    Goodbye 1911s

If Glock would make their frames with adjustable grips (like the M&P or the new alloy frames for the Glock by CCR), then they would own an even larger piece of the market.
  2. Neither the XD or M&P sit as low in the hand as the Glock. I think the M&P sits lower than the XD.
  3. The only way to tell for sure is to keep shooting the rounds with your shorter OAL. Your prior OAL is slightly long for a Glock, but not terribly so. I load to 1.125 OAL. IMO, you should fully load your mags in practice (at least most of the time). Otherwise, you don't know if they run.
  4. +1 Only buy Glock factory mags. CDNN
  5. I don't think so. All new products have teething issues. The Glocks did as well, especially the .40 models. I've personally had two Glock slides crack on the breach face. However, if I had to only pick one pistol to own, it would be a Glock. IMO, if Glock came out with interchangable grips/backstraps (like the M&P), the sales of both XDs and M&Ps would take a big hit.
  6. Mark, I did try the pencil test, but I found the pencil test very inconsistant with the M&P, Glock and XD. Maybe it's because all I can find is an old pencil with a chewed-up eraser
  7. With my curiosity up, I took a stock Glock striker spring and put it in my M&P. I then loaded one round (that's all I can shoot without alarming the neighbors). I intentionally didn't push the primer (Winchester small pistol) all the way down (i.e. a high primer). It popped the primer with no problem. Obviously one round doesn't mean it works consistently. A couple of observations: * the M&P spring seems to be heavier than the Glock spring, but the Glock spring is longer. * I did not trim the Glock spring and it fit fine. * If you lose the M&P spring retainer cups, the Glock cups work too.
  8. Will the Glock striker spring work on the M&P? In the big M&P thread I read about guys experimenting with the Wolf reduced power Glock striker spring in the M&P. I know that Wolf makes an extra power Glock striker spring.
  9. I have both. They're both good platforms and it just depends on what you like better. IMO, both will need sights and a trigger job (like every other stock gun). SA's policy of not selling most parts for the XD is a turn off to me.
  10. Call S&W. They have excellent customer service.
  11. Use the non-extended version. I take pliers tighten up the angle as well.
  12. When the mag isnt loaded or loaded or both? It's most notable with the mags empty. The follower sits up higher and helps force the mag out.
  13. Also try the newest mags with the #7 followers. They make the mag shoot out of the gun.
  14. Yesterday I shot my M&P in a match for the first time. I have Dan Burwell’s rear sight, stock front sight and Dan’s 3.5# trigger job. I felt like I shot less aggressively than usual because I have very few rounds behind the gun and it was my first match with it. I ended up second, shooting 98.3% of a local Production GM. I didn’t shoot with that GM, so I’m not sure whether he had a good match or not. Reloading the M&P is much easier for me than the Glock. I didn’t bobble a reload all day. Since reloading is a big part of the Production game, I’m sure this helped my score. Dan’s rear sight is excellent, but I felt slightly handicapped with the fat factory front sight on the longer shots. Long shots are a strength of my game with the Glock, but I struggled with the M&P on the multiple 20+ yard shots we had in the match – shooting several Ds. Dan’s trigger job makes the M&P comparable to my Glocks and a pleasure to shoot. My factory trigger sucked. Personally, I would not use it for carry or competition with the factory trigger. The M&P was 100% reliable. Overall, I was pleased with the M&P and plan to shoot it in Production for a while.
  15. Yep, I'm currently using a Wolf steel GR for the Glock and a 12# spring. It works fine, except that the 12# spring seemed too light. I may try a 15# spring. Over on the M&P forums, the word from S&W is that the factory recoil spring is 10#. That seem impossible to me. The stock spring seems MUCH heavier than my Wolf 11# and my 13# ISMI spring. I'd guess it's 16-18#.
  16. I had Dan Burwell do a trigger job on my M&P 9mm. I've had it back for two weeks, but just shot it today. Many poeple seem to like the M&P stock trigger, but I don't like it at all. Dan's trigger job made it a whole new gun for me. I haven't put a gauge on it, but I'd guess it to be about 3.5# and the reset is significantly shortened.

    I Don't Believe It

I hope Glock jumps on the "replaceable back-strap" bandwagon (a la M&P).
  18. Does CR Speed have a mag pouch insert that fits the M&P mags? I have two inserts for mine that fit the Glock and XD - but neither works for the M&P mags.
  19. Does S&W sell extra grip inserts? I looked at the web site, but didn't see anything.

    M&p 45

I don't understand the utility of a thumb saftety on this type of pistol.
  21. Congrats and here's to your perseverance!
  22. Here are some DIY instructions. I might even translate them if I have more time next week. But looking at the photos might help some. http://www.toiminta-ampujat.fi/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=566 t tommi thanks!
  23. I've tried one and I agree. I just don't want to spend the $80
