  1. I think the Augusta club holds one, but not sure when the next one is. I think its held on 5th Sats and so it won't be this month.
  2. If its a typical single shot, the barrel and receiver come apart. Can't you just use someone like Numrich and buy a new barrel?
  3. I have found that with the big Dawson Magwell, I can use the MecGar magazines with Arrendondo basepads but not the Dawson ones. With the regular Para mags I can use the Dawson pads.
  4. In Limited 10? Sure. In Limited? Depends on how serious. A friend runs a P14-45, get 17/18 in his mags with Dawson pads. Sure he is 2-4 rounds down to the 40s, but most stages that can be worked around with good planning. He doesn't win Limited, but he shoots well. Quite sure you give one of the big boys a P14-45 and they are still gonna kick most of us around the range.
  5. Because no one else really builds a wide-body 1911? Para has its own issues and everyone else seemed to have copied Para.
  6. Sounds like it needs a competent gunsmith and a completely new fire control group properly fitted.
  7. Correct. I was just trying to get to the general website for info. I figure out the issue.
  8. I get an ACCESS DENIED from the TexasMultigun website. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
  9. Olc é in aice leis. Faigh do chlaíomh. Maraigh é. Tóg an t-ór. Translated is "Evil is near. Get your sword. Kill it. Take the gold." as close as i could get to Evil looms. Cowboy up. Kill it. Get paid.
  10. Under the old rule, the perception was that you had to have a 625. But any 38/40/44/45 revolver could be competitive, from many different manufacturers. Look at Blueridge and his Alaskan, I shot a 28 for years. So the perception was just that, a perception. With the new rule (provisional/proposed/whatever it is), I am seeing the perception change to you have to have a 627 because the 625 is not going to be viable any longer and there aren't really any alternatives to that gun. Taurus makes the 608 but it seems to be unreliable. I just worry that perception wise we have gone from a bad perception to a worse perception.
  11. The problem is we are trading a perceived "one gun" game for a game that will be in fact "one gun", so I don't see how the so called "provisional" rule is going to help us any.
  12. Hi. Do you shoot at the Palmetto Gun Club?
  13. I have been wearing my CCW Tec Loader Tube pouch on my right hip shooting the Rockcastle/Benelli and the Nordic Component. But for 3Gun I am worried about reaching for tubes and knocking my pistol out of its holster. Wondering what other Open Tube Shotgun shooters are doing? I noticed Jesse T in a video was wearing his on his left hip but it looked like he was shooting right handed. Hopefully he will pop in and comment.
  14. Good point. I hadn't thought about that. So, if I understand correctly, in order to comply with this starting position when shooting revolver, the shooter can only load 5 rounds (in a six shot revo) and place the empty chamber in the 12 o'clock position; correct? No, for a revolver this would be basically an empty start. At least that is the way it has always been handled anywhere I have shot.
  15. Empty starts are bad enough, but the Empty Chamber/Mag inserted started really hammers the revolver shooters.
  16. For anything above a local match, I like to put a no-shoot in front of the barrel. Pretty much puts a stop to all the nonsense. At a local shoot some years ago, a set of barrels were declared in the WSB as soft cover. I was the first shooter on the stage, shooting a 45 in L10 with 230 jacketed. After reviewing the targets the WSB got changed! Between the rounds (3 each just to be safe) and the explosion of plastic, the targets were pretty shredded.
  17. Sucking is not my problem. I can shoot. But I move like a lame pregnant yak!
  18. Onagoth, the problem with that is most major shotgun matches in the US limit you to #7 or #7.5.
  19. Ship ammo. You are only allowed 11 lbs which is not much. Most major matches have a shop that is expecting shipments or send it to your hotel. Make sure you have enough locks. I was surprised this summer when I flew to a match and TSA wanted a lock on every lock point on the case. Allow yourself time at the airport. Sometimes getting thru with guns is easy, sometimes its time consuming.
  20. Your scoresheet from the stage should have the reason and supporting rule for the DQ on it. You were in violation of 8.1.2.1. but it would be interesting to this discussion to know what the RO used to justify the DQ.
  21. Not sure my everyone is so down on the 1100. Mine ran both the Benelli/Rockcastle and the Nordic Component without any issues not caused by ammo or shooter.
  22. I read your second comment that the shooter was the RM? I would think that when the RM is shooting as a competitor they have no authority due to the conflict of interest. I have never RM'd for a RM or MD that overturned a safety based DQ. Nor do I think I would RO for them more than once!
  23. When I changed the wood furniture on my 1100 to synthetic I noticed a significant change in weight. Do you want to replace the bolt handle with a larger one? I like the Nordic. MatchSaver? Have someone who KNOWS what they are doing work the gas ports and action? P.S. My 1100 is setup for OPEN so most of the goodies I run are not going to do you any good.
  24. Onepocket, If you go with the Palmetto Gun Club in Charleston you run into a couple of issues you will have to work out. One is the facility itself. With no trap/skeet range you are limited to the 10 pistol bays and maybe the rifle bay. And only on the rifle bay can you really have flying clays, even popups off poppers. Also you would have to come up with a source for additional steel. There is not enough for a full major match in the conex. Second would be timing. PGC has very few open weekend days. You would have to talk someone into giving up their weekend. And with GNG4LIFE starting up (hopefully) a monthly MG/3Gun match, the availables get slimmer. But if you are willing, I will gladly pitch in.
