  1. Hehe, regarding the hair, I have decided to let it grow while there's still some left... There is room for any number of wheelgunners in our club. You are welcome anytime. Then you will get your own wheelgunner shirt Conny
  2. Well I'm not quite sure how we have done but... I started out shooting revo at a cup in 2005. 7 matches between swedish and danish clubs shot annually. Soon enough RogerT and a danish revolvero joined the RSD. We kept on doing this and more and more shooters have joined. Nowadays we are usually between 8 and 12 wheelgunners at level III matches here. More people joining probably because they see how fun we have. Another thing that gives us a lot of hangarounds might also be our nice match shirts.
  3. Are you guys classified together with the rest of the worlds IPSC:ers or is it strictly USPSA? Conny
  4. Even in a small nation like sweden we have about 10-11 wheelgunners at the nationals. And numbers are rising...
  5. The action on my 29-3 which I use feels right now even better than the action on my late 625-3 ever did. Rust? Has never been an issue on any of my blued guns. Of course they need a bit more caretaking but that does not bother me. Wearing of the blueing I just consider normal on a weapon which is used frequently. Heard a saying once: "Beware of the man with a worn gun, he might know how to use it." Of course, in my case you may replace worn with ugly and put the emphasis on "might".
  6. I ended up 84.78% at our nationals which I have to be pretty satisfied with. Shootin' a 29-3 when the rest of the shooters between 100% and 80% where running 625:s and 625 JM:s. Maybe I could have closed in towards 90% with a 625 but that is merely speculation. The truth is probably that I also have to practise to become better...
  7. Well pskys2, I am definately not in need of a FO sight as I am used to the Patridge type and like it. Been thinking of getting a 625 but after seeing what happened to a buddy at the nationals I would never spend the money on a NEW S&W. The ratchets in his brand new 625 got so beat up after less than 1K rounds that it stopped working. He had to borrow another gun during day 2. Seems S&W has got serious quality problems. That is what made me start looking for a 25-2. Are the 25-2:s from around 1980 reliable?
  8. That is exactly the case. I do use the 29 with full moon clips and .44 Russian. The floppyness makes the reloads quite a bit less fast compared with a 625. When it works, it works equally fine but when it starts bugging... man, I can become pretty ehhh, upset. My reloads are on average about 3.5 sec with the 29 and were between 2.2 and 2.5 when I used a 625. I shoot pretty accurately with the 29 but need to reduce spent time on each stage. One part is speeding the reloads but also split time. During the swedish nationals I had 197 A, 29 C and 4 D. No Mike and no NS. I think my result would have been better if I had reduced split times with 0.1 sec and balanced the number of A:s and C:s to 65-35 instead of 85-15. Have to do some calculating I think. Might just get myself a 25-2 as the minor drawbacks seems to be of no concern to me. I do not shoot lead and the trigger pull on my 29 is pretty OK which would be the same with the same work done to a 25, I think. Thanks for the input guys!
  9. Are there any particular drawbacks to consider when thinking of using a 25-2 instead of a 625 in IPSC? I like the 6" barrel length and of course the "looks" of a blue gun. Right now I am using my model 29 but feel the reloading would be much smoother with a .45 ACP. Conny Forsberg
  10. The repair has now been thoroughly tested during the swedish nationals. Not a single failure to ignite in 12 stages and 2 days of shooting.
  11. This is what a friend of mine uses for IPSC. To the left 38 Colt, 200 grains copper plated Archipelago .357 To the right .45 ACP The .38 Colt has a velocity of around 865 fps shot from a 6" S&W 686. PF 172 - 175. Note the bottom of the 200 grain bullet 2/5 way down the .38 Colt case. Edit: The powder is N350.

I would never dare to run a bottomfeeder in a match again. I remember what broke in my wheelie after the last time...
  13. One of these days I will attend a big match in the US, but right now it will do with the Swedish Nationals If you are going to Gothenburg first weekend of september I will be more than happy to show it to you... Took it to the range today 50 rounds speedy and also really slow DA shootin'. With and without moonclips. Not a single failure to fire. Then I also had the Wolff, slightly reduced, RP mainspring. The action is very slick and light. Feels good to be able to shoot my own gun at the nationals.
  14. The kind that is semi flexible even after hardening.
  15. Well ahem yeah, some dremelizing was done... I actually took the shank piece of a drill bit and put it into my dremel. Full speed ahead and gently touching a lapidary diamond disk also rotating. Measuring with even intervals until the right diameter was reached. Then onto the sanding and polishing. I used to be a professional lapidary and diamond cutter long time ago. Glad I did not get rid of all equipment. Everyone needs a Dremel
  16. Thanks guys here are the latest news on this matter. After getting home from work today no time was wasted. I just picked up some hand tools and stuff I thought I would need and started working on that revolver. Three hours later a new trigger stud had been manufactured from a somewhat oversize drill bit. A 1/8" deep hole drilled where the old stud had been located. Some grinding and polishing of the new stud and also some lenght trimming and the task was completed. Reassembled the revolver and VOILA! A trigger with less sideways play than ever before. I have become friends with the wheelie gods again. The revolver functions very well and feels extra cool now that I have fixed the thing myself. Tomorrow I will try it out at the range and hopefully the misfires are nothing but bad memories. Wait! I can hear a song... It's James Brown! "I feel good...."
  17. When loading match ammo I always use a hand seating tool and do like this: 1. Clean primer pocket with hand tool. 2. Seat primer to bottom. 3. Twist case 1/2 turn and seat again. Match ammo bullets are also weighed separately and bullets out of specs are put aside for practising. Cases of the same brand are also used.
  18. As I live in Sweden sending to S&W is not an option with all the paperwork involved in that kind of operation. I will try to do it myself during this week. I do not care about the blueing right now. Get it to work properly is my main concern. A working, butt ugly gun is more worth to me than one that looks good and is unreliable. If this does not work out, my good friend RogerT has offered to lend me his 625 during the nationals as he is not going. ConnyF
  19. Last week at a level III match my model 29-3 began to have misfires occasionally. Day two i had 4 failures to ignite and as usual at the most annoying moments during a course of fire I thought it had to do with the primers, Winchester LP. This week I loaded some ammo with a new type of bullet and as I had to run them through cronograph before the upcoming nationals I also decided to try new primers. Made cartridges with Federal and PMC primers. Running some through the crono worked fine but as we started some serious training afterwards the misfires started again. This time worse than ever. Three FTF in one clip. The misfires always had a wery light dent in the center of the primer. My first thought was something wrong with the moonclips but got the same results when shooting without clips. Got home and called my good friend RogerT. We had some discussions about what could be the cause and I decided to strip the gun down totally and check everything out. Thats when I found out that the trigger stud had snapped. Hopefully I will have it repaired before the nationals. It must be some bad karma hanging since I had the bottomfeeder itch. Prolly have to ask forgivness from the wheelie gods again...
  20. Last time I heard anything about Spook he was going to Production Division. Since then not a sound. SPOOK!!! Stop lurking and give us a sign... It is dangerous to upset the wheelie gods. I went to PD for two months but was forced back to RSD (not very reluctant) by all bad karma and evil stuff they cast upon me. Now I can feel the good side of the force again.
  21. Here are my current grips. Modified Hogue anatomic whiz-o-weird-grips. They are clad with plastic pudding and then covered with silicon carbide grit. As a southpaw the swelling at the right side (which gives fantastic grip for the palm of the support hand) is a bit problematic when shooting weak hand. Of course you have to place the hand at the right position after reloading but it is hard to place it wrong. Right now I'm modifying some wooden grips to make some inbetween JM's and Hogue monogrips. I really like to experiment
  22. Know what you mean revchuck. I tried out PD for 2 months and realized that bottomfeeders are too jumpy to be trusted Once a wheelgunner always a wheelgunner. Got rid of the CZ and picked up another wheelgun. Btw a historical event took place in sweden last weekend. For the first time ever there was a squad with only wheelies at a level III match. RSD is growing steadily in scandinavia right now.
