  1. The Steiner 1-5x24 seems to be an impressive scope. I have seen a few top shooters switch from the swaro to the steiner this year. I cant say much else as these shooters might have certain sponsorships in place. I have read reviews that say it has an awesome 1power. But $2600 seems like a lot. Mick you talked about ruggedness, is it more rugged than vortex hd just look at the weights or the optics.
  2. It would be cool if a company made a 1 piece ring style mount that clamped onto the tube on the prismatic
  3. I can't provide experience with the barrels. but AR stoner mags are not very great. I left them loaded for a couple of months and the bottom plate is bent out and very flimsy. I bought 2 of these mags at the height of the craze. they both lock back with one round still on the follower. but they function.
  4. I also saw some posts about the black hole weaponry barrels being very good. I purchased a 16" and an 18" Medium contour barrels. I have received and built up the 18" into a awesome 3gun set up. I have found that it doesn't shoot 75 bthp or 77 smk ammo very well which is what i have used in the past with great success. I think the barrel still needs some breaking in but at best I am getting about 1MOA with match loaded 69smk's. In Black hole defense I also fluted the barrel before I built and tested for base line accuracy. I also fluted a noveske afgan 14.5 with the same method. it still holds 3/4 or better MOA with 55fmj and pretty much anything else. I placed my order 5/16/13 and still have not received the 16" barrel direct from black hole. they must be busy.
  5. the vinci still hits like any other 12ga beneli. but lets just say it feels a little different.
  6. I am a lefty- I have gone so far as to use a left ejection sundevil upper. ambi safeties. norgon mag release is fairly hard to find when you are not looking right at it. the standard mag release spring makes the norgon require a very firm press. I am very tempted to drill and tap the button and add in a extended mag button like a 1911. I have no experience with the troy. Norgon is probably the most reliable but under stress can be hard to manipulate
  7. The overtravel stop on the rear of the mag hits the magwell. It can be filed down though Am I the only one having problems or are you guys using Gen 2 mags? All mags work in mine. gen 2 or gen 3. surefire 60 and usgi mags work fine.
  8. 400$ for a 1-12 power optic that is lighter weight than the vortex hd2.. why does no one use this scope?
  9. +1 for the vortex it is 99% of the famed swaro. the illumination toggle switch that the swaro uses is pretty neat but in terms of reticle anddot brightness and glass and fov and and and... the vortex holds it own when comparing it to the swaro(side by side) save some money and get the vortex 1-6
  10. looks promising, unless it has a trijicon tars price tag. cool.
  11. the center dot does not change across the magnification range. it is .5 @1x and .5 @2x and .5 @6x. buy the scope.
  12. On thursday i had the chance to compare my Vortex hd to a friends swaro while sighting in some guns. quality of the optics are too close to say that one is better or any worse than the other. the reticles are both very good, the swaro has a larger greenish yellow dot while the vortex although very bright is much smaller/sharp and its red. if i had to make the choice again i would take the vortex hd just because its within 99% of the swaro and about 1k$ less. - the focus adjust was a bit weird at first, i will admit. But read the directions on focusing the eye piece and it is very clear and a 1x power. it says to adjust the eye piece fast so your eye doesn't have time to adjust. * i have a tip- turn the adjustment a small amount and then look through the scope. better or worse, take your eye off of the glass and look and focus on something outside. adjust again and then look through the glass. better or worse, REPEAT.
  13. SVI used to make lefthand grips with the mag release on the other side. i have one if you are interested
  14. Found one in stock.. finally.. It shipped today! to anyone who uses the vortex--- 2" offset mount or 3"?
  15. Even if you don't agree with the replies you have received. The USPSA sets up these classifiers so that everyone in the country can shoot (within reason) the same exact classifier in order to compare yourself to other shooters around the country. Standing up takes time. staying seated got me a very good time. I think i set the bar pretty high....9.11 HF in production.
  16. I Think he is going for a lightweight build like he stated in his post initial post. But the list looks pretty good to me. 16'' is great with a mid length system. you dont NEED to have a Rifle length gas system...
  17. I agree versamax +1 for the load2/4 method. it has a extra long loading area for the 3.5'' shells, that make the second shell able to be loaded at roughly the same angle and thus being very smooth with the load 2. I can now get under 5 seconds all day long with load 2. If you want i have a carbonarms FSL 8 Pm me if you are interested.
  18. CZC is working on getting it approved for use in production, at least that is the hope.
  19. just one thing to think about, the mag button on the vm spins freely were as the benelli doesn't. so in order to utilize the squared over size mag buttons you will also need a solution to that problem (welding, Locktite did not hold)
  20. i think that this is a lion king quote...i dont know where you are getting chinese proverb or buddhist mumbling?
  21. i think that changes to the new 2013 rules will make people feel like they need to add all kinds of stuff to stay competitive.
  22. I would say that i am very lucky, I have missed 3 Tuesday night steel matches in the last 2 years. (weekly Match 95% steel) so 50ish matches plus every weekend there is at least 1 uspsa or 3gun match that i can make it out to. I would say most of us arizona shooters easily shoot 80 matches a year. at that is basically all at one club.
  23. why stand up? and if the classifier calculator is correct then i just Destroyed it. i shot a 9.11HF with production and a 8.72 with SS this sunday.
  24. I agree that the typically round count for rifle is less than 30, but like alaskapopo said some hoser stages can have 50+. rounds actually shot just depends on how much you want to shoot at a long range target before you give up and take the penalty. not to name names but i have seen a very seasoned shoot go through the majority of a beta mag from one shooting position on 2 targets less than 200yards. had to reload to the oh Sh#t mag and mop up the close stuff. make sure you know your holds and can make corrections on the fly.
  25. The Irons hold up. fit solid and adjustment is easy, i wouldn't want to say 200$ compared to the Duecks irons. just saying, They work.
