  1. What a cool match. SCSA and donating to toys for tots........good idea
  2. Use The fiber optic dawson front, they show up well for old eyes and the Warren rear that has the top corners cut away concave. The rears allows more light to get to your eye and allows you to see tagets around both sides of the sight depending on distance and size.
  3. The carver mount is big and cumbersome. Go with the SJC mount...it is much smaller and lighter also with it you won't need a modified holster as you do with the Carver mount.
  4. If You are shooting an outlaw match you can do whatever you want....but when shooting a sanctioned match why is it so hard to follow the rules. Photoracer the match at old bridge NJ is not a SCSA sanctioned match. SC is foolish to even deal with this guy. He adds unsanctioned stages (zig zag) and skips stages he doesn't want to use, the stages are not set up correctly, you can't use a cone over 24". This guy doesn't report scores yet he calls it a regional Tier 3 match. and SCSA even advertises it for him. It is not a Steel Challenge match.
  5. I have a Zev heavy magwell and slug on my G17 Gen4
  6. No there aren't any on the clock reloads and if you have to it's already to late on that run. SC is 4 plates and a stop plate. Hopefully only 5 shots. Magwells do help locate your hand better for some people....keep it forced high on the grip.
  7. Look at GT Targets. Call him and talk to him he has a bunch of targets that aren't on the web site that are mostly for police use...sounds like what you are looking for.
  8. The Problem is that SCSA is owned as a business. So is USPSA, so if they want to run the business into the ground they can. The membership only has a say if they can force ownerships' hand somehow. The membership is really nothing more than customers.
  9. any system is better than none, but they need to also implement it for all of the rimfires. The 22's have become very popular and a great way to get kids involved earlier
  10. USPSA refuses to run SCSA, and refuses to sell it to someone that wants to grow and run it..........Oh I see the logic in that
  11. Finger nail polish remover that does not have acetone will work with out damage worked great on mu Rudy's
  12. start using good spray paint instead of a roller and you won't have to worry about ever cleaning off the nasty mess that roller leave. and they aren't still wet at the end of the day.
  13. first hand experience yes. With the targets facing the shooter You can control 99 percent of the bullet fragments. Because usually the targets are slightly tilted toward the shooter. The edge shots are the only hits that may go where you don't want. By placing 2 45 degree angles at the base of the target you will send whole but deformed bullets off to either side. If it is just cold rolled steel it is soft and you will deform the leading edge and get unpredictable directions of fragments. For the low cost of 2x4's why take the chance. Shooting steel targets is inherently dangerous why tilt the odds in favor of a bullet returning to the shooter or a bystander. Any steel not perpendicular to the shooter raises the chance of bullet ricochet.
  14. This isn't as good an idea as it initially may sound. Angle iron is soft and will dent or shoot through. Once you get any dents in it the bullets will be able to come back at you. After you shoot steel long enough you will realize that it happens enough without adding other ways to unwittingly cause bullets to come back at you. Just use the 2x4 with the wide side facing you. If you shoot through the short side face the bullet will do more damage then if you shoot through the long edge face.
  15. Don't buy the VZ OP II if you don't want an aggressive grip. I love mine. If you don't get a good grip out of the holster the op II's will seat itself in your hand on the first shot because of the angle on the back half of the grips. I think they are an excellent pattern and they do wear off the high points with use. I use them on 4 different guns. as far as price...really.... they are the least expensive modification you can do to a competition gun. We spend any where from 2000 to 5000+ on open guns so 60 to 80 bucks to change grips isn't a big deal to me.
  16. This is what we do here in PA at the SCSA matches and at the Steel league matches. It keeps the matches moving along....2 people go down and paint and at least 2 people pick up brass for the last shooter. That way the next shooter can come to the line and be ready to handle as soon as the painters and pickers get out of the way. It works well when everyone on your squad is willing to help
  17. Bob the height is set with a sight level set at 60" height, from the shooting box. When you look at a stage that is set you should be able to swing thru the center of each target without changing elevation....except for pendulum
  18. sounds like the load is to light for the recoil spring
  19. If you are going to be doing any rifle shooting at the target you have to be careful how they are cut. The targets that GT sells are either for pistol only or the rifle targets can be shot with both. Speed kills and rifle velocities do a lot more damage to targets that are not waterjet cut and have any welds.
  20. OP I had the same issues with just a small percentage of cases not going through a case gauge. The problem was the case not being sized down far enough. Changed to an EGW under size sizing die and those problems disappeared. The Dillon die won't size the case down quite far enough.
  21. Now its time to further up the food chain.
  22. Bob Carver has the RTS2 in stock. He just got them back from Cmore after the latest modification. which started 3 weeks ago according to Cmore. Spoke to both Yesterday
  23. You just need to test it and see if your barrel will lead or not. Some do and some don't. the coated bullets are usually better
