  1. Is the mount partially forward of the flattop?
  2. I guess the Warne rings aren't that pricey after all
  3. I respectufully disagree with this statement and I also don't believe there's meaningful equipment race in Prod. I've shot Dave S's G34 and it's stock, except for the guiderod, springs and sights. I've felt some Angus-modified triggers and, while the SA stage is light, the reset is long. If you want to go spend $ on tweaking your Prod gun - then fine - it's your choice. You're looking for a hardware fix for a software issue. Part of the fun of this sport is messing with your set-up within the rules. Making the rules more strict will lessen gun diversity because more people will likely gravitate to the gun that's best suited - straight from the factory. If you beat me, it's not because you had a lighter trigger or Bomars melted into your slide. Can the rules be clarified - YES. Do the rules need major changes - NO.
  4. Although I no longer shoot IDPA, I tend to agree with this. In some ways, IDPA SSP rules are MORE liberal than USPSA Production. Don't borrow from their messed up holster/mag pouch rules though!!
  5. Wow. Having her own gun in the first place would have made things easier - but WOW!
  6. I use Warne QD rings and put both rings to the shooter-side of the adjustment knobs. This works well eliminates the need for an extender. I really like the Warne rings - they're a little pricey, but VERY solid.
  7. True. He could sell the original barrel and stock and offset much of the cost, though. I'd buy it - sell it at a profit - and then buy one ready to go from Benny Hill I love my M1S90, but all Benelli parts are WAY overpriced IMO.
  8. I had a full dust cover/slide 5" Edge. I usually shoot a G22 in Limited, so the Edge felt like a brick. I sent the Edge to Benny and he cut stirrup cuts in the slide, a lightening cut in top of the slide and cut back the frame. The work is excellent and it really lightened/sped up the gun. It's still too heavy for my liking (I'm back to the Ltd Glock), but it's an awesome gun that's been 100% reliable.
  9. I shot my new 16" Oly 9mm upper today. I shot it with the Oly mag (modified Sten) and with the Hahn mag block and unmodified Sten mags. Both functioned 100%. I only shot it in the pits at 5-25 yards at steel and cardboard. It was a lot of fun to shoot. Thanks for your comments.
  10. Thanks Chris. Today, UPS delivered my new Oly 9mm flattop upper with a threaded 16" barrel. I also picked up a SOCOM mag block off of AR15.com and new Sten mags on the cheap from CDNN. I hope to shoot it this weekend and I'll post a review.
  11. + 2 for Kimberly. Give 'em hell!
  12. Skateboard tape is great, but it's not good for a carry gun if the tape contacts your skin.
  13. I really enjoy watching MMA. I watch the UFC on Spike most every Thurday. I watch the "free" Pride FC coverage on my cable - but it absolutely sucks! They almost never show the whole fight, but only show highlights. The prefight coverage is poor and they never provide good background on the fights or the fighters. The ring camera angles and work is sub-standard IMO. I know there are a lot of Pride FC fans out there - but you guys must be watching it on pay-per-view because the TV coverage sucks! One more weird thing: Frank Trigg with hair
  14. I have no first hand knowledge, but here's what I hear. The 9mm is a blowback design and has slighly more recoil pulse than a comped .223. This seems counter-intuitive, but the Beretta Storm I shot fits this description. You can comp a 9mm, but it has far less pressure than a .223 and a comp is not very effective. I'd be interested in hearing what others think on this issue.
  15. Thanks Mike. I'm looking for an AR platform for practice of 3 gun on pistol-distance stages. I've found an Oly 16 flattop upper and a mag block. After I get it I'll post a review. Cy
  16. Nice troll Cy. I always find it amusing how people who don't shoot IDPA like to interject themselves into IDPA threads. Slow TV night, I know. You guys need to read my post and settle down! It's a valid pont and what I take away from the observation are two things: 1. There's probably less difference between the games than many believe, and 2. The cream rises to the top, no matter what. YMMV P.S. Mark - switch to decaff man - really!
  17. It's interesting to note that the winners in SSP, CDP, ESP and ESR are all top USPSA shooters as well. No flame wars please. I'm not making any conclusions or bashing anything - it's just an observation.
  18. Very nice. What tackle, where caught, etc please!
  19. The Brazos web site states that his guns are set up to run factory ammo. My Edge runs factory and my Glock reloads (1.125 oal) 100%. I've also seen STI's that must have longer oal to function reliably.
