  1. TMC - thanks. If I get the complete rifle do I still need the SOCOM mag block? Herky - do you have a BM 9mm?
  2. I belong to two gun clubs. The one closest to me doesn't allow you to shoot rifle caliber rounds in the pits, but will allow pistol caliber carbines. As a result, I'm considering a 9mm AR for practice. I'm considering an Oly 9mm that uses modified Sten mags: Oly 9mm I can get a flattop complete rifle for $779 or the upper for $559. Questions: * Are these rifles reliable? * Where do you get extra mags; how do you modify them and are they expensive? * If I buy just the upper, will it run with my 5.56 lowers? I've heard things about having to change the buffer and hammer, etc . . . * Is there a better choice other than the Oly in the same price range? RRA? Thanks. Sorry for all the questions but it seems like there's a lot of vodoo involved in 9mm ARs.
  3. You have several options. If this is a "garage-engineered" trigger job, you may want to get a smith to check it out. Messed up trigger jobs often lead to doubling or worse down the road. You could also get the spring kit Mike mentioned. If you're running light springs, you can also cut off the "tail" of the hammer. This lightens the hammer and makes it more reliable with light springs. Look at the JP lightened hammer on their web sight and make your hammer look the same.
  4. Most are silly, but tonight I actually got some works of wisdom from my fortune cookie that I cracked open after chowing my Mongolian beef: "It's up to you to create your own adventures."
  5. I was dry firing mine today. It's much easier to reload than my Glocks. Also, the stock mag release works fine - no extension need. YMMV. Does S&W sell the extended slide release?
  6. The vast majority of patent attorneys have Engineering degrees from undergrad. An attorney and an engineer - that's some major geek points!
  7. Steve - You have some bad luck man. As soon as you shake that off (and you will), you'll kick some butt with your skills. Congrats on the strong finish despite going Minor. Footnote: Taran Butler went Minor at the A6 3G two years ago. He still won. thanks Cy, hey, you shooting area6 3 gun? I have it on my travel plans, maybe we can squad up! I had fun down there last year. Steve - yes - let's squad up at A6. I'll also be at Ft Benning. You?
  8. +1 I like Steve Irwin too, but a snake in my yard will soon see the mean end of my son's little .410.
  9. Few four year degrees actually get you a good job. Exceptions are nursing and some engeneering degrees, etc. Business, Accounting, Finance and Economics are good general degrees IMO. For advanced degrees, an MBA from a good (or regionally recognized) school is an excellent choice. A law degree can open doors - even outside of the legal arena. Some schoools now offer a combo MBA/Law degree - which would great degree IMO.

  13. I just picked up a used Apple PowerBook G4. I'm looking for a reference book for iLfe 06. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  14. Interesting and timely post Hop. I haven't shot in three months and I know wht you're feeling. I've also decided not to shoot in July or August anymore. It's just too damn hot and I'm getting too old to put up with that heat. Good luck and try not to over-think it.

    Divorce

Now that's got to get expensive. Next time, just find a woman who hates you and buy her a house!
  17. Hungry for a two liter bottle of ass whuppin! Few people like Chuck or really respect him as a fighter. I like him. Too bad he and Silva won't get to fight, but I'd love to see him smash Tito again What's everyone got against Chuck?
  18. +2 Get the one with the built in Weaver rail. You can throw a cheap red dot on it and blast away.
  19. Cool vid. Is that a Berretta?
  20. I did the same thing. Got stung about 6 times. It hurt for about 4 hours.
  21. When tweaked from factory specs, all uppers will not work with all lowers.
