    What to read?

Thanks Flex. So what book did you read back in 2002?
  2. That's what I'm wrestling with. With jacketed bullets, it's tough to make major with the common Titegroup loads I've seen posted out here. Coated bullets will do it a lot easier. I just picked up a bottle of N320 to see if I can work up a softer shooting load that makes major by a comfortable margin. I've got a KKM barrel that seems to run a tad slower than the stock for me. I went with the G22 because it was a cheap way for me to start playing in Limited (factory refurb gun I bought for like $365 with 3 mags.) I'm wondering if I should have held out for a G35, but I do like the overall feel of the G22 in my hands. I used to shoot LTD with a G22. I like to run around a 169-170 PF just to be on the safe side. With the G22, I ran a 180 Zero JHP over 4.7 grains of Titegroup. I can drop the load down to 4.4 grains of Titegroup with my G35. That load is noticably softer.

    What to read?

I know I'll get all sorts of replies like - "Zen can't be captured in words, so there is no book" - but here's my question anyway. Is there a simple, short book on Zen for a beginner? Sort of like a "Zen for Dummies?"
  4. I think you should use whatever works for you. Only you can answer that question. I also believe that you must try it in a match in order to decide. I read a good quote the other day that went something like this: "Freedom finds a man the moment he is no longer concerned with the impression he is making or about to make."
  5. Funny pic. Is that where you do your heavy thinking?
  6. Joe, You're welcome to borrow mine and test it. Let me know when you're back in the ATL.
  7. I shoot a G17 in Prod, but a G35 in LTD. The sight radius is not an issue for me. The reason I shoot a G35 in LTD is because it's a lot easier to make major with the 5". It's not an issue shooting Prod/minor. YMMV
  8. Chris, The front sight is ~.125 wide. The rear notch is ~.120 wide. I don't want to spend the $ on a new front sight right now. I'll open the rear notch up to ~.140 - .150.
  9. My guiderod has no hole drilled for the paperclip. For the other Spartan owners: does your GR have a hole?
  10. FYI A S&W rep told me that the stock recoil spring in the M&P 9mm is 17#. He also said that the Wolf springs and guide rods for Glock work in the M&P.
  11. sasquatch981 and Shrek1974, Do you guys have access to a stock Glock striker spring? If so, it would interesting to see if you get the same failure rate with your rifle primers with the Glock spring in the M&P. I'd try it but I don't have any small rifle primers.
  12. I put a stock Glock striker spring in my M&P and shot 300 rounds of my reloads. It ignited all primers (WSP).
  13. I put about 250 rounds through my Spartan today. Once I got the rear adjustable sight dialed in, I could make upper A/B (head) shots offhand consistantly at 25. No failures of any kind. Ammo was 230 grain, FMJ Win White Box. This one's a keeper. The only things I plan to do are: * open up the rear sight, * use a lighter recoil spring, and * add some type of small mag well (the hole looks small after shooting double stacks for so long). I forgot how much .45 ammo costs and the amount of recoil with stock springs. I picked up my brass and need some .45 dies now
  14. Yep - he did show some class. Except for the second round, this fight wasn't even close. I don't think Tito will give Chuck any more trouble about his belly I hated to see Griffin lose. I can't wait to see Cro Cop stir up the heavyweight division.
  15. Chuck TKO'ed Tito in the third!
  16. I ordered the pay-per-view. I'll update the thread after the fight. I hope Chuck knocks him into 2007!
  17. I went over to cpty1's house today (www.cpwsa.com). Chris just got some Spartans in and had one sitting out. I could not believe the price for this pistol with these extras and fit and finish. I had no intention of buying a gun today, but since I don't have a 1911, I had to buy it! BTW - the frame is stamped "Armscor". My trigger pull is clean and crisp at 5#.
  18. Neither the XD or M&P sit as low in the hand as the Glock. I think the M&P sits lower than the XD. TRP- I didn't say that the M&P sits too low in the hand. I said it sits lower than the XD but not as low as the Glock. I wish it sat lower.
  19. My best tip is to send it to Dan Burwell (on the forum). Dan does an excellent trigger job for $50. BTW - out of the box, my trigger was mucho crappy.
  20. Paul, Please let use know how this works out.
