  1. If I recall, the proper procedure is to write USPSA HQ and ask for a specific exemption. That will allow you to have a "local" rule and still be a legal USPSA match. Of course that means you have to present your case well enough that HQ deems the exemption worth issuing. I know that LEGAL issues are usually simpler. Why not install some type of baffle to raise your berms?
  2. wgj3, I have been told yes and no. But a 308 AR Upper is a lot of dinar to spend on "may work" since, for whatever reason, they aren't as universal as AR15s. Hoping to come across someone who can say "Yes, I did". I think I am going to ask around and see if I can find someone with a LR-308 who would let me match it up to my lower and satisfy myself. What I want is not offered by PSA so I can't just buy it from them.
  3. Has anyone built a 308 AR using a PSA (Palmetto State Armory) lower and an upper other than a PSA? Looking to see if there are any "additional" options.

  5. Steve, I had a slot at Woody's but after our conversation today I am going to let it go for the 1st Match. Hopefully we can plan better for the second and third. Here is the information that I mentioned about the new K&M Match --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Big Dog Steel will be hosting a Huge Precision Rifle Based Team Match at the KM Shooting Center in Baker, FL. We are excited to get back down to Florida do some shooting, hang out with friends and host another match! BDS is Proud to be teaming with Mark Gordon the owner of Short Action Customs. Due to our locations, both of us stuck in the deep freeze of Ohio, and in the spirit of the match SAC has jumped on board to be the title sponsor. SAC produces some fantastic rifles. I can't wait to show you what Mark will be putting on the table for you guys. Please visit their site and check out some of his work... shortactioncustoms.com The match dates will be July 18-19. We will have an open range and demo day the Friday preceding the match on July 17th. This match will test each team on marksmanship fundamentals, communication, problem solving, and most of all TEAMWORK. Expect a fun match with minimal time between stages. Our perfect scenario would be to keep you moving, but allow you enough time to mingle and enjoy the match. We are in the preliminary stages of planning, but I would expect round count to be right around 200 rounds of rifle and 75-100 rounds of pistol per shooter. Yes, there will be pistol! Pistol targets will, for the most part, be very doable so don't freak out. You will be required to have a holster with one form of retention as we will be moving with pistols on a few stages. We are anticipating opening registration towards the end of March. More details to follow!
  6. Georgetown... COOL! You just cut out 2/3s of my drive since I am in Charleston working every week. Precision 3 Gun.... sounds fun. DATES, We want dates!
  7. Yes, I plan to shoot the entire DMM series. If we can connect and click, then I won't have to find another partner. I also want, as schedules allow, to shoot all the other NC matches, including Palmetto 3 Gun's DMM in Tabor. I would like to run down to Cherokee Gun Club and shoot their match one month. I understand all about craziness. Working out of town and only being home Fri and Sat mean I have to plan in advance and life still throws craziness in. Call me whenever you get time.
  8. Steve, J Boyette posted on Carolina Shooters that there were still places open for the Butner Urban Sniper match if you are interested. Hopefully between Woodys, Palmetto 3 Gun, Boyette's Urban Sniper Match and Frontline Defense's Action Sniper Match, NC will have a lot of Precision RIfle matches to shoot in 2015. mwx40x40, have you shot the Cherokee Gun Club Tactical Rifle match?
  9. Steve - I am spending the 16th on the range at Palmetto Gun Club (Charleston) working my rifle, then Butner on the 21st. Maybe sometime in March our schedules will mesh and we can get together and shoot some before the May DDM or any matches at Palmetto 3 Gun. You can reach me direct at james.flowers at oracle.com or (704) 756-8139.
  10. If you are up for teaming up, drop me an email at jameslenwoodflowers@gmail.com. I can promise you that you will get to enjoy watching me get bitch slapped by a stage or three! Maybe we get get down to Pappy's 100 yard range one day and shoot together. I have been trying to sneak down there on Friday Mornings (I work M-Th) but so far its been cold, rainy, or serious winds. I don't know if the May match is full yet or not. Without a partner, I had not signed up. Are you going to shoot the match in Butner on the 21st?
  11. Based on the 2014 Schedule, Woodys holds 7 matches each year... 1 is a National PRS Match, that's March 7-8, 2015. 3 DMM Matches. That stands for Designated Marksmen Series, a local TEAM match. They are held May 9, July 25, Sept 26 this year. 3 were Individual Precision Rifle local matches, but they are not on the 2015 calendar (as of yet). Plus, Palmetto 3 Gun has said it will be hosting some local/club level DMM and Individual Precision Rifle matches in the Carolinas this years.
  12. Steve, right now I am looking for a partner for the DMM matches. Know of anyone in need of one? I can't promise anything better than last place!
  13. I am waitlisted into Woody's Match. One of the issues with the PRS and LR matches in general is that matches are so limited in the number of shooters they take its a hard fight to actually get into them. I will be at Woody's regardless, if just to watch and learn.
  14. Well, I finally got into a Precision Rifle Series Match; the OPPS Shoot For the Green in March. Hopefully, I can get enough practice in between now and then to not completely embarrass myself!
  15. Most business and paypal users have learned just to keep the transactions general so they never show up on the anti-gun company's radar.
  16. I like mesh - deer fencing, green plastic construction fencing, whatever - for several reasons. Doesn't blow in the wind. Lighter weight. But as an RO I like it since I can see the range. At Area 6 one year I was behind some barrels fixing an issue when the CRO started LAMR with the next shooter. Talk about pucker!!! And that's with a dedicated RO crew on the stage! At local matches, where everyone is working I really like being able to visually inspect the stage.
  17. Several people - here, on other forums, at matches - have told me I need to dry fire to help work through some of the issues I am having with Precision Rifle. Having shot USPSA for many years, I understand the importance of Dry Firing, but I also understand the importance of GOOD Dry Fire. Not reinforcing bad habits, not just playing with the gun and calling it dry fire. For Pistol we have known experts and their work, both published and provided free, to reference. People like Steve and Ben have done a great job. But I am finding very little material on Dry Fire for the Precision Rifle. A small amount from sources for High Power and F-Class but little else. So does anyone know of any good reference material, either online or purchasable, on Rifle Dry Fire?
  18. Isn't the issue, Sam's work schedule? Maybe someone else with the right skill set needs to step up.
  19. Thanks! I have flown with firearms before and know the TSA drill. My concern was just the DC laws. I did not want to end up like the poor people who try to check in at some airports and end up in jail because they are violating local laws. Since Reagan is not in DC I am good to go.
  20. One of the Long Range/Precision Rifle matches I plan to attend is at Peacemaker.
  21. Miranda, But it what Alma is saying is true, I will never actually be in DC itself. That Reagan National is in Virginia.
  22. I won't be shooting local matches in the area. Since my work assignment has been changed from FLETC/DoS Charleston to DoS Rossyln for Jan to July 2015, any match I travel to will have to be out of Ronald Reagan. I most likely will be staying at the Marriott Courtyard Rosslyn which is at the top of the hill about 3 blocks from the DoS Rosslyn office. My rifle case (I will be traveling with either an F Class Rifle or a Shotgun depending on what match I am headed to) is covered with Rock Band stickers. Most people think it is a guitar case.
  23. Alma, If that's the case I may be ok. Basically I will need to go Charlotte to Reagan, work the week in Rossyln, Reagan to Match, Match to Reagan, work the week in Rossyln, Reagan to Charlotte with my guns. IF and that the BIG IF, I can do so legally and safely, I can push all the travel expense to my client (Uncle Sam), otherwise I might have to pick some of it up. Race, If I can't find a safe way, I won't be. That's why I am doing my research two months ahead of time. To CYA!
