  1. I like the whole grip better on the gen 4's than the 3's. But I thought I was in a minority when I bought mine. I don't use the grip pieces as I have small hands and the naked gen 4 fits me just fine...better than the 3. A lot of this is just shooter preference and even that will change with experience.
  2. I have the set from tactrainers. I think it's an excellent way to practice when it's to damned cold to play outside
  3. Yup tried that for the last couple of days. No response yet
  4. anyone have a phone # for BAM. I can't find it on their site. Please PM me
  5. Not sure who won yet but Sousa was so scared that he didn't even show up. The old man was pretty fast and probably won but results aren't out yet.
  6. Oh great!!! Whatcha bringing??? It's a better mousetrap.....Just a slightly different version of a 10-22, You might like it. It's a bit lighter than yours...not sure yet if i like this setup, it may go thru future modifications....LOL Look for the axiom stock online, Thats what I used. with some minor tweaks. To bad I can't yet shoot as fast as you and Karl.
  7. Hey Sousa but does it run......Sousa is really fast with it...but not quite fast enough for some old target maker....See ya this Sunday with my new one.......
  8. Looks like no one wants to give up their secret weapon.....
  9. The lighter weight guns flip more. The lighter the weight makes it easier to start moving and get it stopped easier. The faster transition the better. Now what is easier to move ...? ...a gun that isn't flipping in recoil or one that runs flat. Just because it doesn't recoil as much as a center fire doesn't mean you won't gain from a proper comp. I have compared the same gun on target at 12 and 20 yds to see what the difference is. It's not difficult to see the difference in how far the dot moves....or doesn't. It may not matter in the bottom of c class but the higher you get the more those tenths of a second matter.
  10. The reason many shooters think comps don't help a rimfire is because they aren't using one made for the application. 2 problems with 22 comps...they need to be cleaned easily and they need to utilize the relatively small amount of gas. Most comps can't be cleaned easily with out removing them. I don't remove mine and it is clean in about 5 seconds....If You look at the TACCOM design and make a comp similar but don't put the 5/8 hole all the way through. Then turn it so all of the gas is exhausted straight up...it works great. The reason they are quick to clean is you can use a 5/8 end mill to clean it in seconds. If you ever shoot a lot of falling steel it makes a huge difference getting to the next shot....I think it makes a big difference in steel challenge also........Some people will never believe because they refuse to do the work to prove or disprove a theory. The comps that expel the gas every where might look cool but they don't work...keep the front of the barrel down and the gun running flat.
  11. To be honest...don't build a 22/45. Build a Buckmark. Less expensive and a far more reliable gun. Go On Gun Broker and buy a pre 2001 gun that has the older style slide and firing pin assy. Been down that road already with multiple Rugers....The biggest failing with the Ruger is the magazines wear fast and the load assist button on the side of the mags hags up. If you go down the Ruger road buy the Majestic arms mags at the start or you will be frustrated and buy them later and spend good money twice. The Ruger mags just don't hold up for a speed shooter.
  12. Yup if you saw it else where for less you should have jumped on it. You can always ask to pay less but don't get offended when the seller says no. If everyone else thinks its a fair price but you....well either pay it or walk away, and like the man said the price is right.....man this thread has me laughing
  13. Thanks Herm. I didn't notice that. Looks like he is in business sooner than he thought.
  14. I spoke with the guy that is supposedly going to make the Bully barrels, I can't remember his name. I think he is in Ohio. It didn't sound like it was going to happen any time soon.
  15. I understand new shooters not changing from rimfire to centerfire/draw, but you are giving up time by not using the low ready aiming point to your advantage. Like a good shooter I know say "If your not in the top few you are just making a donation"
  16. It sold for $6025, No reach around required...the guy who bid and won just screwed himself.....There is always one person that thinks it's worth it or has the money to piss away.
  17. Not sure which is the cheapest, prices I have seen range from about $500.00 to about $750.00. Dependent on options. There is only one real Vendor for the Texas Star, GT Targets. I say that because he owns the rights to build and sell it. He purchased those rights from the original designer of the Texas Star. It is the best design and well worth the money. Why give your money to some one who has stolen the design and doesn't have the honor to do business the right way. WWW.gttargets.com
  18. I used to load the .260 on a xl 650. not an issue. But if you want very accurate powder drops you may need to switch to a redding powder measurer and manually throw each powder drop. You can set it up right on the tool head. All depends on the powder you want to use and just how much accuracy you are expecting. Try the dillon powder measurer first.
  19. It could also be that you are not seating the mag until the release locks. If you push it in and don't feel the click and hear it then it's not locked in. This happens most on a reload with a closed slide on full mags because then it takes extra pressure to get the mag seated.
  20. all the time, this crap of working for a living really gets in the way of shooting. I really need to hit the lottery so I can devote all of my time to shooting. Good thing my wife enjoys shooting too....
  21. That is a *thumb rest [generic]*. Some like them some don't. I don't use one because I push the left side down with it and get low hits. You will probably have failure to eject with the mount that came on the gun if it is new. Either change to a Cheeley right angle mount that also moves the dot back further. or a cheely RTS mount that also moves the dot back some and replace the slide rider with a RTS. The orig mount often causes cases to be knocked back into the open chamber area causing jams and stovepipes. The trigger job is purely preference. The slide rider CMore that came with the gun is a better way to start because you can change the dot modules to what ever size you want to try. Let the trigger break in some then see if you still think it could be better. With the dot mounted the way it is ...it may get dirty quickly. Do not let that powder residue on the lens after you finish shooting. You may even have to clean it during the match. Get some lens pens. Good luck Ilike my Steel mastersince I figured out the issues......
  22. I received a reply From John Amidon (DNROI) USPSA. He thanked me for pointing out the oversight and they adjusted the rules. Now it is illegal to holster a gun with a thumb safety without first engaging the safety.
  23. I just bought a steel master from Brazos, My 2nd one. I had them do the trigger and grip stippling and had it in hand in 2 weeks. I immediately removed the mount and changed it to a Cheeley 90 degree mountand changed the dot to a 12 moa. I tested loads in it sighted it in then practiced 6 stages friday, shot a 7 stage steel match saturday and another 5 stage steel match on sunday. So it's only got about 1000 rnds thru itso far. Not one ftf or fte or jam of any kind. The first steelmaster I had was constantly jamming as the cases would hit the original mount for the dot and fall back into the chamber area. The quickest way to solve it is either a 90 degree mount for the slide rider or a Cheeley RTS mount that sets the mount in the correct spot and gets the dot back further from the comp. I like the 90 degree mount better so far for the bigger glass area and the ability to change dot sizes and intensity. Buy the 140 mags with the blocks to 10 rnds. The 126's are much harder to get into the gun on a speed reload. when you buy the mags get the 38sc followers and try them. one less thing to move in the mag with out the spacer and my gun feeds as well from either set up. I am told that a lot of 9mm shooters run the 38 sc followers instead of the 9mm follower with the spacer.
