigger, until it is as smooth as on the 625 you now own... I will also have to make me a new "whizz-o-weird-grip" as the old one will not fit this sweet and tight-shootin' square butt.
  15. You are, as usual, correct on every point I'll be back... Sure thing, the high-school has modern machinery and some of the students are extremely skilled when it comes to operating them. Cheap too... but don't tell anyone about it
  16. Well... I would like to be competitive so I think shortcuts are most welcome here. I have a friend shooting IPSC with a Ruger SRH in .454 Casull. He is, by far, not the fastest but he shoots accurately and is always considered "best in show"
  17. OK, I think I have to order a couple packs of moonclips, doing the measurements and get the guys working then
  18. If anyone has a machine drawing or blueprint of modification of S&W model 29 cylinder for moonclips, I would very much appreciate a copy or a link? Need measurements and if available description of how it is carried out. I have access to precision machinery and skilled operators. whizz
  19. Or anything else than 625, 610? If so, Pros and Cons? I might give it a try with a 29 prepared for moonclips and loaded with .44 specials. RogerT... surprised??
  20. I can't do it closer than 15 meters due to swedish safety regulations but will try it out at that distance as soon as I get to the range.
  21. Well it must have been some real big bore caliber cartridge in that one. I have shot a handgun chambered for .308 Win and the recoil was not even close to that. On the contrary it was quite manageable but it did hurt a bit for a while in my palm. Where do all those crazy weirdos come from and why can't they stick to aggressive knitting or some other less dangerous activities?
  22. OK I get it. You are lucky to have such nice ranges accessible. Here the environmentalists are doing what they can to shut down ranges at an incredible speed. You seem to have lots of nice shooting that we euro-guys can just dream of.
  23. Seems you are shooting at a target set up on top of a ridge. In my book that is a no-no as you are lacking backstop. Dunno about your rules but where I live that is prohibited from security reasons.
