  1. 5.2gr with 230gr Zero jacketed @ 1.250, out of a 5" 1911 was about 172PF. I didnt care for N320 and went back to WST.
  2. Another vote for Red Stitch. His stuff has personally tortured me on many occasions.
  3. No. Email Rick at rick@mrbulletfeeder.com and tell you need his PTX for a Hornady LNL what what caliber you need it in. He machines these up and usually has a few on hand. I can load 100 rounds in about 5 min. This is not trying to be blazing fast, just trying to have a good, quick, steady pace. YMMV Hope this helps.
  4. I have one on my LNL, along with the case feeder, making their "ammo plant" . Along with the Hornady bullet feeder. I only load 45ACP jacketed. Some observations: - It will take a little tweaking to get the wipers just right, to ensure only one bullets gets fed into the tube at a time, and right side up. - It will take a little adjusting of the plate and the tube, to optimize bullet feeding into the tube. - I put a couple of pieces of duct tape on the bottom of the hopper so that I could dump in over 200 bullets and not have them fall out when the collator is spinning. - I modded the collator to add two pieces of looped wire at the molded bumps. The bumps do nothing to ensure all the bullets get fed. This mod will ensure all bullets will get fed. - Use of the BF requires giving up a station. If you seat and crimp in separate stations and have a lockout die/powder cop, one will have to go. In my case, I could not get rounds to reliable gauge seat/crimp in same die, so the lock out die sits on the shelf. - The biggest, and most import thing that is required, IMHO, is to use the MRBF PTX with the Hornday powder drop. He machines them just for the LNL, and include a shoulder to ensure the bullet rests IN the case, and not on top of the flared case. This alone fixed my bullet tipping issue. After all this, I am very happy with it. They all require some tweaking. All depends on how much patience and time/money you are willing to spend. I wanted to keep mine all Hornday, or as best as I can. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=224770&p=2549290 https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_42/330605_.html
  5. I am very pleased with the FA dehydrator. I got it from Midway.
  6. It changes a lot. I can now losd 100 rnds in about 5-6 min. Now I just have to crank the handle and keep an eye on things. Whereas before I had to get a handful of bullets and pause to place the bullet. Plus my right arm and elbow was taking all the stress. Now I can hold onto the press with my left hand which relieves some of the stress and pressure ftom my right arm/elbow.
  7. Tried that. But that changes the amount of crimp and how well the rounds gage. For now, I will be using a re-purposed webcam and an old netbook. Tried the mirror, too hard to see the case.
  8. Put a fork in me, I am done. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot make the same quality ammo using a seat/TC die as I can with separate dies. I readjusted it (for the umpteenth time) using a factory load as a sample, loaded up 100 rounds, and still had 1 buckled case and 9 that wouldnt gage cleanly. I called RCBS and went through the setup with them. Afterwards they assured me that it was set up correctly, and that I could make the same quality ammo as separate dies. I loaded up 100 rounds and still had 10 that wouldnt gage cleanly. I went back to the separate dies, ran another 100 through, and they ALL gaged as they should. The setup for the foreseeable future: #1 - Hornady deprime/size #2 - Hornady powder drop with PTX (Mr Bullet Feeder) #3 - Hornady Bullet Feeder die #4 - Hornady crimp/seat die adjusted to only seat (1.240") #5 - Redding taper crimp (.4705") Now to work on a mirror/camera setup. Maybe I can talk Mrs. Claus into a 1050 next Christmas.
  9. Sounds like we need another group buy. I am disappointed with the VP, My cobbled together Lee primer filler works so much better.
  10. Ran a little experiment. Loaded 62 rounds with the RCBS seat/TC die in station 5: 1 - buckled 1 - showed slight crinkle, wouldn't pass Shockbottle gauge. 4 - no-go on the gauge Several wouldn't drop from the gauge by themselves. Loaded 46 rounds with the Hornady seat die in station 4 and the RCBS TC die in station 5: 1 - barely no-go on the gauge All rest dropped in and out of the gauge by themselves. I think I have my answer.
  11. Reloading on a Hornady LNL AP for 45ACP. This winter I got a Hornady bullet feeder and die, to complete my Ammo Plant. Got it all dialed in, except for the seat/crimp. Prior to the bullet feeder, I had been seating and crimping with separate dies (Hornady to seat and RCBS Taper Crimp to crimp), which had been working great for several years. In station 3 I have had the RCBS lockout die, which I really like and dont want to give up. I have been trying to get the RCBS Seat/TC die to work (so I can keep the Lock Out die), but I just cannot get it to seat and taper crimp without occasionally buckling a case or two. I'm using 230gr Zero bullets and mixed headstamp, I normally seat to 1.240 and crimp to .4705. The rounds always drop nicely in and out of the cartridge gauge when seating and crimping separately. I tried the newer Hornady seat/taper crimp die, but the crimp part of the die sticks on the case when lowering the round enough that I dont care to use it. I have re-adjusted and re-adjusted and re-adjusted the RCBS die to the point of wanting to throw it out the window. So I guess my options are to put up with lesser quality ammo and the occasional buckled round(s) so I can keep my Lock-Out die. Or seat and crimp separately and set up a mirror or a small camera to try and keep an eye on the powder. Or go back to hand feeding the bullets, keeping the lock out die and the seat and crimp dies separate. I need a drink, and a 6th station on this thing.
  12. I have a Replay XD 1080Mini, and looking for the optimum location. Where have you found the best place to mount it to get the best coverage? I have mine on the ear muff band, left side, above the ear, but I'm not pleased with the coverage.
  13. ^^ This. After spinning and dumping the brass onto a towel, I take the top lid off and pour the last bit of water into it, then empty in the yard. I then pour the bulk of the pins from the base of the separator back into the tumbler, then use the FA transfer magnet to gather the remaining pins from the base and transfer them into the drum. The brass gets rolled about in the towel, then placed in the FA dehydrator while the next batch gets tumbled. Rinse and repeat.
  14. Better than a 1911 in the safe. I carry one quite often, as there are times you cannot dress around your normal CC. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up at that price. Stuff some good HP rounds it it, and carry on.
  15. You might also try a Mr. Bullet Feeder PTX for the LNL. I just got mine. AWESOME!! See my post on this: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=224770&p=2549290
  16. I think I finally have this puppy whipped. I got the MR Bullet Feeder PTX for the LNL. Does the same thing as the Lyman M Die. So far just cranking some dummy rounds though for fit, it seems to work quite well. The bullets sit down in the mouth of the case and do not move. Strongly recommend this. Contact Rick at MBF and he will hook you up. About $30 incl shipping.
  17. Not applicable to 9mm, but I use the Lee U die for 45ACP. I got a lot of setback using mixed headstamp brass, and got tired of sorting brass for matches. The U dies fixed that issue.
  18. Sadly, I have to second Kaldor's comment. I am getting my Ammo Plant close, but it has taken quite some time, and requires a mix of dies, etc.
  19. Thanks. Problem with those seating dies is you have to crimp in a separate die, which I dont have a spare station. I'm going to try the Hornady CGND seat/taper crimp die see if it helps.
  20. Possibly resolved. I adjusted the RCBS powder through/Hornady powder drop, so it expands a little deeper, and readjust the RCBS taper crimp/seat die from scratch. So far so good.
  21. I've used this die setup for about a month or two hand feeding the bullets with no problems.
  22. Just on one side. Which is why I think due to crooked bullet. Crimp is just s taper, set at about .4695 - .4700.
  23. Recently added the Hornady bullet feeder and die to my LNL AP. I kept the RCBS lock out die, so I am having to seat/crimp in the same die. I have an RCBS seat/taper crimp die for this. I also switched to the RCBS powder through expander, which greatly reduced the bullet tipping. Now, I get one maybe two out of 100 that look like this. I believe it's due to the bullet not being completely straight when seated/crimped, but thought I would verify here. Looks like I may have more tweaking to do. EDIT: Given that the brass is mixed headstamp, I also wonder if maybe some of the brass might be a little thicker walled, and it's being seated and crimped at the same time, causing the buckle.
  24. The one I built from a lee primer tray. Takes about 20-30 sec per tube. My VP sits in the drawer.
  25. Here's another cool video. Not sure my range would like me dragging the treadmill out there.
