  1. Loading with Bullseye there was no difference on the chrono between large and small primers. No difference in the residue left on the brass.
  2. Times may be getting better, at least the clerks have stopped laughing for asking about .22.
  3. The problem in my area according to the Wal-Mart manager is that that same crew of 8-10 rednecks hovers around the sporting goods counter every night between 7-9 when the trucks come in and buy all the .22 that arrives. I have seen this bunch a couple of times, reminds you of buzzards circling waiting for something to die.
  4. Those in the photo look like nothing those I have swaged with my 600. The 600 I have came with two swage rods, large and small. Use the small swage rod for 9mm, 223 and others using small primers. You are not reshaping the primer pocket, only removing the crimp which is a very small ring at the open end of the primer pocket. Done properly you will not see a dramatic difference in the primer pocket.
  5. I had been shooting a M&P Pro 9mm in Production and bought a M&P 45 mainly just to have but started using it in a local steel match after being teased about the whimpy 9mm. Later on a whim shot it in a L10 match and found out I shot it better than the 9mm and been shooting L10 with it regularly ever since. So to answer the original question, why shoot L10? As others have said, I like it.
  6. Insured USPS packages will have to be signed for, that is not just for firearms shipments. Some FFLs do not like to receive shipments via USPS because they do not know the regulations that allow that. I have been an FFL dealer since 1983 and all to often I have to email or fax copies of the regulations to other dealers who insist it is illegal to ship firearms via the USPS.
  7. Just received an email alert from Midway that they have M&P40 magazines in stock. Limit two to a customer.
  8. You will not find it in writing on either's website but looking at some of the tags on the shipments I receive both wave this requirement for some of the major distributors and manufacturers
  9. UPS started the gouging in 1999 when they could not control the theft of firearms by their own employees primarily out of the Alexandria, Va area where InterArms was located. This is the news story given at the time. There is an error in the story where it states "The U.S. Postal Service is legally barred from shipping handguns.", this is not true. http://articles.latimes.com/1999/oct/08/business/fi-19934
  10. Shipping handguns via USPS FFL to FFL is legal, non licensees are not allowed by postal regulations to ship handguns even if shipping to a FFL.
  11. If there was a problem with Winchester brass we would be hearing similar stories from various sources. This seems to be an isolated case with some questionable practices such as buying reloads from an unknown source.
  12. Link to the article I referenced earlier. http://www.gunnuts.net/2010/05/10/reinventing-limited-10/
  13. I found Techwear difficult to deal with, ended up buying a shirt from someone else.
  14. There was a very good article a few years ago that made the case for renaming L10 to Production Major. Made good sense for a name change.
  15. I started out with a Stoeger 2000 to see how I liked the matches, I still like the Stoeger and so far haven't found a reason to buy another shotgun.
  16. I have been shooting three M&Ps in 9mm, 45 and 40 S&W exclusively over 18 months, averaging three matches per month. So far none of them have required any replacement parts.
  17. Thanks, 9mm is all I have been reading people complaining about. Was just curious. I shoot 9mm, 45 and 40 M&Ps and have not experienced any problems with them.
  18. At our local club those that reload haven't missed a match but the few who depended on factory ammunition haven't been seen in several months.
  19. I purposely have my bullet orders sent to my PO box for pick up rather than trouble my rural mail carrier with having to put up with extremely heavy boxes while running her route. She literally cannot lift them.
  20. Are these new barrels for all calibers or just 9mm?
  21. No problems with Speer. Federal tends to have difficulty when priming on my 650.
  22. Nik, excellent post. In reference to your question about CCW by competitors, I caught a competitor carrying concealed during a match a couple of years ago using an ankle holster . It left me with the impression that if a person is that paranoid they probably didn't need to be at the match in the first place. It bothers me that you would pass judgement on someone as being "paranoid" because they are carrying a concealed handgun. I guess it seems a bit hypocritical for someone competing in a practical pistol shooting event to consider a concealed weopon as a sign of paranoia. Most of the ones I meet like that are a bit paranoid so it isn't hard for me to pass judgment on them at all.
