  1. How is it not fair? Its not like those who got in were special people! I mean, in the world of 3 Gun I am nobody at all. Not even a minor player who struts on the stage. It was pure random chance as to who got in and who didn't. So it was probably the fairest it could be. As a software developer, I understand problems. Yes, it likely cost 3GN some good will, but software problems happen. We can all understand that. But deciding to throw out all those who managed to persevere despite the issue is neither fair or sensible, and I think will cost them significantly more good will.
  2. The registration was a mess, definitely not a plus in 3GN's favor. But voiding the registrations of those who managed to get through the process, a double negative indeed. This is one camper who is not happy this morning!
  3. You can also use SketchUp and the templates for it. Its a great tool since you can look at a stage from all angles. But my shooters are complaining I am killing their printers with the dense full color images!
  4. Yougeyes, Thanks. The one document you posted that I went thru proved my point. Cancer rates were listed as 1.0 for NonSmokers, 1.02 for Cigar Smokers, and just short of 11 for Cigarette Smokers. So its over 10 times higher.
  5. Man, the amount of just plain wrong information in this thread is amazing. Some people really need to educate themselves. There is a massive difference between the cigarette industry and the cigar industry. The cancer rates for cigar smokers are insignificantly different from the general population, very different from the cigarette smokers. Getting Cigar Industry sponsorship makes sense.
  6. We did our first match with Practiscore this weekend. While I can't say we did not have issues and did not learn some things, for the most part everything worked and the issues were more management related than software related. We used 3 of the Goggle Tablets and one Kindle Fire (one on each squad) and an iPad as the master. We would have had scores and all up within hours of the match, but we had an issue with missing USPSA numbers (in the old system, not in Practiscore so we had to look them up) and then a personal issue which pulled the MD out of town. Overall, I think it worked well. Next month it will work better as we solve the management issues.
  7. I know the pain, Muncie. I just turned down a lucrative job offer in NJ after considering the ramifications.
  8. Not sure how NY shooters are dealing with it, but have you seen the change USPSA made.... (or is making) "In jurisdictions where competitors are restricted by law to maximum magazine capacity, the maximum capacity allowed in the contest, per division, will be the lesser of said law limitations or division limitations. Individuals exempt from the law restrictions must still comply with this section. Any such limitations must be made known to all competitors by the Match Director/Range Master before the start of the match." So my reading of that rules says that basically the MD of the 2014 New York Run and Gun Championship can declare all Divisions to be limited to the NY maximum (7rds, 10rds?). Now this makes sense in a couple of ways ... keep out of state shooters safe from predatory law enforcement, and keeps in state shooters on a level playing field (not shooting Open 10 vs Open 30).
  9. I had a similar issue. Found it was me not the gun. If I remember correctly I was not letting the trigger completely reset.
  10. Should bigger matches have "themes"? Some matches you always see themes "2012:A Shooting Odyssey" ,"Back to the Future", etc. Other matches are just a collection of stages. Do you prefer one over the other? Does it matter?
  11. I don't think we should completely do away with the slots. But I do think that at some point the match should become an "open" entry match. Use the slots to make sure those who have earned entry to the Nationals have a locked opportunity, then open the match for the rest of us.
  12. Does anyone have a stage or stage template in Sketchup with a Rifle Flash Target? I need one to build the last long range stage for an upcoming local 3 gun match.
  13. Does anyone have a good 3 Gun/MultiGun Scoresheet Template for a Time Plus match? Thanks in Advance
  14. Ah )*&^(%*(^%(&^)(*&%(*^&&&&!!!!! I was told today I have to be in Milwaukee in Nov. I thought the dates would let me shoot the match, but nope. Dang!
  15. For work, I tend to carry small inexpensive folders. That way if there is ever an issue, I don't mind losing the knife. And yes, there is one in my pocket now.
  16. See this is why I don't like the two stage, hot move setup. The shooter is carrying a hot gun; therefore they can never NOT be under the supervision of the RO and the "Make Ready" is assumed to have happened since the gun is loaded. In this case I would argue that due to those conditions, the action is not a DQ. However as an RO I would admonish the shooter to leave the gun be during the movement between stages and once in the "Starting spot" the action is no different than any other after a "Make Ready".
  17. One thing I found the last time I flew... they want a lock on each lock point on the case. So for a long gun case with a lock point at each end and one in the center, or one at each clasp... the TSA wanted a lock at each.
  18. I have yet to find a double bag that does a good job with my 60in Open Remington. They just all seem to short.
  19. Again... why destroy the receiver unless you just really want to get rid of it? Get rid of the "messed up" barrel, and buy a new full length one. I looked (at the Model 940) and Numrich sells them without FFL, so the barrel is not the "firearm" part. Unless I am missing something legally important, which has been known to happen....
  20. In Augusta, GA area as far as I know. I see the announcements but never get a chance to get down there.
  21. I just got off the phone with Rick at COM Holsters. I will be placing an order with him shortly. You can't ask for a better vendor or more knowledgeable guy!
